Rocketman's Survival PlanThis is a featured page

A fore-note:

This plan has, to this point, been in a perpetual state of change. Base locations, methods of sustenance, and travel plans have changed many, many times.

However, I've gained some invaluable help from friends of mine and member of the ZSDW. As such, the baselines will likely still change a bit, but the plan is, for the most part, solid. Even if, say, I were to move away, this would remain my families plan, and I would meet up with them later.

That being said, I am still constantly trying to better organize my plan on the Wiki. My apologies if you have trouble figuring out what's going on, as it's still a work in progress.

Thanks for your time, and I hope you enjoy;

First off, a little about me:

After hearing about and reading the Zombie Survival Guide, I started formulating a plan for the Zombie Apocolypse. Having only knowledge of "Shamblers", my plan was rather specialized and, honestly, unstable.

Then, one day, I stumbled across this website. Since I have read around and signed up here, my plan, knowledge, and chances of survival have all taken turns for the better. The plan has been modified, so that it should survive any type of zombie attack, be it Rage or Shambling zombies. Plus, with a solid baseline to follow, the nuances are flexible.

I grew up along the Allegheny River, where my family was always boating, swimming, kayaking, etc. One of the most common sights on my part of the river are the monolithic steel barges, moving up and down river, dredging gravel from the bottom.

The above is similar to the local water-craft; however, ours are squared and MUCH larger.

As is appropriate for where I live, as soon as I read the Zombie Survival Guide, my plan was to round up a few barges, and live on the river, farming in the cargo area - a rather inspired, and not that bad, idea, if I may say so myself.

Depending on the number of people, this is still a viable option. However, I now realize that, depending on several factors, it may take 2 and a half barges to fully support a single person's food intake for the year. Seeing as such, we may simply not be able to feed a larger group of people while remaining offshore.

In any case, my plan has been going under a lot of revisions, corrections, changes, etc. As such, the main focus accepts that we may no longer be able to live indefinitely on these barges. However, now we will take the barges, plant and grow in them, and use them as a a base, from which we can further organize, and, should the need arise, take a location on shore to use as external growing space.

I say it now, and I'll say it again, if you want a place among the farms, talk to me NOW! Because I will be much more friendly now than I will Z-day. IF you show up on Z-day thinking I'm gonna let you waltz on in, think again. By contacting me now, you become one of "my people". If you come on Z-day, you could be a threat, and you will have to surrender all of your possessions for an undetermined amount of time, as well as submit to other precautions.

Background of Preparedness

Part 1 & 2: Bugging In/Out
[This is the section where you detail how you will fortify and defend your current home, and prepare your Bug Out Bag/where you detail how you will escape to your Bug Out Location. What vehicles you use, the routes you take, etc]

As I see, there are two main possibilities, each requiring a different plan:
1) We know about the threat. We have warnnings from the news, radio, and human contacts, and can prepare and be ready for whats coming.
2) We are caught entirely by suprise, only knowing the danger when it comes walking down our road and out of the woods.

- Bugging Out: Post Panic

I would ask that any comments or threads concerning my Bug Out options be kept on this main page, as any on these pages will go unnoticed for a very long time.

The basic ideas of my plan are down. What does everyone think? Does anyone think its a good idea? And intrested in pulling off a similar plan elsewhere?
