Big City Scenario

LOCATION

You are in a bar in New York City when you see the broadcast. All there is is city and zombies for miles. There are some piers to the north, but the streets are PACKED with cars.

LEVEL OF OUTBREAK

Since you are in New York City the outbreak is HUGE at least 1/3 of the city has joined the horde by now. That is A LOT of zombies.

EQUIPMENT

Since you were on a visit you don't have any of your survival gear/big guns with you. You always bring you S&W multi-tool and a licenced .45 with you. You also have a small Mag-Light and your car. You friend has some money on him too. Other than that it's just you, your friend, and whatever you can find in the bar and surrounding areas.

13th.Casualty:
I'd take the above said equipment, go to the nearest bike/ATV/motorcycle store, steal 1 or 2, then buy a "big" gun (and ammo) off the the first person I see. Then we'd go to the pier up north and get a yacht and hang out half a mile off shore, taking any sane people we can. Of course, there will be authorities there, so I'll take a couple of them. We'll come back from time to time to raid supermarkets.

Oh, and we'll take a fishing rod or two.

OK, i used to clean bars and night clubs, so i know there is probably handgun/shotgun under the bar, so I'd grab that, fortify the position around the bar (parking cars in rings around it [I'd hot-wire the cars, not that hard]), gather as many survivors, turn off lights, go to the bar's security room (some have them), and get gear / small arms equipment, make Molotov's with liquor, be quiet and try to wait it out, raiding surrounding buildings if needed.

First of all i would grab anything use-able from around the bar then head to my car and take some car seat padding (for fire starting), my crowbar, and the fold-up bike out of my trunk head to the closest inner city school and hole up there in the 2nd+ stories of the school after i grabbed all the non perishable food out of the cafeteria's pantry and even though it's unlikely wait till all the zombies are eliminated by armed forces.

Because I live in NYC(Brooklyn, just across the bridge from the Island), I would grab my skateboard, skate over the Manhattan or Brooklyn Bridge( depending on whether I was up or downtown) and get to my house, break the outdoor steps, use the Sheetrock in projectile weapons(I am a decent archer[guns are hard to come by in NYC, the licence laws are the center of all evil.]and can fire even the crappiest of makeshift arrows with some amount of deadliness) and proceed to wait for a while, and than hit the Fort Hamilton Military Base.

i use the towels to make fuses and the heavy liqour to make molotovs i take my 45 and the flashlight and head across town on foot in the back alleys and make my way home i use the molotovs to clear the crowd in front of the gunshop make my way in and loot a couple of high calibre rifles and as much ammo as i can carry i make my way back to the bar where my freind and the bartender is my freind and i take the rifles and head up to the roof we take out the zombies that are headed in and the bartender using the shotgun he keeps under the bar for protection takes out the ones that get past our scopes

Since 1/3 of NYC is about 7 million people (now zombies) and I have none of my team, I'd say we're pretty well screwed. As fast as humanly possible, we gather essential supplies and weapons, trying to keep it light, and run like a mofo towards the pier. Anybody else I encounter gets thrown out of my way and into the horde (unless they have a sufficient level of badassery). Jump in the boat and head for anywhere else.

Nexus_Oblivion: Sadly(because he thought of it first)....I would do exactly what BanditJack would do except I would get everything that can help me from the bar and take anyone else with me to the pier too via car or cars if there are too many people. In the event that everyone has already taken the boats I would find the closest building and try to hold up there.
