Plot-A documentary news crew arrives at an LA fire house for a show called "The Night Shift". The host, Angela Vidal, and her cameraman, Scott Percival, interview the chief and are told to shadow firemen Jake and Fletcher. After a few humorus scenes of firehouse life, involving showers, hoses and wide angled lenses, a call comes in for an emergency response at an old apartment building. Arriving on scene, the two firemen and crew find half the building downstairs, reporting a woman upstairs, named Ms. Espinoza, screaming. Two police, officers James and Danny, already on the scene, lead the firemen to the apartment and tell the news crew to stay back. Breaking through the woman's door, they find her stuttering and bleeding profusely. The cameraman, trying to get a better shot, turns on the cameras light, and causes the woman to go into hysterics. While the police handle the cameraman, the firemen start taking care of the woman. However, as James gets closer to help, the woman rises up and tears a large gash into the officers neck. Knocking the woman out, Fletcher stays in the apartment while the others take the wounded officer downstairs. When they arrive, however, they find the doors barricaded and military personnel outside.

Ordering her cameraman to tape everything, Angela starts getting information from the rest of the tenents on what happened. AtSeconds later, Fletcher falls from the samesecond time,floor, cellsuffering phonesmassive trauma. Leaving vet Lawerence to care for the wounded, Jake and otherDanny go communicationsto aresubdue Ms. Espinoza. When they arrive, however, they find a cleaning lady, already dead. Seeing Ms. Espinoza beingcovered in more blood, Danny tries to talk her down. When she charges, he shoots her. On the way back to the lobby, they meet Sadie, and soon find the entire building blocked off, and cell phones are jammed.
