I was browsing the web when I came across this...
http://centerfiresystems.com/flare-rv85.aspx As I surfed looking for flares and other ammo I found this little item... http://www.americanspecialtyammo.com/26_5mm.html (The third Item down) That turns the Flare Rifle into a 12 gauge single shot, and as I surfed on found these... http://www.americanspecialtyammo.com/Shotgun_Adapters.html If you combine these items you can easily turn a long barreled flare rifle into a three gauge survival shotgun

There are certainly some interesting shotbun mods out there, and here are a couple that I have discovered.
For those of you that own the Remington 870, check out Bullpup Unlimited's 870 BP Conversion. It shortens the gun by about ten inches and moves the trigger infront of the reciever making it quite the compact package. For those who own a Saiga, The Mark V Kushnapup stock may be for you. The Mark V gives your Saiga a configuration similar to that of a Steyr AUG, only the knuckle guard now doubles as a handgrip. Another lovely bullpup mod for the Saiga is Center Balanced Systems Spike System. It gives your shotgun a futuristic pulse rifle appearance. http://www.bullpupunlimited.com http://www.kushnapup.com http://www.cbrps.com

This is a nice 12 or 10 guage lever action shotgun. It holds five rounds at a time in a tubular magazine. It was featured in various movies and video games, as well as television. It was black powder. The 1901 was a later, 10 gauge only model using smokeless powder.
What do you say to this? I don't know much about it, but it looks alright.

I bought a cheap Chinese shotgun called the SAS-12 (about 150 bucks) Similar to the one shown above, but it came with a 'regular' shotgun stock and brown fore grip, which I changed out to a pistol grip and sawed off the barrel to 18.5" with a muzzle break.
What I loved about it was the box magazine. I'm not a fan of loading a shotgun 1-shell-at-a-time… But after I got the thing, I found you could NOT find magazines for it. Anywhere... So I made my own. 10rounds, and they fit in a standard M16/AR-15 magazine pouch. I'll try to post some pics of the magazines in my profile if anyone is interested. I think with a little ingenuity, these could fit in Mossy 500's and alike too!

Most modern buckshot, at about 150 yards, will disperse abut as much as your outstretched fingers. Bit of an inaccuracy.

i have infact have heard a few people know how to make home made shotguns more like small canons but still shotguns never the less still im pretty sure out of all fire arms ranging from pistols to rifles shotguns will probably be the most easiest to make but possibly the most dangerous but i bet it could be done wether or not you were just using a thick metal tube all the way to making simple break actions

Keep it simple...Remington 870 or Mossberg 500. 12 gauge, pump action. Spare parts and ammo available on six continents. Initial cost, about $250 for the Moss, a little more for the Rem.

There is some info that is wrong.
bolt actions are not rare lever actions load from the top your dont need full brass shells for a shotgun enless your shooting any thing larger then 8ga (yes they do have shotguns larger) shotguns are not just for short range you can fire deer slugs for longer range shooting. I can get better pics on line of a bolt action and lever action in 30sec. its called google! |

I personally think shotguns are a great weapon against all matter of ZEDS. True, their downside is they lack the range to take care of far off ZEDS but I wouldn't want to engage ZEDS at a long range anyway. Why? Because why should you waste your limited ammo on a zombie you can so easily get away from? Ammunition should be conserved to a last case basis, no reason to waste it picking off a handful of zombies when there are going to be millions more of them to take their place.
A shotgun is a nice weapon because of it's stopping power, brute force, and disregard of precise aiming. You can fire a pistol all day at a zombie at mid-range and stand a good chance of not scoring a headshot. A shotgun is a simple weapon that many survivors can learn to use proficiently and really shine in tight quarters like inside a building (Where you will be doing the MAJORITY of your raiding to keep alive) where as your bolt action rifle capable of taking a ZED down at hundreds of feet away becomes much less useful. Aim near the head and you are almost assured an instant kill, aim at the legs in a hurry and you certainly gain a huge advantage over a crawling skinjob, and also can easily behead them with a nearby shovel or smash their head in without wasting any more ammo. In short, don't leave your shotgun behind just cause you cant kill something a mile away with it. Take it with you and hold on to it for dear life because you will be more than happy enough to have it when you are raiding a Zed-Infested Wal-Mart for the supplies you need. And what stops you from carrying that rifle on your back and your pistol in your belt at the same time? Nothing 'cept a good few more pounds of equipment.. and if you cant handle that then you shouldnt be the one doing the raiding.

you want a duckbill attatchment on the barrel to spread the shot into a horizontal line..that way you can cut their legs right off with one shot..they cant catch you if they cant run!

well, amist my yelling and lack of manners(brought on by a HORRIBLE day, of which yelling was my vent. Regardless, it was still very rude/dumb-assholic on my end.), i am GLAD that someone has put some effort into another one of the pages.
Thanks Much.
