---> Under Construction <----

First of all, i live in a small rural town. I can walk from one side of town to the other in half an hour or less. My house is currently situated at the edge of town, and within 2 walking minutes of a very large pine forest. That said, i will only be bugging in IF it's either a Class 1 or 2 outbreak. Class 3 and higher will be when i bug out.

Part 1: Bugging In

About my house:

My house is made of concrete. Houses here in Portugal are almost 99% of the time made of concrete with reinforced concrete basements. My house has 1 basement, floor level, top level and an attic.

When bugging in, i will be unable to destroy the stairs so extra reinforcements should be applied to the windows and doors. Although the doors are already aluminum, they still require extra strengthening to be able to withstand any attempt to break in.

My biggest concern will be barricading the windows. The blinds are crap plastic and would give in to the slightest touch and the windows themselves are double layered glass. I will most likely have to remove the windows themselves, make concrete (already have the materials needed for that) and brick up where the windows were.

The good news is that only 2 windows are accessible to anyone outside the house, and those will be the only ones i will have to barricade. All others are protected by a 10ft wall around the house and back yard and/or too high to reach.

After all that is done, i will be safe from wandering zombies trying to get into the house.

After barricading:

Right now there is about 1 weeks worth of canned food in the house (not counting food in BOB). As long as there is power there are enough frozen goods to last about a month. After bugging in, all frozen and perishable foods will be the first ones to be eaten while there is power. When and if power goes out, i will cook what i can and once that goes bad i will resort to canned food.

I also have a generator that could be used to power whatever is necessary, recharge batteries, etc.

Part 2: Bugging Out

When will i bug out? When i run out of supplies after i've bugged in, or at the first sign the outbreak becomes class 3 or 4.

Part 3: Digging In

My BOL is quite literally off in the middle of nowhere. More precisely a mountain. There might be abandoned structures around but it is unlikely. I picked this location because it is far away from civilization, and hard terrain for a human to navigate let alone a zombie.

Upon reaching my BOL, me and my group will be setting up a basecamp comprised of tents and build ourselves a temporary shelter. We will spend a few days listening to the radio before we venture out to scavenge materials for a more permanent home. There is a fresh water spring nearby which will provide us with all the water we need, as well as a large forest for firewood, building materials, etc. This location was also chosen due to its ample fertile grounds suited for agriculture.

Part 4: Living
[So you have escaped the plague, you are in your BOL, and now you have to do the hardest task of all: cope with your new daily life. What is that like? How long will you be doing that?]
