The plan has kinda taken a backdoor due to schooling issues, but perhaps now I'll have a bit more time to put to it. Let me just try to list a few changes being made...
First off, I've changed the focus from rounding up cattle to gather goats. Goats are a much better option all around, as discussed by myself and key others in this thread:
http://www.zombiesurvivalwiki.com/thread/4521662/A+thought+concerning+cows...On the above not, my family is looking at getting one or several pygmy goats. These can, but will not, be used for milking and such. However, they will certainly let us get an idea of how well we may be able to keep goats Pre-Z.
Another side-note, we have a lot of movement in the horse department. Texas has been sold, and we have picked up several more (Many of these new ones MUCH bigger. ;D )
Another note, as stated above, is that the land location has been moved to a closer location. HOWEVER, I should also mention that the focus has changed back to being a water-based operation. I cannot predict what the threats and such will be like on the ground. Therefore, I will place the security over the food priority. I do not feel that we will be in serious trouble, food-wise, with this issue, especially as there is debate as to whether 13K square feet is too high of an estimate.
On that topic, I have been doing major research into a branch of aquaponics, called Barrelponics. The thread where this is discussed is here:
http://www.zombiesurvivalwiki.com/thread/4304382/River+question?offset=0&maxResults=20After some thought, we will not be focusing on building the mass housing. Granted, it may be a venue worth pursuing in the future, after things have settled down, but it will not be an immediate concern. Seeing as we are not moving, the multiple boats should not be as great an issue. Therefore, the barges will, again, be focused for growing. Greenhouses are priority.
