City: Santa Rosa
Country: United States
State: California
County: Sonoma
Neighborhood: Urban, City.
Total Population (2000): 147,595
Building or Defensible Location: Shopping Center
Attributes: Considering that the shopping center is in the middle of a population of over 150,000 right now, sure we know we'll be going into a hell-hole, but we'd prefer to stick it out in a solid building with enough space on the roof to provide dayround sunlight and enough room to farm our own food. It is an extremely large building with no windows and three garage-style metal doors, built out of concrete it provides a solid shelter and enough room to sleep about one hundred people comfortably. Immediately upon news of any outbreaks within the United States a team of no less than 25 young men will arrive at Costco at 9:35am.
Arriving in 8, 4x4 Trucks and SUVs, the trucks having camper shells covering the entire truck bed and containing reinforced metal sheeting on the inside of the shells, the men will step out of the vehiclesarmed with a long range rifle and a pistol strapped to either of their thighs. Provided there is little to no resistance from the employees who are opening the store, the men will immediately begin by retreiving the 8 vehicles and pulling them inside the building, moving anything in the way.
Aligning these 8 vehicles in a semi-circle surrounding the entrance, four men will stand guard behind the vehicles while two men close the overhead doors.
While this is happening, the other 19 men will begin pulling out metal sheets and bags of concrete from the rear of the vehicles, after all the materials are placed on the floor, and the men gather in front of the vehicles.
Three men will immediately find access to the roof of the building, taking with them any ammunition they brought with them, a long range rifle, and one or two handguns. These three men will warn anyone who attempts to gain access to the building that they must leave and may return at a later date, 1-2 days, upon penalty of death.
Four men will then cover the front entrance while two men begin the barricades, 8 of the remaining 16 men will take one of the vehicles and drive to the loading docks and begin to barricade this entrance as well.
Four of the remaining 8 men will cover the employees with their weapons while the others carry materials to strengthen the tire center doors, and to find other entrances to strengthen and barricade.
When the strengthening and barricading of all entrances is finished, the current leader of the group will immediately grab the mic of the CB radio in the nearest vehicle, and announce to any of the other members of their party that the building has been secured and evacuation to the building can begin immediately.
Having secured all the entrances by this time, all 22 men have congregated back at the main entrance, preparing to receive their family, and any friends who are still unharmed.
If upon opening of the door the men find hostile survivors they will immediately request that they return to their homes and return in 1-2 days.
If the people refuse, the men will proceed to shoulder their weapons and prepare to engage any hostiles. Being supported by the three men already in place on the roof. Unless specifically recognized as a prepared and eager fellow survivalist.
Sixty-Five people will arrive in different model vehicles but will immediately proceed to drive in one at a time and unload whatever specialty supplies they brought, then proceed to park the vehicles down the inside of the building, making a staggered and secondary makeshift barricade inside of the main entrance, providing a second layer of protection.
Upon completion of receiving all the members of the party, be it specialty members or family, two of the 5 the construction specialists will proceed to the loading dock with 3 escorts, 3 men with handguns to protect the specialists and watch or any possible hazards/dangers to the groups survival. There they will begin to concrete up the loading docks so it is inpenetrable by anything more than an armor piercing bullet or explosive.
The remaining three construction specialists will then fabricate a proper holding cell for anyone who arrives and wants to join our survival group.
The mechanical specialists will depart and search around for a floorplan or will try a method of trial and error on how they will bring the vehicles into the garage without going outside, most likely beginning with sledgehammers and creating a pathway through the wall(s) into the garage.
All other specialists will begin to move to their designated locations, medical/dental to the pharmacy area, and setup, education/entertainment, moving equipment around and creating proper areas for instruction, and sending the agricultural experts up to the roof with soil and seeds to begin working on raising crops.
All the while rotating shifts for one manevery half hour, giving each man a chance to rest for a total of 5 hours or so before his next shift, keeping them refreshed and ready for combat at all times. Having each man serve a shift of one hour every 5-6 hours. And adding one man to the group on the roof, making a total of four men on the roof at any one point in time.
After two hours, the original team that secured the building will leave, and drive a caravan through the most certainly overcrowded and hostile streets, where they will get on the freeway, and proceed to Big 5 Sporting Goods, 5 miles north of their CP. Upon arrival, all 25 men will proceed into the store, handguns drawn, and covering each other. After clearing the store, whether it be from hostile survivors or zombies, the men will "liberate" all of the weapons they are able to carry without hindrance, and make as many trips as are required, then proceed to load all the ammunition into backpacks or camelbaks and the like. Each man will grab whatever he views as necessary for their continued survival, baseball bats, knives, backpacks, camelbaks, binoculars, scopes, whatever.
Upon retrieval of said items, they will return to their CP, and unload the weapons they liberated from the store, and proceed to drive their caravan once again through the most dangerous terrain, a hostile survivor environment. They will arrive at the first exit in Cotati, California, where they will exit, and proceed into the Military Surplus store, retrieve the owner his/her spouse, and all the MREs, and clothing, and the combat equipment they can grab. They will next break into Montana Hawk which is right next door, which is convenient, and take any and all guns they are able to find, taking as many books on guns and gun maintenance as they can fit, as well as any sportsmen or shooters who were at the range at that time, offering them safer haven if they can follow orders.
Pros:
Transportation:
Survivors:
Must maintain a stable frame of mind, and cannot be one to start fights easily.
In the case of an outbreak, will you be allowing other survivors to join you here?
There will be an examination process after the survivor has been quarantined for at least 1 week, followed by an interview process, and finally a 3 month probation, in which he/she will not be allowed to begin any fights, nor have aggravated another person.
Racism and Sexism will not be tolerated whatsoever.
