The Annual ZSDW Weapon Election
Back in 2010, a vote was taken as to what the best weapons would be when the SHTF. Now, the time has come to vote again. Vote for your favorite firearms and see how they place in the minds of others.
Voting will commence on August 16th, exactly three weeks from today, and will last for one week. Until that time, threads will be created in order to nominate the firearms they believe are worthy of being on the ballot.
Voting will work in a similar manner as the moderator elections. Members will pick their top three firearms in each category. The 1st choice will receive 3 votes, the 2nd 2 votes, and the 3rd one vote. There will be a "voting thread" created on the 16th where the votes can be placed (it is not believed that these votes need be anonymous.)

I'm new here, so forgive me if I add things in the wrong spot.
As far as weapons choices go, I have some variations depending on whether the SHTF is a social collapse or a zombie apocalypse. For example, in a zombie apocalypse (ZA) I'm looking for volume of ammunition as opposed to heavier calibers. For social collapse (SC) I want my M1911-A1 .45ACP as a sidearm. It has better stopping power and is more reliable. But in a ZA situation, stopping power is not an issue. Either you penetrated the skull and scramble the brains or you don't. So for teh ZA I'd prefer a Glock or Sig 9mm, with some 15+ round magazines. As for a rifle, I think the AR15 wins. One of the best things about it is that you can have 2 upper assemblies and, in effect, have two different specialized weapons with the weight and bulk of 1.5 weapons. Start with a 16"bbl on a rifle with a collapsible stock, add combat sights and quad rails and yuo have the basis for a top quality close combat weapon. Have a separate upper assembly with a 24"bbl and a good scope, and you can turn your CQB rifle into a 500 yard sniping weapon in a matter of minutes. Same ammo, same magazines, and same trigger pull. Plus you can always canabalize one for parts for the other. |

So, basically, you know how it goes, just vote for your favorite 3 Light Machine Guns off of this list, if you could, some information on why you'd choose what you did would be nice, but I don't care really. *NOTE* I put some MG's that are basically derivatives of eachother because they have differences that make one better than the other in certain conditions! Anyway Light Machine Guns: - Maschinengewehr 42 (MG-42) - Browning M1919A6 - Type 11 Light Machine Gun - Lewis Automatic Machine Gun (Lewis gun) - L4A1 Bren - RPD - RPK-74 - Heckler and Koch MG-4 - M249 - FN Minimi - Steyr AUG H-BAR - FN MAG - M240 - M60E4 - Stoner 63 - Browning Automatic Rifle (B.A.R.) - (Suggested) Pulemyot Kalashnikova (PKM) - (Suggested) HK-21 (All variants) - (Suggested) Ameli So let'sa see. (EDIT 1) Removed calibres, since there are more than just those for a lot of these, and voting should be based on the MG itself (which includes all calibers) and I did not realize that myself at first -Allowing your own Light Machine Gun submissions, i'll be sure to add any people want to nominate to this list. It's not as organized as a nomination thread but It's a bit too late because I'll just start a mess in the forums, so it's all I can do. Also make sure it is an LMG and not a Heavy Machine Gun like the DShK or M2 or a Medium Machine Gun. |
