As opposed to the horse, that ATV remains your other option for high speed, 1-2 people transportation. The ATV comes in many different sizes, from small 50cc kids bikes, to 800cc f***ing monsters!
I personally own a 450cc raptor, a racing style bike. For living in a zombie infested world, i might want to grab something akin to a 500 ranger, a polaris utility quad. they're big, pretty fast, gas efficiant, the ability to hold a 3 and 1/2 ton winch, which might come in handy for tearing stuff down, and moving stuff into position, I.E. cars with no wheels to use as a barricade, yep, it can move it.
This below is my person favorite quad of all time. it is the Can-Am 800cc renegade. It has the speed and agility of a sports quad, and the grip and torque of a utility quad. Put a nice big front guard of the fron and you have a 1 man zombie plow, and then put you winch on the back for nice towing capability. I have ridden one of these quads, and if you intend to go out and buy one on my recomendation without any prior knowledge of quads, please, if you wheelie this thing into a tree, i am not liable!! These are very fast and dangerous to ride, my friends almost killed me, but they are a blast.
Another vehicle i think would be a tad more useful that a quad, is the picture below, they are known as UTVs almost small cars, dune buggies if you will. You can buy them for around 12000 new, or ive seen them for sale at around 3000. if any of you have an imagination, you can see the picture and think "hey, that passenger seat, i could mount a machine gun, and that back rack could hold a roof gunner!!" Im under the impression that these would be the most useful, because they are fast, my friend topped his out at around 85 MPH, and they are off road capable, unlike most cars, and they are agile, moreso than, well, cars. they are comfortable, usually have big motors, like 800cc and above all, survivable. they may not be bullet proof, but with your (hopefully) massive amounts of mounted weapons, and your superior speed, you should be able to handle most dangers. now, my only gripe is they dont come with the police style front and back bumpers, but you can grab those for around 250-500 each. and then modify the doors, as they are just nets, put some plates steel on there, and your good to go
