Your Name: Your "handle" should we look for you on the radio waves or web: Dan, or D for short. I more than likely won't look for survivors on the web or radio, but you could find me under that name.
Your location: Rural Community: some farms, suburbs
Tell us:
Is your plan dependent on zombies in your home town, or anywhere?Zombies will have to be taken down on any visit for supplies.
Will you be staying in your home or headed somewhere else?
My home is miles from town, where most concentration of zombies would be. It's large to hold several survivors, but small enough to barricade easily.
If you're heading out, how do you plan to get there?
Living in wide open spaces, walking or biking is out of the question. I would take a motorcycle if in checking surroundings, for surviving friends and family, or scanning for weapons. Conserving fuel is a prime concern. I would take our family truck to lumber stores, or possibly groceries (depending on how far into the epidemic we were) to get supplies for security, or food.
Got anyone you want to take with you?
My family, of course, some of my closer friends, and my girlfriend and her family. That's about the amount our house could hold comfortably.
How will you communicate with the outside world, or do you plan to go the hermit route?
Definitely the hermit route. I really don't care that much for everyone else, so once I get everyone I love in one spot we'll just stay put there.
How are you planning to get food and water?
Initially, I'll depend on the grocery store for a quick stock. (Bread, canned foods, etc) During the warm seasons, I'll grow necessity foods (corn, potatoes) outside in a garden. Afterward, I'll strip one side of my basement, install large greenhouse lights connected to a generator, and input soil to grow food during the colder times.
Water can be retrieved from the lake nearby, put through a filtering system, and possibly a distilling system. Gutters will be redirected to a large pool on the other side of the basement, where it too can be filtered, or drank as it is. If there is no rain for an extended period, and the lake is unreachable, the creeks and pond in our own back yard will need to be retrieved and filtered.
What's your weapon of choice? Do you need to reload that thing? Gotta plan for that?
My main weapon of choice would be a semi-automatic 30-30 which I would carry in all times of increased danger. Extra magazines would be attached to a leather vest. I would then carry a sawed off, semi automatic 12 gauge on a holster on my back in case things got a bit too...close. Lastly, a razor sharp katana at my side, for in case I don't have time to reload, or if I'm out of bullets entirely. Other ideas I've had in mind were a combat knife for tool-like purposes reservedly, and a high-explosive grenade, in case I'm surrounded without any other choice.
Got a survival philosophy?
Zombie survival is all about just that, surviving. Your job is to gather your family, hunker down, and wait it off as long as you can. Don't start feeling macho, or like a hero in the eyes of death. That's how you get killed.
Are you willing to hook up with other survivors?
I love my girlfriend, and my first plan of action as far as us goes is to keep us alive. Or, just her if I can't do everything.
Is your plan based on a book/movie/blog/scientist we may have heard of?
My plan isn't based on anything in particular, but I've had many ideas from Leon, from Resident Evil 4
