Puberty, time when you change into a woman and change into a man. Hormones are flying everywhere and your not normal. How do you think kids(10 to 13) would react to z-day? Would some survive or would some not know what to do? Do you know any preteens that could survive an outbreak?

My little brother NO DOUBT. He has stood up to 17year-old to protect my sis and won lol plus he always has a knife with him and he plans to join the FBI if i don't survive he will protect the family no doubt in my mind.

I think that Preteens would do OK in the event of Z-day, they have the hormones, this will make them a bit moody and may or may not make them want to fight (I am only talking about guys here, I've got no idea what a girl would do...). I know a couple of preteens that would probably survive, that is because they are exposed to zombie stuff weekly though...

Richboy23mj-I am only 13 and I have already typed up 101 tips to survive. I have already thought up a plan of where to go and I have a group of 5 friends who would also go there. I also can use a shotgun well and I know how to make the ultimate Molotov.

i have made my point and they think there bullet proof which is nice
i shot my dads 12ga when i was 7 (i had to shoot it like a mortar because it was to big for me)
i shot my first gun at 5 just a 22 rifle
McSkullcracken: Some of them may have difficulty adjusting to life without cell phones or electricity (should it all go that far), but overall they will probably do just as well or possibly better than the average adult. Kids can be more resilient than people give them credit for, and their smaller size can make them more evasive and give them more hiding places. One of the problems they may have is a lack of survival knowledge (but many adults lack this as well). They may also be more inclined to rash decision making that leads to unnecessary risk.
Quickrace89: Most kids (especially in Australia) would handle it pretty damn well, except for the dumb kid who decides to try and strangle a zombie... but it all depends on what you define as a 13 year old. You might be talking about obese 13 year old borderline retards, you might be talking about really active kids who are the smartest in their class. Everyone talks about mood swings, but I don't think feeling depressed is going to stop you running for your life, when it comes down to it. And, thanks to pop culture and movies, most kids think they're bulletproof, which, depending on the balance of common sense, will truly determine if they survive.
Mr.Xeight-Even though I myself am only 14 I actually think you give us kids too much credit. I know for a fact most children would survive, however in a world with 7 years old children being 500 lbs. (check the Maury show, you'll be horrified) and technology at an all time high, some might not make it. Currently living in a very sheltered school, there are only 2-3 other kids who have an even fired a real gun of any sort.

Dooran: Now, there will be a spectrum of responses, same as any other age category. There will be those who are driven past their breaking point by zombies, and others who will rise to the occasion. The problem with youth is how well they work with others. From what I've known of 10-13 year old (myself being only 18) I've found them to be very sensitive to their surroundings, and even more so recently towards insults, taking it too far. This makes me think that those who are willing and able to fight off zombies will also be the ones who are prone to turning on survivors like themselves based on slight disagreements. Not saying adults won't do the same, just that youth would be more prone to do so. Also, and was mentioned about child soldiers, the reason child soldiers are so effective and frightening is because of the damage the extreme violence causes to them. Children in war-zones essentially have their sympathy, their humanity really, wiped out and replaced by a complete obsession with their combat. They will basically be fighters, with severe emotional problems off the battlefield. This will make community efforts with large numbers of youth difficult to accomplish, and the restructuring of society even more so. The final problem I can see with youth of that age is that once they learn how to fight, and actually engage in combat and have these emotional problems hit, they are more prone to acting without a plan, engaging in reckless combat, and basically put all those around them in risk.
Mr.Xeight-Plus the shock of being ripped apart from their families, being regualarly drugged up, and having to kill people they might know like clockwork, that might be the reason they're so tough.

The smart ones will escape and evade until they reach safety, the brave ones will die protecting the smart ones- Most of the survivors will be females (statistical, historic, and physiological fact is, females are built better for survival, less for combat). Since most will not have small children encumbering them, they will also have that advantage; Child-rearing females may have this child who can’t defend themselves slowing them down. (Harsh, yes- But true. And I will never lie to you.) Very young (unable to defend themselves, nor escape) and old (again, unable to defend themselves, nor escape) are the ones most likely to die. 13± to 45± without children are the ones most likely to survive. (Of course, there will always be a few people like me to kill every last God-damned skinjob in sight, raising the survival rate in general a bit, but even I’m not God. Just and Angel of Hatred and Death.)
Death Hawk- I think they would I could run 3 miles flat in 20-25 mins at 12 a couple of years ago, plus I knew how to make c-4, thermite and napalm.
Bentheunicorn: I'm 13 and have taken karate for 6 years. Hand to hand against a skinjob is suicide, but there is always the bowstaff (knock a few heads off).
Zdaysurvivor:I am 14 I have read zombie survival guide ive written over 17 survival plans 4 pages ea i can make a cocktail i hae a gun well i have 1 in the house my dad doesnt think i know where it is there is ammo in my house i dont eat much and i have about 3 weeks of canned foods in the house and about 2 weeks of the god send SPAM i stock pile water bottles just incase I have a very good BoB and hell i saw my mom die in front of me (mugging it was my mom and dad with me and it doesnt phase me ) and i have like no-body I realy care about and I have a fair bit of cash so if i hear of zombies on the other side of the country i can go to the store and spaend ALL my cash on supplies.and im not suicidal anymore but i did attemt suicide but that was just because I was bored lol im not that afraid of being dead so i could blow my brains out if i HAD to.
Queen-Lover: (In the UK) I am 15, I live in the country with very few people living around us. There is also a CCF armoury within walking distance from my house, filled with SA-80s I think they're called. Im can operate them easily and I know how to clean them and im also not a bad shot. : )
Not much further away is the equivlent of a DT store, and you are allowed to use all the heavy machinary there. It has lots of materials and tools (So barricades are no problem). And also within walking distance is a place I can raide for food and water AND there are also some very nice shops nearby that hardly anyone visits, that I can just board up in and hide for a very low profile hideout, though this would only be secondary to my own house.
In terms of physical fitness, im strong, reasonably fast, I have agility and suppleness. But I dont have much stamina, which is really what you need when out-running zombies (I think of the "infected" from 28 days late as the more realistic type), in reality though I couldnt hold up in a fight with a zombie (especially an adult one) unarmed.
thewhitezombie666-why is everyone(including me) here 13.and why do all the 13 year olds(excluding me) know kar-at-tay and think blades,staffs and other weird ninja weapons are so damn cool, let me tell you something,andyREDDSON once said "if you can stab them they can bite"you but I am a pretty good shot with the mosin nagant, Mauser 98k, colt .44, and the m1 carbine the other guns I have I'm not asgood at .also who would win a ninja or a highly trained u.s. sniper with a Barret m-82 and a gilly suit 2000 yards away? whats the most dangerous weapon in the world? A MARINE AND HIS RIFLE!

Or 10 feet away with an old bolt-action .22 rifle? I must be a complete idiot, but funnily enough, I'd pick the rifle. thewhitezombie666, I don't mean to be patronizing, but most of these 13 year old kids who say they are karate/kung fu masters with superhuman abilities are most likely chubby, pimply, high-pitched Counter-Strike nerds.

KaikelX: Being one myself, I have to say the chance of survival can be predicted like adults. It all depends on the person. I haven't seen anyone get moody from hormones, but I've seen plenty of people go... never mind. However a lot of the preteen casualty list is going to come from the ones who follow what to do by the movies, not common sense. A lot of the survivors will survive by hooking up with a good group willing to take them in, commonsense, or just plain luck.

well im 14 and i have to say im ready.. i have a plan.. friends to meet .. and the only thing that i think would kill me would be runners... i mean thats not even fair is it .. lol yeh and i have 5 years airsofting, paintballing, camping, hiking and etc. im also a skater soo i can run far and fast ;) i think im ok but 1 more thing we all seem to have plans and etc. but 1 thing we lack is a universal survivor camp... i mean all of us in 1 place .. lets just say zed=ded and yeh i live in a small town in california called lake isabella its under 5,000 population it has a lake and river a gun shop, almost everyone here has guns because most of us grew up like me and i have to say this town might be fine yeh try and get here.. if shit goes down .. its in california about 1 hour drive from bakersfield .. i remember quote from my 13 colonies history test.. by benjamin franklin i think " united we stand, divided we fall" just remember that if and when it goes down ;)
