Your Name: Your "handle" should we look for you on the radio waves or web: Shadow
Your location: Wakefield

Tell us:

Where am I?
Near Wakefield, West Yorkshire, England.
Yorkshire

Is your plan dependent on zombies in your home town, or anywhere?
Mainly my home town but it can be easily changed for anywhere.

Will you be staying in your home or headed somewhere else?
Home, It's got high perimeter brick walls and lots of space for growing food, I know the layout, it has lot's of fuel, building and barricading materials, tools and lots of food. However, if I am anywhere else I shall look for the nearest building that has the thickest walls, as many floors as possible, the least amount of windows and doors (entrances), a physical perimeter, food, water, equipment, weapons, barricading materials, and secondary, tertiary
and best of all quaternary fallback and defensive positions.

Baricading materials I have
  • Over two dozen palets
  • Over three dozen concrete blocks.
  • Three bags of cement
  • Six bags of sand
  • Lots of pieces of chipboards.
  • Over forty granite blocks
  • Over sixty stone blocks
  • Four dozen lengths of wood
  • Six doors (doors which have been replaced
  • 50 metres of chicken wire
  • Six 10 metre logs
Tools I have
  • Arc welder
  • Circular saw
  • Sledgehammer
  • Crowbar
  • Circular saw
  • 2 Chainsaws
  • Forestry saw
  • Several hacksaws-with lots of spare blades
  • Several hammers
  • Full range of allen keys
  • Full range of screwdrivers
  • 4 Drills
  • 2 Electric screwdrivers
  • Spirit level
  • Monkey wrench
  • Full set of spanners
  • Ratchet-with assorted heads
  • Wire strippers
  • 2 Soldering Irons-with solder
  • 2 Tennon saws
  • 2 Wood saws
  • Small lathe
  • Many more miscelaneous tools-for electricity, masonry, plumbing etc.
Fortification
I already have high walls running round my property 12 foot high, however there is a small section which is only seven foot, but it is being built higher at the moment there is only one entrance which is a big pair of wooden gates. So I will board up the gates, and put one of the smaller cars in front of it.

Alternate Places to run to
  1. The local prison, it's the second most secure in the world-it has big 30 metres+ high walls all the way around.
  2. My caravan in the lake district, it is isolated, in a clearing in a forest and there is lot's of fuel, (gas and wood) as well as there being an abundance of food, wild fruits and berries, vegetables, cows, sheep, rabbit, deer, duck and lots of fish in the nearby lake.
  3. A plot of land in the hills of rural northern Italy, there are lots of firearms, the hills are steep there are lots of generators and everyone grows there own fruit and veg and there are a couple of farms nearby with animals.
  4. The North Yorkshire Moors-they're isolated, with an extremely low poupulation and mostly comprise of farmland-where most farmers have shotguns (to deal with pests, such as foxes)-woodland ( which can provide lots of wild fruits and some game-even deer, lakes and reservoirs-where I can source fish and fresh water respectively-and villages-which have a low poupulation of no more than a couple of hundred and lots of food.

Short Term Plan
Gather survivalist cell, friends, and family. Gather all supplies that are nearby, and look for any weapons. Baricade and fortify any weak points, divide labour and create a guard rota, dig a well and set up water catchers, plant vegetables and fruit, and get any animals. Accept any uninfected survivors as long as there are enough supplies and they will not endager the group.

Long Term Plan
Expand around the compound, and listen for any radio broadcasts, install wind and solar powered generators. Send out supply parties when anything is needed, after animals are being reared, water is sourced and fruit & vegetables planted, this will mean mainly ammunition and medicine. However, I plan to get a lathe, milling machine and other tools so I can make my own ammunition, there is a manual that tells you how. I will look out for anyone with skills we need; mechanics, doctors, teachers etc. Those people with skills that we need that we can't find, we shall sumpliment with learning from manuals and books. People whose skills are required will teach others, in case something happens. As the population grows the compound willl expand.

Locations of Resources
  • Royal Armouries
  • Police stations
  • T.A. (Territorial Army) bases
  • Supermarkets
  • Military bases
  • D.I.Y. stores
  • Hunting stores
  • Camping stores
  • Fishing stores
  • Outdoor stores
  • Sport stores
If you're heading out, how do you plan to get there?
In a L200 Mitsibushi pickup (the one at home has C.B. in it, extra lights, sump and diff guards and a winch), or a landrover 90, by bike or by boat along the nearby canal?

Got anyone you want to take with you?
My close friends and family, and my survivalist cell.

How will you communicate with the outside world, or do you plan to go the hermit route?
I will use a C.B. radio and also I have a transmitter and if I can find one a military/emergency radio.

How are you planning to get food and water?
I can quickly raid the small store nearby my house if I am at home, I will then check on my vegetables in the greenhouse and the garden, and I can collect water using buckets, other containers, a well and also by collecting condensed water, I have several dozen water pumps and filters, as well as over a hundred purification tablet. If at another place I will go and raid any near by stores for food try to plant vegetables and either hunt or forage, I know how to skin, gut and cook with the basic equipment.

What's your weapon of choice? Do you need to reload that thing? Gotta plan for that?
I will use a high powerwed sighted crossbow to begin with (I have one) and
a katana, tanto, ninjite and a set of throwing knives (everything besides the katana I have, but I will soon be buying a katana). I shall then go to a police station (if I am at my house I will go to the police armoury just over a mile away and get a G-36 and a Glock-I know thwy have one because there was a newspaper article about them) and if I am anywhere else in Britain I will pick up an semi-automatic Mp-5, P-90, G-36, Steyr AUG, or Glock-and if the police are given permission to utilise them a Remington 870 and Mp-5SD, (all these weapons are used by the British Armed Response Teams). If I am in another country gun's are easier to come by. If I am near Leeds as I am at home I shall take a canal boat to the royal armouries as there is a canal just over half a mile from my house and there are always a dozen or so barge boats-which I plan to take, I shall therefore be safe from zed's on the route there, and get weapons from there, as they have lots of working guns (including semi-automatic, fully automatic, bolt action, pump action firearms-it has assault rifles, hunting rifles, S.M.G.'s, machine guns, shotguns, pistols and sniper rifles) and lots of ammunition and lots of melee weapons such as broadswords, shortswords, longswords, kukris, katanas, tantos, nijites, maces, trench knives, bayonets and many more. I have quite a bit of thermite to break in through any steel/titanium doors or any cabinet cases. As for weapon handling I have handled bolt-action rifles and assault rifles at cadets, and can reload quickly, I also have read many manuals on how to strip, clean and mantain guns.

My Prefered Weapons
My prefered weapons are as folows-even though some are hard to come by:
  1. M-4/Ar-15 with select fire, Surefire tactical light, dot laser, a silencer, and a 4x zoom scope (no-one knows how a zombie works-whether it's fast or slow, intelligent or dim-witted, whether it requires a head shot or could be shot anywhere-also I might need a fully automatic weapons in case I have to defend against raiders). I have seen several of these at the Royal Armouries, but without the accessories.
  2. Remington 870 with Surefire tactical light and shell holders, again I have seen several of these at the Royal Armouries, but without the accessories.
  3. 1911 pistol with Surefire tactical light, a dot laser, a silencer and eight or ten round clips.
  4. Either an FN-57 (with 20 round mag) or an Beretta 92 (in 9mm with a 15 round clip), both with aSurefire tactical light, a silencer and a dot laser, again I have seen several Beretta 92's at the Royal Armouries, but without the accessories. .
  5. A tanto or katana in case I run out of ammunition or they get to close and I have no escape route.
  6. A set of throwing knives ( I know how to throw and can hit at 30-40 metres away).
Training
  1. A 5 kilometre run twice a week
  2. 100 Sit ups at least twice a week
  3. 50 Press ups twice a week
  4. 10 Pull ups four times a week
  5. 3 mile walk a day
  6. Training with combat gear on- using a modified paintball marker to represent a gun's weight-so I can get used to carrying it, running, crawling and jumping in it.
  7. Knife throwing
  8. A blend of martial arts
  9. Reading survival manuals
  10. Reading how to manuals
  11. Reading training manuals

Got a survival philosophy?
Try to avoid confrontation. Keep silent. Keep alert. Keep away. Always have an escape route.

Are you willing to hook up with other survivors?
If they there is anough food/supplies for everyone and they won't threaten or endanger us.

Is your plan based on a book/movie/blog/scientist we may have heard of?
Bit of the zombie survival guide, but mostly my own ideas.
