Strategic Offense and Defense
Since we are planning to beat those zeds when they start their outbreak to rule the world, we need strategic offense and defense measures. I have my own, why not add yours?
*Defense: Aside from creating our own fortresses, how can we protect ourselves in the unstoppable outbreak against increasing zombie population because of unprepared humans?
Here is my line of defense, add yours. (Name first, equals sign, then your opinions, separated by numbers or at paragraphs)
1) To keep the zeds off my turf, I need to make lots and lots of traps. PITFALLS with SPEARS, THORNS, POISONOUS ANIMALS, can be added. In front of the traps, there can be lots of aligned BARRELS WITH HEAVY OBJECTS lined in at least two rows and on top of the other can be formidable, and can be added by SAND or DIRT BAGS in rows and top of the other is pretty effective.
1.b) Add some distractions, what about some PITFALLS in different areas apart from your place (better if added on a map to know where they are, and better if beside a large building), in front of SPEARS STICKED WITH MEAT and some EMERGENCY FLARES, and GLOW STICKS, plus SMOKE and a WARNING SIGN SAYING "ZOMBIE TRAP DO NOT APPROACH" on the side of a building (painted in big numbers or in a large sign) or a sign if not near a building (the TRAPS not your fortress not in front of the building)
2)While disturbing the zeds in the pits, you can plan about anything in your home (fortresses)
3)After planning , you can set your escape route by fortifying the sides with bricks or any hard materials.
4) If you want to escape, make sure you have extra temporary, or many unoccupied fortresses built, so, make your last line of defense. Divide half of your group to half.
4.b) Make sure you have your escape vehicle/vehicles. One half can stock supplies in the vehicle while making it fit for all, and stocking extra fortifying materials in top. It's better if it's like a train that many vehicles are stocked with rope. (Better if you have these three vehicles in exact order, bus (or RV), an ambulance, a fire truck, and a semi-trailer truck (the one who can stock many vehicles in it. Remove vehicles, make it man powered humans. So in case of injury, the train can be stopped, the injured will be on ambulance while people on back defend). My tip for vehicles is making it many, and in fixed order (Many-people vehicle, support vehicle (like food stock), health vehicle, and back up) Best to place spikes on front of the vehicle, and at the back to make sure no zeds can go near it. Windows should be covered by metal or wood, and there is enough space for everybody.
4.c) Next, is the other half (the unused). They can be used as last line of defense to disturb the zeds while the other group stocks the things. The whole defending half should be stocked in a hole rows. Like this : 10 columns, 2 rows. First row, man and stock of ammo (MA) skip, then another MA, then skip, and another MA, and another skip and MA, until we reach skips and MA in maximum 10 columns of MA, and 8 skips. In the second row, we skip, and MA, skip and MA, skip and MA until we reach a max of 10 skips and 8 MA. Why? because, first column will first fire, when need to reload, the second row will. then , when the first needs to reload, they reload and the second fires, a repetitive order can wipe a whole group out. But make sure it isn't a squad, it is in the entrance of the fortress, nearly twenty steps nearer. Plus a barricaded barrier with rocks guard, we can wipe zeds with using snipes, or throwing and far ranged weaponry.
4.d) Squads can be used after the stocking half is finished. Maybe custom squads, little squads, maybe of five person each, is out to assist the wild zeds entering the fortress while the squads are in the corners. Must be barricaded and covered with barrels with heavy objects, plus the squad members should be wrapped in full leather equipment, and plus helmets that covers full head.
4.e) After a help of the squads, each squad will take place by retreating by telling on radios that each squad leader must BRING. One by one, a squad is aided to escape by the last line (4.c) and the other squads.
4.f) When all are done, the last line is left. Each member should have a smoke bomb. As each one retreats, one will throw a smoke bomb to the zeds, until all retreats to the fortress.
4.g) After retreating (better if you have a terrace) throw lots of smoke bombs in the zeds, and as each retreats to the vehicle (if bus, the retreating people should be on back seats first, filling to the front). Then escapes to the route.
4.h) Take the nearest shortcut to the nearest fortress or retreat place you have, having at least one rest point of 30 minutes in each one hour travel. But people should stick at least ten steps to their vehicle, and the strongest people take turns patrolling the grounds. Crushing zeds by your vehicle if you run on a small group of them.
karaz: i say a good way to protect your self is in a tree fort
[RE]Leon: Check out the Small Area Defense page. Its probably where I'd end up, seeing how I've already made a fortress in my shed.
Eizirhk:
if you are on a fortress, why need barricades? fortress walls are thick.... it will be stupid to call a 2 inch wall a fortress...
and besides... how can a horde of zombies penetrate a 1 meter thick wall huh? if you have a fortress, all you
need is supplies like food and equipments... once you had all of this, there you can now plan you're escape from
the city... the murder hole i mean...
KaikelX:
A fortress is the catch term for the place you are hiding out in, that has been 'fortified' with defenses (Hence, fortress) Also, it improves morale saying "Back to the fortress!" more than, "Back to our sorry excuse for a hide out!"

Well..why not try a camouflaged hideout like a treehouse???
if humans cant see a well camouflaged treehouse...how much more those dumb-ass zombies?
Azkeil: Normally, I say go into a house or somewhere high, possibly a bussiness facility, or a hospital, and I know the hospital idea is probably one of the most awol ideas ever, but hey, on top is a helicopter, right? This is unless someone else has gone to it and flown off, or if the doctors flew off to go help the inevitable zombies. Doing this, will take some fire power, and atleast a group of 12. If you choose a tree house, you will have to get rid of the ladder, or if you have a rope ladder, pull it up. Make sure you have guns, atleast a shotgun. make sure you have an axe if teh zombies find some way to get up to the tree house entrance. Cut them down as they come up to the door, and make them wish they were never born again. Next, if you are in a bussiness facility, this one will take way more work, but if you have the will to live, then take it by the balls and give it a shot. All you have to smash the ladder, the stairs, and disable the elevator, even if they can't use it, you can never be to safe. You have to make sure you have enough food, water, and ammo to survive. This mission will require atleast 7 people. And the hospital? Well hell, you have to be fuckin loopy to do this, but its a good chance and reward in the end. Ok, this is what you do, you make your way to a hospital, make sure you have atleast 12 people, then get the group, and make sure they are full on ammo, and each have a powerful gun, most likely a m4, an AK-47, a riot shotgun, (Just incase you hit up the police station, a normal shotgun will work, too) and a katana, which will hock limbs off like a knife through hot butter. Once you make it into the hospital, make sure you got people watching you back, and if you notice anything moving, asides your group, even if its a survivor, because it could just be someone who is already infect, blast them away. Once you make it to the roof, or if you do this in teh car before you get there, check for infection bites or wounds on them that could cause an infection, and termanate them. After you have accomplished this procedure, get into the helicopter and leave. Also, its a good idea, to make sure that there is a helicopter before you get outside of the car...cuz if you don't, you just wasted your life, because im sure the zombies are pretty hungry right about then. Once you get on the helicopter, make sure everyone is atleast sane. Once you make your way out of there, you should have a destination planned out, as for, if it is a virus, head to the north, and make it to the cold areas, such as alaska, or northern canada. The virus will most likely not be able to sustain the cold, and eventually the body will die, and the virus with it. Make sure that the helicopter has gas, and hopefully you will find survivors inside canada. Once you do, get a defense ready, just incase the virus adapts to the cold, in which you better have a base waiting to kick their ass. Once your defense is held and decent, and you have a good amount of ammo and supplies, take shifts with the survivors, and if there is sight of a zombie, get everyone, and make sure you have alarms to have everyone report the the barracade, so they can kill the zombies. If you can, set mines far from the base, but close enough so the zombies won't miss them. Once this is done, you will be able to exterminate any zombies, and survive until the virus has died out.

A novel tactic MIGHT be to use the skin jobs themselves; Collect an army of a few hundred, put them in a shipping container or something to control them, then release them on your enemies as shock troopers.

dig a trench if possible 2 feet deep and 2 feet wide all the way around the perimeter
then add spears or spikes also bear traps and broken glass tthree feet in front use steel cable or chain about 4 inches off the ground make them fall in face first into the newly made moat a large base if possible should then be put on the other side of the moat in others words a three foot fence to help stop the zombies from crawling out of the moat spears used once again as they give distance to strike stab the monster in the head / arms / legs farther away maybe fifty feet or so have trip lines with explosives to blow up zombies this is a great alarm clock sink wholes: take a shoe box put a peice of plie wood in it with about a dozen or so nails then barry it the zombie steps down the nails goes through and into the zombie thus slowing it down simlair to a land mine but no explosion The ladder ten foot high brick wall and a wooden fence with holes in it to put a riffle through and then shoot the zombies |

Poisons can be either completly useless, or a giant help in a Zombie infestation. This relys on the fact whether a zombie's heart circulates blood or not. IF it does (which would mean they would bleed if wounded) then any sort of poison could be effective against them. A poison that would normally kill a man should be completly inefective against the zombies even if they do have circulating blood, but if you engineered your own muscle relaxers with everyday medicine it could be a deadly weapons. One of these would contract all the muscles of a Zed and cause them to either slow down or completely collapse, considering they used to be just like us it should in theory work.
Now even if the poisons didnt work on zeds they could still be used on humans if needed. Any ideas on the subject? |
