Solar Battery ChargerThis is a featured page

Solar Light ChargerBatteries are needed to power your flashlights, radios and walkie-talkies will be needed after Z-day. There are many options for buying a expensive solar battery charger and they work great, but they are usually attached to large solar panels.

If you do not have one, then how are your going to recharge your batteries?

Shown is a cheap LED Solar powered (and recharged) landscape light that I bought at Walmart for $4.00 each. This one runs on a single AA size rechargeable battery and the entire unit weighs only 4 ounces!

I bought four of them to use as a reusable solar light source for camping instead of using my flashlights or packing a lantern. The plastic "spike" makes it easy to place them in the ground around your camp for lighting.

The top of the unit is a small solar panel that recharges the AA battery inside each day and then powers the single LED light at night for about 6-8 hours.

Adapting for a Battery Charger:

It's a simple process and takes only a screwdriver to access the battery.

To get to the battery, there are 3 screws to be removed to retrieve the battery. Once the battery is charged, it acts like any other AA battery and can be used in the flashlight (pictured). Then insert a dead rechargeable battery and let it charge the next day. By doing this, you can constantly keep recharging your batteries and you don't have to buy an expensive battery charger.

I suspect that most solar powered units using a "rechargeable battery" work like this and can be adapted to work as battery chargers. I will research more options and get back to you in the future : )

Tips:

Buy several and you can recharge more than one battery during the day.

Put them on the outside of your bug-out-bag to charge while you are on the move.

Scroungers:

You are looking for items that have or list as having a "rechargeable battery".
