Scripture Supporting The Undead
I have been a Christian for the better part of my life, and though I am not the most devout Christian any longer, I was perplexed enough by the thought of such an event happening, that I made it a point to search for any Scripture I could find supporting the Undead, Reanimation, or just plain Zombies.
My research yielded some quite interesting results. Below this text I will include the original verses, and the interpretation that has been made by myself and the collaboration of close friends and family involved in my preparation for any Invasion.
First and foremost, let me begin the following by stating that this is merely the opinion of one (1) Christian, and the Bible has many depthy interpretations that can yield many different outcomes varying on the person and what they may wish to apply to the particular verse. The following text is written assuming that you (the reader) believe in a Biblical Armageddon.
1 Corinthians 15:21 - 21 For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. The above is the first verse I found supporting the Reanimation of the dead. Now, this leaves us with alot of room for interpretation, but as a Zombie enthusiast it yields only a few possibilities. Primarily we can look at it from a Resident Evil, or I Am Legend standpoint, in that man may yet create a synthetic virus that will bring about the reanimation of the dead. The other option for this verse is that Man's sheer wrong-doing has built up too many in dead, and in lieu of Dawn of the Dead, are walking the earth.
Isaiah 9:20 - And he shall snatch on the right hand, and be hungry; and he shall eat on the left hand, and they shall not be satisfied: they shall eat every man the flesh of his own arm. This particular verse has no real stating of how it may happen, but it does, in-fact read as if there is a good chance it will happen. It speaks of a man, or men, taking the right hand and still desire to eat. And the same with the left hand, speaking of an unrelenting desire for flesh, but unable to find it. Then it speaks of eating their own flesh. Now we don't know what mindset the undead will have, but it is always a possibility that will snack on themselves as long as the flesh is still warm. We'll have to see.
The final verse yields some fascinating proof of reanimation, more-so than the rest of the verses.
Zachariah 14:12 - 14:12 And this shall be the plague where with the Lord shall strike all nations that have fought against Jerusalem: the flesh of every one shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth. And finally, in conclusion of the three verses I have found discussing the dead rising to life, this one speaks the most of their appearance. It shows us a verbal representation of what we've seen displayed in movies and images. It also tells us that one of the plagues released upon the world near Armageddon will be a plague that caused the living to rot away. Sound familiar? We're given the literal word consume, or a modern translation of rot. How many other things can the verse be speaking about? Few.
If there are any further translations of the verses, or any further verses found, please, include them below.

-Kelkesh123 (This is a variant of Isaiah 9:20)
They will attack their neighbor on the right
but will still be hungry.
They will devour their neighbor on the left
but will not be satisfied.
In the end they will even eat their own children.

Hmm...I would have thought that the Book of Revelations would have had something about
the undead. Perhaps I'll look. But while the third verse included in this page seems to point toward
a flesh rotting disease, it does not seem to indicate any undeath or people eating flesh.

Nothing in "scripture" across the spectrum of those 3500-odd various religious systems known to man mention(s) anything specific about "reanimated dead".
Quoting Occidental belief Bible as a source for zombies and/or shambling undead is going to be hard to prove. Nothing "supernatural" has sent ideas into this existence from 'outside' with evidence that is provable.
When Unkle Zed shows up at your party, kill him again, let the priests and prophets try to find theology..

I don't think that it has much to do with zombies i think that is supposed to be more religious...
I don't know I'm not the best at interpreting things. |

Wasn't there a passage mentioned in the "Ghostbusters" movie about the dead rising from the graves? Not exactly a zombie possibility, but still deals with re-animation.
