i have grown up with horses all my life, my parents still have about 30 quarter horses on the farm. while i see great value in having them the idea of keeping enough food for them on even 20 barges is not realistic. again i love the idea horses are a wonderful tool but they would most likely end up using more of your resourses than your are prepared to give up. best bet set them free and let them escape the zed on their own most likely where ever you are going will have a few within a 20 to 30 mile trip to be found on a scavenging trip. best of luck

it will be hard to keep the horses healthy. horses need a lot of space to exercise, and it takes a lot of crops to feed a big group, and decent farmers with lots of soil to grow it. you will definitely have to raid the main land for spare parts to the barge, fuel, more soil/fertilizer (recycling won't be enough.) and other things too. i know your modifying it to make it much better, but i hope this criticism gives you some ideas to improve it.
