I have been wondering: After Z-day, when survivors have establishe their forts and began rebuilding, weapons will be most likely be geared especifically towards zombie-killing (decapitating/chopping skulls). What would these blades of the zombocalipse look like?
The website http://www.zombietools.net/ has has some nice-looking (but of dobutful usefulness) swords. Will they look like what post-zday swordsmiths will make? Post your ideas, comments and the like. (Also, if someone has one of those swords, could you give a little review? To see if they are worth it)

I feel that your section on materials is grossly oversimplified and contains erroneous information.
First of all, not all tool steels are the same. Many in fact are extremely brittle. Because of this, their use in swords would be extremely limited. Secondly your information on stainless steel is also wrong. Stainless steels specifically use Chromium as an alloying element, not nickle. Additionally, stainless steels are not by nature brittle. The primary reason that few swords are made from stainless steel is that it cannot be forged by a smith without causing problems with sugaring. We live in the 21st century. Stop trying to cling to antiquated knowledge and apply advanced knowledge and research to better, stronger blades from materials that will not break, rust, or loose their edge.

Feedback? Thoughts?
I've made it clear about the swords versus guns thing but just because I prefer and suggest the use of guns does not mean I don't have classical training on the use of swords. I've been a free study in the ARMA for some time and only recently began actually training in it. I've also recently joined the SCA and that's an excellent practical outlet for my ARMA knowledge. That should be enough to start with. Everything in the article applies to machete but a sword is better at it. I also didn't touch katana because frankly, I don't know anything about the use of or techniques, and I feel no cultural connection to Asian weapons. I'll write up an attach a Sword Maintenance 101 as well, if there is interest.
