Welcome to The Zombie Survival & Defense Wiki! On this page you’ll find links to important articles and info that will get you on the fast track to becoming a valued member of our site. As a favor to you, I’ll keep this page short and sweet, and hopefully you’ll do us a favor and read it!
The Basics -Code of Conduct: Our CoC is not much different than that of other forums; nothing offensive, obscene, disruptive, etc. Those who break these rules may be warned, temporarily banned, or permanently banned. http://www.zombiesurvivalwiki.com/page/Code+of+Conduct
Survival Plans Many members of the ZSDW are experienced survivalists who have intricate plans and loads of cool gear. Because of this, some new members feel they need to beef up their plan with guns they don’t own and experience they don’t have. This is the fastest way to be labeled a “mall ninja” (a person who claims to be an expert on weaponry and likes to brag about their supposed expertise). If the only weapon you have is a baseball bat and your plan is to stay home with your family, you will NOT be made fun of. Other members will appreciate your honesty and will give you constructive criticism. Here’s an example of an elaborate and well thought out plan: http://www.zombiesurvivalwiki.com/page/StrykerPez%27s+Survival+Plan
User Profiles When you contribute your opinion to a thread, other members like to know what kind of experience/knowledge you have to back it up. An empty profile tells the rest of us that you don’t take our site too seriously, or that you have no experience to tell about. So add a picture and tell us about yourself and your survival plan. It’s greatly appreciated! Use this template to share what gear you have: http://www.zombiesurvivalwiki.com/page/Bug+Out+Bag+Template
Spelling & Grammar Unlike other forums, we strongly encourage members to use their best spelling, grammar, and punctuation when participating. This shows members that you respect the time they're taking to read what you have to say. We don’t demand perfection; we simply ask you try your best. Also, be sure to break up large amounts of text with line breaks to avoid a “wall o’ text”.
The Panic “The Panic” by moderator PedroAsani is one of the most mentioned articles when a new member shares an unrealistic plan. In his article, Pedro explains what happens when a large group of people realize something bad is about to happen. Usually, people start panic-buying, looting, or clogging the streets trying to get out of town. This makes visits to stores or gun shops more dangerous than helpful. Your required reading for today is this! http://www.zombiesurvivalwiki.com/page/The+Panic
Teenage Survival Preparing for a zombie apocalypse (or any other disaster) is difficult when you’re a teenager with limited or no funds. Because we usually recommend teens stay with their family during a disaster, this article offers suggestions on how to get your parents to prepare. http://www.zombiesurvivalwiki.com/page/Teenage+Survival
Why Wal-Mart Will Kill You! As mentioned in “The Panic”, most people plan on heading down to their local Wal-Mart once sh*t hits the fan. This article goes in-depth on why that probably isn’t a good idea. http://www.zombiesurvivalwiki.com/page/Why+Wal-Mart+Will+Kill+You
The Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks We’ve all read it, and we all found it entertaining. That being said, this site is NOT based on The Zombie Survival Guide (ZSG). The contents of this book have been hotly debated here and you will quickly noticerealize that we all have our own opinions about Max's works. If you know nothing about zombies or disaster preparation, the ZSG is a fun place to start learning, but don’t bet your life on it. If you’d like to know more, read this thread: http://www.zombiesurvivalwiki.com/thread/3303672/Criticism+against+the+ZSG
