For the sake of this article, should we assume a world-wide epidemic and near-extinction of humanity. Assume that this is aimed at a small colony of functional survivors, who now seek to expand and re-establish themselves. It should be assumed that the infection still lingers but is not as significant as it once was.

Obviously we have all been curious about what will happen after this inevitable zombie attack. Well my concerns are that I won't want to have to start over from scratch. I would like to preserve Humanity and save technology so that we can better ourselves because it is possible that if the zombie virus is created by humans then there is a chance that we may create it all over again if we don't learn from our mistakes. I mean a zombie war could have already happened a long time ago. We would not have known about it because we would have forgotten. This would explain why we are so interested because maybe we humans possess a gene that warns us of this impending attack. What do you all think?

Establishment of Rule
The means of control are a primary requisite for all the rest of the recommendations in this article. A group of survivors need to identify some kind of method of control and authority in the group. This can happen a number of ways and is largely dependent on the situation and the individuals involved. Some survivor colonies may be democratic in nature, others may be ruled by a single person bent on their own gain. Or perhaps a group of survivors is run by theocratic rule. In any event, this needs to be established, an authority needs to be recognized.

Establishment of Law and Morality
Law enforcement, morality and a legal system will have suffered greatly during months and years of prolong isolation and the effective collapse of society. During those extenuating times, many aspects of morality and laws may have been rejected. To steal, to kill, to sabotage, to mislead and manipulate may have been required to survive and establish a safe fortification.

Establishment of Rights and Penalties
One must establish a sort of 'constitution' to outline the basic rights of individuals and the rights within the colony and society. This helps to determine where one has wronged another person. To assist in following up on unruly behavior, there needs to be a makeshift penal system in order. A way that individuals can be punished, segregated or removed from the group to prevent chaos, damage, death and decay of humanity.
