Many people will have noticed that a Threat Meter was added to the front page. This is something that has been asked for and suggested by many people for a long time, but I am hoping that we can make it a little more useful than the vague, unhelpful DHS system. To give you an example:

"Threat Level is Orange."
"Well...what does that mean?"
"...It's gone up."
"But what should I do?"
"...Be worried, I guess?"

So what I am putting here will be a suggestion for a new Basic Response According to Indicated News Stories system. Because every system needs a cool Acronym.

New Level Threat has increased Threat has decreased
0 - Standard Preparation --- Go back to daily life
1 - Elevated Check BOB, Stockpile and keep to hand Head home if safe, unboard your house
2 - Severe Get any last minute items, Bug In or Out Prepare to return home
3 - High Head to BOL ---

We don't need to delineate between so many levels, because our criteria is much simpler. Normal life, unconfirmed reports, confirmed reports and imminent danger.

At the moment, the unconfirmed reports are sporadic, and so we can pretty much cover them individually. But with an increase in these things, it might be helpful to track these geographically. If there are many unconfirmed reports coming from one area, that is more significant than a single report from each continent.
