The Remington 1100 first released in 1965 was originally designed as a hunting shotgun but was later adapted as a military weapon. The model I will be reviewing is the TAC4 although the basics of the others are essentially the same.

Reliability- The 1100 is a fairly reliable gun I wont say its great because if you don't keep it cleaned and oiled it will malfunction but with proper maintenance its a very reliable gun

Cost- The 1100 is a kind of expensive weapon but for what you get the price isn't bad the tac4 model is the least expensive and runs for $945 where the most expensive is the competition model running for $1692 but for a zday situation a fail to see how the competition model is better.

Ammo Availability- 12 gauge is the most common shotgun cartridge in the country you can get all kinds of different shot the best for anti personnel being 00 buckshot you can also get slugs, less than lethal rounds, and lots of other special purpose rounds so the ammo is very available and fairly cheap.20 gauge is similar but you tend not to find the "special" ammo for it like you do the 12 gauge

Range- With shot the range max's out at around 50 yards when it comes to effectively taking down a target. With slugs usually out to 100 yards but with Remington accu tip ammo you can easily make shots at 150+ yards.

Power- In 12 gauge this gun is almost always a one shot kill using standard 00 buckshot your sending 9, 32 caliber pellets down range at around 1200 ftps and using a slug depending on brand your sending a 58 caliber bullet down range.

Accessories Ergonomics- Unlike other more popular choices like the Remington 870 or mossberg 500 unfortunately there are not may choices for the 1100 you can do things like grips and lights and new stocks but no real customizing can be done.

Recoil- Because its an auto loading shotgun the recoil is alot less than that of a pump or break barrel the kick of the 12 gauge in this gun is comparable to a 20 gauge in a pump shotgun

ZDAY- Over all this is a short to medium ranged very powerful gun, that most people can handle recoil wise, the ammo is very available and inexpensive for it so I rate it 8 out of 10 for ZDAY applications
