Sig P239The Sig Sauer P239 is a traditional double action/single action semi-automatic handgun intended for concealed carry. It's available in 9mm, 40S&W, or .357SIG. It features a steel slide with aluminum alloy frame, no plastic parts on this gun!

This particular Sig is my fathers chosen concealed carry piece, chambered in .40S&W. Typical of most Sigs I've handled, this gun is extremely well designed and built. The standard single stack mags only hold 7 rounds, which some might see as a bad thing, but remember the intended role of this gun is to be concealed, not to shoot it out with a dozen bad guys.

Because it's a single stack gun, the grip is very comfortable, and unlike my subcompact XD40 you can actually fit all your fingers on the grip. This one has aftermarket Hogue grips
added that feel great in your hands, altogether this is one
comfortable gun to hold and shoot. Many guns designed for
concealed carry sacrifice comfort in order to be easy to hide,
this isn't one of those guns.

XD vs P239The initial double action trigger pull is long and heavy, which takes some getting used to. But every pull after that is a short and light single action trigger pull, making accurate shots much easier. This weapon is intended to be carried in double action mode (With the hammer down) and includes a decocker to safely lower the hammer. Because of this, no external manual safeties will be found on this gun.

I've been shooting this gun for years, and probably only seen it fail once or twice (Probably due to limp wristing). I'd definitely trust my life to this gun, it's accurate, reliable, and powerful. Both me and my father have spent time carrying this weapon, it's very comfortable in an IWB holster. Being a Sig, it's a little bit more expensive (Around $700ish or more) than your run of the mill Glock or XD ($500ish). But I'd say it's well worth the extra couple hundred bucks if you want a high quality concealable pistol that's a step above your average handgun.
