Chapter 1 Chaos

DAY 1

The fine line is the line between becoming one of them or staying human. This is my story. My name is Chris Williams and it was a normal Saturday when the outbreak occurred, I was foolishly unprepared and thought that this could never reach me, I was so deadly wrong. As I awoke going down stairs I got ready for work putting on a suit and eating my breakfast with haste because I was late already I raced to my car and started for the office. On the way there, it seemed so unnatural that cars were everywhere leaving trying to leave the city and ambulances were slammed into sidewalk unmanned. As I reached the office around 10 to 15 people were running toward me with some attackers hot on their trail, I wanted nothing to do with it so I quickly opened the automatic gates and drove into the facility. The Office was a three story building with an elevator and stairs, fully stocked frigs, kitchens, tall gates, a necessary key card to gain access, bathrooms and large office spaces. As I walked in the office I tried to use the key card on the elevator but it didn't work so I opened the stair way entrance and walked up. As I entered my level was no one there, which I thought was particularly odd. As a made my way to my office one of my co-workers Fred jumped me and scared the shit out of me. He began screaming "HAVE YOU BEEN BITTEN" I looked at him in amazement as I was one the floor sure that I was going to die. I answered a silent "no". He then dropped the crowbar and slipped in front of me and I asked him, "What happened". He replied " My family all died" he started sobbing as I picked him up and went into the kitchen. He told me about what had happen to his family and also what was going on, I was staring at him with amazement because of the horror that would confront us. We said to each other that we would make a teem and face any dangers coming toward us. Thus our troubles began, understanding that he had already taken out the elevator, we searched together down the hall way for the emergency axe and the tool kit that should be next to it. Reaching the equipment we grabbed what we could and quickly went back to an office. Fred said "We should make this our headquarters because this room has one window to the balcony, is near the exit, and can be barricaded easily." I agreed and we went and took out the first and second stair ways and pushed the rubble against the door to block the entrance. Next we got a ladder and took out the emergency stair way, we took a peek outside and saw bodies everywhere outside of the office. I whispered, "hey you know those off road Ford F150s the designers use," he nodded "lets drive them near here and use them for a quick escape. as we walked toward the vehicles I notice something walked up on us, I spun around and the zombie ran and tried to push one of us over, we quickly side stepped and I hit the axe on his head as Fred took a good home run hit on his back. I looked down and gasped, it was our boss that we all hated, I started to laugh silently and Fred joined in. We found a pistol and a couple extra clips, Fred checked them and they were .45cal rounds. Back to work we went, we took both vehicles and parked them beside the door making a barrier, looking outside, I quickly nudged Fred and he looked too, it seemed we alerted a couple hundred zombies too the main gate, shit. Back up the ladder we went and kept on getting supplies from every level and realized we didn't have enough water so we turned on our taps and showers to fill some buckets we found. Stopping for a break; we took some sandwiches and ate, "hey Chris," "yeah," "how long do you think the generators will last?" "Dunno, but there is definitely still power in the city right now because generators aren't in use," "true," as he said that the power cut and there was a moment of silence before the generators started and the gentle hum began. I thought "shit" I asked Fred " do you know how to use a gun because I don't," Fred replied " yeah I do but I could teach you too" so for the next half hour he explained how to clean, aim, and fire the gun. After finishing we ran and picked up our buckets of water, and filled other buckets and met back at the headquarters, it was dusk by then. "Chris," "yeah" "do you think we will make it through the night?" "maybe" "should me make sleeping shifts?" "sounds good ill go first and get some more supplies" "okay um here you'll need this" he handed me the Beretta "thanks remember lock the doors and ill knock so you can open the door got it?" "yeah." I got up wondering "should I get more food stuffs or get some equipment" I decided that we had enough and went to the equipment room. While passing the security room, I decided to look at the screen for a bit, and I gasped because there was a zombie on my level by our headquarters. I sprinted as fast as I could and reached the headquarters and saw Sally one of our co-workers just zombified, I quickly used my axe and swung at her head, but missed and hit the neck, I tried to pull it out with no avail and took out the crowbar and smashed it into her shoulder and then tried again as I was backing up because of her approaches toward me, I thought "NO NO NO I AM NOT DYING TODAY!" quickly I dropped the crowbar and ran, the zombie ran after me and knocked me on the ground I quickly took the gun and shoved it on the bottom of the head and shot, I winced and looked up seeing that she was silent. I look in disbelief for a while and Fred came out and said "WHAT HAPPENED" I replied "god dammit you sleep like a bear." he helped me take the body and throw it out of the building after saying a prayer. We decided it was too risky to take shifts anymore and we went into the room and barricaded the window and going to sleep after making sure the headquarters were secure.

DAY 2

Waking up I groaned and shook Fred saying "morning'" he grunted and into the kitchen we went, taking some eggs we scrambled them and discussed our plans. "Fred we should first see how the zombie got there and then do recon on our floor then get some supplies" "Chris I have to disagree we need more equipment and supplies so we can get the hell out of here" "Yeah but we have all need here for a while how about we stay until its overrun or runs out of supplies, after all we are in the shopping district of the town," "okay I see now that's a good plan now if only we had more weapons," "Don't worry Fred we will make some." finishing up breakfast we first scanned each office quarter and took what we needed from them, extra light bulbs, sweets, snacks, and some knives. After raiding the office quarters we took down the plastic, locked the doors on the ones made as part of the office. and barricaded the elevator and main stair way entrance with them, putting tables behind them and on top of other tables, Fred suggested that we get some water so we don't dehydrate and I agreed. Getting to the equipment room I looked around and grabbed 4 hammers, 2 circular saws, a chainsaw, 4 nail guns, and grabbed the whole gasoline shelf, which was made out of sheet metal. As we dropped them off at the head quarters we ran back taking the welding torches, some flares, belts, duct tape, and a cart. Opening the door to the headquarters Fred quickly took apart and welded the sheet metal to the frame of the window and put the rest in the corner, I took the nail guns, a couple of rulers, and weights and duct tape them together. I put some gasoline into the gas chamber and turned it on. It was surprisingly quiet and as I jammed a strip of nails into the slot, aimed, fired at a poster 15 feet away and it flew. The nail was a bit off but it hit the poster in a 5 inch radius, I thought "wow" I gave it to Fred and he whistled and tried it out too I made another one with the left over supplies and made a sling for easy access. I sheathed a knife and put into on my belt. I asked Fred if he wanted the gun he said that he didn't so I put it into my pocket, looking at myself I thought "wow" I looked like a mess. I told Fred that I was going to take a shower and he came along too and stood guard outside as I took a shower dried off and looked inside the lockers for something fresh and good looking. I took a black tee-shirt some black pants a denim belt and a long sleeve shirt under the tee shirt. I looked in the mirror and it looked like I was ready for war, I hung up the suit then did some other business went outside and said to Fred that it was his turn, he smiled and chuckled because of my outfit and went in without a word. after 30 minutes he came out and he had a tee-shirt a jacket and pants that were all natural fitting to him and he said "man I can't believe you forgot these" and handed me my improvised nail gun, knife, and Beretta. I said "shit" he laughed and we went upstairs. We went to the conference room and turned on the news as we ate lunch and it said that the world was in chaos and the only places safe are military base. We looked at each other and we both new what we were thinking, we were doomed. We went back to headquarters and opened the closet and found some backpacks, we filled them up with food nail strips and other supplies, on the shelf there was a couple flashlights and a pack of batteries which we took too. We began to discuss our pan to get out of here and get more help "Hey Fred" "yeah" "should we begin the move some of this stuff to the trucks and start armoring them you know in case we have to leave?" "that's a good idea we should do it tomorrow and when we leave what should we do?" "well if everything is lost then we could try and get to sea" "oh yeah but Chris do you know how to sail?" "no you" "not really" "what do you mean not really?" "well I used to sail a bit" "well lets do it then" "I don't know if I . . . fine" "okay lets go get ready for the occasion", no sooner had I said it when we heard a crashing thudding noise, we ran down with our weapons and peeked behind the F-150s, shit.

Day 2 - Part 2

The main gate collapsed and we needed to leave, NOW!. we quickly went up stairs quietly and took everything from the headquarters, and put it in the truck. The trucks themselves were made for off road construction site with a flat bed cover. After the trucks were full of our equipment the zombies were still wandering through the parking structure. We used one of the circular saws to cut a opening in the top of each truck and wielded a hatch on them(2 trucks total) hoping in we started the car and through the radios we agreed that we would go through in a line and run through the zombies. The service gates opened and the zombies turned and saw us then charged at us, I swear there were hundreds. Accelerated through zombies was hazardous work while blood and guts flew everywhere, some zombies tried to grab on to the vehicle, one grabbed onto the handle of my car and luckily it was locked, I opened the window a peek and shot him in the face and he let go. Our current position was around 700 rough miles to the Pacific ocean, it was going to be a hard fight. we sped away. on the road we were so proud of what we had done because if we didn't leave we would surely have died. We stopped at a gas station and got as much gas as possible and ran back to the cars. There was a gun shop next to it. We wrenched the door open with a crowbar and we were in disbelief. A brunette girl put a gun to my head and said "LEAVE OR ILL BLOW YOUR HEAD OFF." I didn't know how to react, but I said "cool it its okay we ain't bitten, were sorry we will leave" He said "NO MAN NO THE LAST GUY WHO SAID THAT KILLED MY SISTER." While he was panicking I used a Crav-Magav move and pushed the gun upward, ducked then elbowed him in the face. He fell and I wretched his gun away. "Fred" I yelled "Get what you can and we should tie him up." We tied him with some nylon ropes and searched him and took all his weapons, I took him to my car and tied him again to the car seat. We found some guns left over from other raids, we took everything, 2 M1 carbines, 4 glocks, 1 AR15 with mods, 5 tactical vests, 3 night vision goggles, 2 flashlights, 30 boxes of .45cal ammo, a ammo crate full of an assortment of clips fully loaded, some canned food, 3 boxes of batteries, some scrap metal, and a bazooka. It was almost dusk by then and we went to a near by house and parked the cars side by side, we took the guns and some ammo. we set up a small tent and slept.

DAY 3

the next day we were awaken by a cry "LET ME GO LET ME GO." we brought up the girl and started to talk to her,
Chris-"so what’s your name"
girl-"why do you care"
Fred-"come on we ain't going to hurt you"
girl-"well seeing that I am not dead that's true"
Chris-"so what’s your name (smiles)"
girl-" my name is Eli got it Now get me untied!"
Fred-"sure sure"
Chris-" here so tell us your story"
Eli-"well I am 17 now but I was on vacation with my family when this shit happened to me, so we ran and that gun shop you were just in"
Fred-"yeah?"
Eli-"we hid there we were doing fine until some guys came and raided the dam thing, and took my sister because they were in a panic"
Chris-"wow do you know where they are?"
Eli-"they are by a 7-11 by the freeway"
Chris-"what do they have"
Fred-mumbling "probably lots of firepower"
Eli-"yeah they took only what was in the front through, shotguns an M60 machine gun, lots of shells, some smgs and handguns."
Chris-"well lets stay here and get organized for a while."
Fred-"but what about her sis . . ."
Chris-"we will get her no worries"
Eli-"thank you thank you"(silently)
I thought to myself, I am so god dam foolish
After the whole ordeal we distributed guns, I took a M1 carbine with a fold-able metal stock, 20 clips for the M! carbine, a sig saur P226 with .45cal rounds, 5 clips for that, a tactical vest, a bayonet, and slung the bazooka on my back. Fred took the AR15 with mods, 20 clips for the AR 15, the old Beretta, 2 clip for that, a tactical vest, and the crowbar. Eli took a M1 carbine, 10 extra clips, tactical vest, and a bayonet. We looked at each other and nodded we were ready. We ran down the street looking out for zombies. non came out, thus we reached the house across the street. we looked at the emplacements there was the maned machine gun on the roof surrounded by sandbags and every window was covered with sheet metal, we saw 3 guys on guard behind a makeshift wall. There were a total of five people on guard and heaven knows how many resting. I told Fred and Eli not to open fire until I gave a signal. I snuck our the back and made my way around the 7-11 and when no one was looking I dashed to the building next to the 7-11 and I crept to ward the back. Some of the people had helmets on, I crept to the wall and started to craw through the high brush. I started to make my way to word the guard farthest to the back I covered his mouth and stabbed him in the neck. Then I dragged the body back into the shadows. Seeing that there was no way to get my way to the person in the front I threw a flare, Fred and Eli started to shoot. The guards started to return fire ducking behind the makeshift wall. the —60 started to chatter. I slid the bayonet into my sleeve, picked up the bazooka and ran back a bit and kneeled and armed the bazooka. I aimed at the M60 and then wishing I knew what I was doing pushed the trigger and the rocket shot out it was off a bit but hit a sandbag and there was a deafening boom and the stop of the —60. People started to stream out of the 7-11 armed to the teeth with smgs. Fred started to pick them off as they ran. One of the guys saw me and pointed, my world was turned upside down. I ducked behind some rubble and their Smg started to chatter. Bullets hit everywhere. I aimed at one man's arm and fired. He twisted around and fell over. However my head was exposed for a second and I was grazed by a bullet. I started to run in a zigzag to my right and then to ward the group of men. Bullets flew everywhere, one hit me in the chest and I fell. Amazing I got back up I knew that this was a live of die situation. I picked up a rock and tossed it to ward an attacker who caught it, probably because he thought it was a grenade, then I kneed him in the groin, pushed him forward while running for word and his friends shot him in the back to get to me. I then took my side arm and shot a guys foot, turned then and shot another guy in the arm. The men defending the entrance were taken care of and so were the guards. I looked at my friends position and gave them a thumbs up and entered the building. As I entered there were two more guys shaking with guns facing the floor, I aimed at one and he dropped his gun in terror the other started to aim I shot his leg and then his gun. I asked in a low voice "where is the girl." the guy pointed. I entered the back of the room and that's when I blacked out. I woke up and there was a man holding a gun to my head saying, "well well well what do we have here" I felt around and I was bound and my weapons gone. I said "go to hell" He shot me but missed and grazed my leg. I chuckled as my hand felt my bayonet and I cut the ropes silently. He picked me up by my head and said "don't screw with me you piece of shit! your friends are right next to you." I said is that so out of the corner of my eye I saw Elie and Fred, Fred said "we had no choice." I smiled, let the ropes fall then I slashed him in the arm pit and brought the knife toward his neck. I said let me go or die, he let go and I knocked him out. I cut my leg restraints and did the same with the others. We took our weapons and tactical vests and put it back. The two guys were guarding the door but one look at us told them to surrender. We found Eli's sister bound to a chair we untied her and Fred gave her a piggyback ride because she was knocked out. We walked out of there never looking back.

Day 4

Well we walked back to our roof last night and it was pouring rain, we scrambled into the tent and went to sleep almost automatically. Today there were big plans, we discussed it over some cans of chicken,
Fred-"we will have to move soon because of the lack of supplies around here and moving closer to the shore line is necessary if we want to get out of here"
Chris-"true true, but first *turns to Eli* what’s your sister's name?"
Eli-"Samantha or Sam for short, but why did you ask?"
Chris-"nothing really just wanted to know everyone"
Fred-"Chris, what about my plan?"
Eli-"well I think it’s a good one too"
Chris-"yeah but we lack the supplies to go 430 miles roughly, and I think that we should move to another small town to get more supplies and survivors if we can."
Fred-"I think there's a dilemma to that because not all people are like Eli and will immediately trust us."
Chris-"yeah I know, but we need more help if we want to get anywhere"
Fred-"gotcha"
Sam_*wakes up*"where am I?"
Eli-"Oh My GOD! Sam are you okay?"
Sam-"yeah I am who are they?'
Chris-". . . we saved you."
Sam-"thank you soooo much"*tears start to form*
Chris-"yeah sure"
We took our gear and put it in the trucks while we loaded our guns and got in. As I looked around there were zombies walking toward us, were they following us? Well we soon left and went on the freeway, we traveled around 50 miles before a road block stopped us. Looking around there were military vehicles everywhere, but no one stationed in them, I then saw a truck blocking a passage way that we could go through. Picking up the radio I told Fred about it and we agreed that both of us needed to move it. I told Eli, who was in the truck, too cover me and if something happened be ready to leave. I hoped nothing would though, I hopped out of the truck and made sure the safety was on, I began to creep forward and knelt at a concrete road block, I scanned the area, dust, dust was on everything, it was probably abandoned. I stood up and signaled Fred to help me, we then approached the truck cautiously, I unlocked the door, but something grabbed me, I yelled and quickly took my hand away, Fred opened the door and shot wildly in the truck, a zombie slumped out. Soon everything became alive, zombies started to get out of the back of cars still having helmets and body armor on, I quickly scanned the truck and got in with Fred, we tried to turn on the engine, comon comon comon WORK! But it still was stuttering, I heard gun shots behind us, later I found out it was Eli and Sam. I turned it a last time and the engine roared, punching the accelerator I smashed through a small cart and drove it out of the way, however the glass that separated the driver's seat and the back suddenly shattered, as arms reached out. I hurriedly opened the door and jumped out, Fred did the same, that was the greatest mistake of my life. I jumped out of the frying pan and into the fire as 20 zombies surrounded me I took my sig saur and began to shook at their faces, I kept on shooting with no availed. Then a loud chattering noise sounded to my right, I saw a man shooting a machine gun at the zombies I ducked under the truck and waited until the noise was over. When chattering was over I peeked out and the zombies were decimated, the guy jumped off the roof of the Humvee and Fred joined me standing there. I heard "Hello mates!."

Day 4 part 2

I looked as amazement as he walked to word us then I noticed a zombie running at him, I picked up my rifle turned off the safety and shot. I saw the zombie twist over and die. The man smiling walked closer and said, "Were you aiming at me?" We all laughed, and Eli and Sam drove the trucks up to us. I asked the man, "what’s your name (quickly looking at his badge I said) Sergeant?" the man answered "Just call me Dick." I heard Fred silently laughing, I replied "well thank you for your help with these things." No problem, and your name is?" I pushed my hand out and said "Chris nice to meet you, this is Fred to the left, Eli and Sam in the trucks." Dick replied " well nice to meet you, I have some supplies in the Humvee, unfortunately the Humvee is busted. We walked over to the Humvee telling Eli and Sam to stay were they where.

Chris-"So Dick why are you here"
Dick-" well I was stationed to keep the virus from spreading, unfortunate you can see what happened,"
Fred-"how did you survive?"
Dick-"I fought for my life, those things can run like hell, I got into this Humvee and got to the roof and started shooting, my expertise are small arms and hand to hand."
Chris-"must have been hard, how long have you been here?"
Dick-"not very long a week or so, been living off of MRE's"
Fred-"sounds nice, any plans?"
Dick-"well I was going to go to the army recruitment center up in the town, around 30 miles up a bit"
Chris-"well we were planning to go to town, get equipment and supplies and head for the coast."
Dick-"sounds nice, how about I join you guys I got nothing to do."
Chris-"well sure because it can be dangerous we all most died getting here."
Dick-grunts"sounds about right"

When we got to the Humvee he showed us the equipment he gathered 2 military grade bullet proof vest (one which he was wearing), 2 MRE, 1M16 with red dot scope and a handle attachment, 3 grenades, 2 helmet, 1 hand gun, 2 heavy duty backpacks, 1 binocular, 1 .50cal M2 machine gun mounted on the Humvee, goggles, 2 pairs of gloves, 1 bayonet, 12 clips of M16 fully loaded, 3 side arm clips, an extra belt for ammo. I said, "lets get this stuff to the back of the truck" we hauled everything including some plates of carbon fiber bullet proof plates. We stayed there for an hour attaching the machine gun to the top of the second car, it was a rough fit but it did the job. We started up again and Dick fell fast asleep as we drove to town. In about an hour we arrived at the outskirts of town, where we saw the zombies were literally everywhere, in buildings, offices, dinners. We then checked how much food, and gas we had, the food would last around 4 to 5 days and gas around 3. We had to drive 150 miles until our next town, I called Fred up on the radio saying, "should we go and get supplies? or try and make it to the next town?" Fred replied, "we don't know what faces us next, I think we should get what we can. I thought it over and said, "well we can risk it but only if we can do it quietly." Dick picked it up and said, "well we could make a distraction and then drive in with the second truck to pick up what we could, by the way nice job making a hatch on the roof." I replied "that might work," Dick interrupted and said "well I know there's a super marked and I see there isn't that may zombies in it." I replied, "that's where we are going first, then the gas station." Dick said "what about the army recruitment area." I replied, "we'll see." Soon Dick opened up on the machine gun in a couple bursts and zombies came running and wandering out of buildings. We started using our rifles and began to shoot, I snuck out with Fred and made our way around the town. I started to run with Fred and ducked under a wall to catch my breath, "so Fred left or right" Fred replied joking " right!" We began sprinting as fast as we could to the building next to the super market when we heard a screaming behind us, shit. 2 zombies hot on our trail began to catch up on us, we just ran as fast as we could, I told Fred to go on and I would try to kill them. He screamed "NO! I AM NOT LEAVING YOU!" so we both dropped to our knees and began firing. We opened up one zombie twisted and fell to the ground, the other was five feet away when I shot him in the head. We gasped for breath but there was no time to relax. The building's window shattered and zombies trying to reach us fell on their heads and we ran. panting we opened the super market's door and slammed it shut, locking it. I looked around and saw 5 zombies limping to word us. I aimed at the zombies and shot them all. I noticed there was a barricade in the back room, I rushed to it. I knocked on the door, then I told Fred to cover me and I kicked down the door, there was a woman with a child there. She gasped "are you survivors." I nodded and said "what’s your name" She replied "Jessica and this is Sara" I replied "I hate to tell you thing be we got to go we including you guys", Fred grabbed a near by shopping cart and started to fill it was snacks and canned food as I followed him with my rifle ready, when we finished I asked if there was another exit, the Jessica replied "yeah the back door over there" and pointed to a discreet door way. We rushed to it and opened the door and Fred pushed the cart out and spied a golf cart. He told me about it and I asked Jessica "is there a key to it" she thought for a second, let me go get it for you. we ran in to the cash register and reached inside I screamed "DON'T DO THAT" and then she screamed, and a zombie bit her, I shot the zombie and pulled her aside. I collapsed to my knees and stuttered "Jessica, I am sorry I should have told you about it" she said, "there was nothing you could do about it don't worry, get back to your friends but please take care of that child, my only wish is that I don't her to see me as one of these please please," she gasped for breath as the window shattered and arms appeared," I handed her my gun, and tears began welling up and I while I was saying "I am sorry please forgive me" She replied "there is nothing to forgive I am ready and thank you no go!" I took the keys in her hands and ran as fast as I could, I heard several shots being fired and I counted 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11, a pause then12 and then there was silence, I wanted to go back but I knew nothing was there for me to go back too. I rushed outside to Fred who asked "what happened" I shook my head and he understood, I wiped my tears and told the girl your friend wanted to stay behind in case some else came, she nodded and it almost broke my heart." We jumped into the golf cart after putting everything we could in the back and sped off, next was the gas station, I we got there, filled the golf cart up and filled as many gallons of gas we could into a gas container, I looked around and saw a gas barrel, I checked it and it filled to the brim. I call them over, we tried to put it on the golf cart but there wasn't enough space for 3 people to sit in. I volunteered to stay behind and make my way by foot. Fred handed over his Beretta and extra ammo and we said goodbyes, then he sped off. I started to walk and the town was silent. I soon walked by the recruitment office and I paused, something wasn't right, I looked around and saw that it was barricaded. I walked over to the door and knocked and yelled "HELLO ANYONE THERE" I was such and idiot. zombies began to wander out of buildings all around me, however a voice on the other side said "are you bitten" I answered "no" and then wrenched open the door pulling me in. Then I looked around there were 3 guys in uniform and 2 girls, they were armed with M16s and sig saurs. I said, "hey" and smiled, they started to question me, what I was doing there, is any help coming, how many people do you have and so on I replied to all of them. They looked at each other and smiled one man stepped up and said "Welcome this is our humble above, you see we can help you out but of course we want to come with you, after all you made it so far." I asked "what’s your name?" he replied "Corporal Holmes sir, this is Jim and Chuck, and they are Ann and Olga." I replied "nice to meet you, so what are you packing?" Holmes replied "M16s a small ammo case of that, sig saurs, 25 extra clips, 5 grenades, 1 shotgun, a box of shotgun ammo, and one plexiglass shield." I said "wow that's a lot what’s your experience with the zombies" Ann replied "we ran from our house to here and had to hold off a couple hundred, but this is a big town and not all of them came." I nodded and she sneered at me. I said "what mode of transportation do you have?" they looked at each other and a Holes said "a commando assault vehicle." I thought for a moment and said "what’s wrong though" He replied, "the battery is dead." I thought again and asked if they had a radio, Jim's face lit up and said, here its in the corner" I walked over and tuned into the setting our radio frequency was on I said "FRED ELI SAM DICK PICK UP" I heard some crackling and then Fred picked up and saying "GOD! WHERE ARE YOU! OVER" I said "Dick you were right, the army recruitment area has some survivors I turned around and said do you know Corporal Holmes Over" and he said "yeah I know him over," I replied "they have a comando armored vehicle but it has a dead battery, what should be do over" Dick replied "he didn't tell you about the spare? over" I looked at Holmes and said "no he didn't, well ill get to you guys tomorrow its almost dusk over" He said "yeah sure thing we will be sleeping in the trucks g'night over and out" I turned off my radio set and I asked "Holmes why didn't you tell me about the extra battery?" He replied "its in the barricaded part of the office because there are hundreds of zombies and that's where we lost half our group trying to get it. I nodded and said "well we will have to try again, first lets get some rest" We walked up a ladder and to some barracks and pulled the ladder up, we choose bunks and I personally collapsed in one.

DAY 5

I woke up to the smell of coffee and toast at first I thought that I was at my ma's house when I was small but realized I was in this dam nightmare again. Getting up I saw Chuck cooking on a camp stove and he looked at me, he slid a plate of toast at me and I caught it and said "thanks." He just nodded and went back to cooking I got up ate the bread and thought that how long had it been since I ate something hot. When I finished I put the plate on my bunk and strapped on my tactical vest, I looked at how much ammo I had left, I counted 5 extra Beretta clips and 10 clips of .30cal ammo. Then, checking the M1 carbine, I started to clean it and made sure I reloaded it. II asked Chuck where Holmes was and he pointed at a door, quickly I strapped on my belt and slung my M1 carbine over my shoulder. Knocking I said, "Holmes, you there?" He replied, "yeah come in." I opened the door handle and Holmes said, "we have to get out of here, there are hundreds of zombies out there, I took a peek out of the window, and I thought the same thing. I replied, "do you wanna go get that battery now?" Holmes replied, "How." "well we could use that shield and have a three man team go and get the battery in a triangular fashion so we can limit casualties." Holmes replied "already tried that and most of the zombies in there have body armor." I replied "well it's either die here or try to escape by getting the battery." Holmes replied "there is no solution to this but living would sound nice, okay we will do what you referred to." I replied "I am willing to go because I know that you don't want to lose anyone else." Holmes replied "fine I will give you Chuck and Olga, they are very good at hand to hand combat" I replied "thanks." Holmes then Chuck and Olga to get into their gear because they were going to get the battery with them. They went to their bunks and began to strap on vests and ammo cartridges. then they put down the ladder. Getting down to the main floor we saw zombies pounding away at the wall and barricades. We rushed over to the door that separated the batteries and us. Wrenching it open we used the shield to cover us. we looked around. There were 20 to 30 of them the first room alone, most were wearing helmets and body armor. We aimed and fired, several were head shots but many just hit the body armor. Then the zombies turned and looked at us, realizing we were shooting at them and started to scream and run. It was hard to keep a steady aim as zombie after zombie came within 5 feet of our shield and it seemed to never end. Then I spotted it, like an angle from heaven it looked beautiful I told the others to cover me, I dashed at the battery and slid under the table. Grabbing the battery I realized it was dam heavy and I winced as a shot flew next by my face, I looked back slowly and saw a zombie about to bite my neck. Taking the battery I ran as fast as a could to the door then past Chuck and Olga. I yelled "COMON WE GOTA GO NOW!" and they grabbed the shield and followed. We shot randomly at the figures behind us and the barricade next to us shattered and zombies started to pour in. We climbed up the ladder and Chuck was almost there as he cried in agony, we all realized what happened Chuck said, "LEAVE DON'T LOOK BACK IM TAKING AS MANY BASTARDS AS I CAN." We ran to the window and jumped onto the comando. Olga started to change the battery. As she was changing the battery we were shooting at any zombie coming close to us. I heard a boom and the building shook. Olga raced into a the Comando and Holmes started the vehicle. Zombies began to jump out of the window and onto the Comando. Most missed but a couple landed. Ann opened the hatch and began to fire. We sped away as the zombies ran after us. I picked up a radio and tuned in, "DICK, FRED PICK UP DAMMIT." there was static and then I heard Fred "Are you guys all right over?" I looked around and everyone nodded and I said "yeah we're all right we'll meet you on the highway over." Fred replied "yeah lets do that over and out." I put the receiver back on the radio. I looked at Holmes and then at everyone else. Ann looked at me in a sorrowful way and climbed up to the roof with Jim. The hatch closed and I closed my eyes and sat down.Day 5 Part 2
I fell asleep, I was dreaming about when I was small and all the great times I had. Half asleep I felt someone slap me, it was Ann she said, "how long do you want us to wait for you Chris." I looked up and saw everyone outside. I said, "sorry." I walked outside and sat down, I noticed that we had set up a triangle like structure around us using the vehicles. I said, "Hello" and smiled, and then someone else slapped me, it was Eli. I said, "WHY IS EVERYONE SLAPPING ME TODAY." and then I saw she was in tears. I said sorry, but she just ran into a truck. I looked at everyone else and they just stared at me. Then Fred spoke up, "Chris we think you should be leader", I was still sleepy so I thought I had heard wrong. I replied, "Wait what?" Fred repeated himself, "We thing you should be leader. " I looked around and everyone looked at me and nodded. I replied, "Why?" Holmes spoke up. "you got everyone together you risk your life fore everyone and you have a plan, why else?" I said, "We are just surviving right?" Olga smiled and said, "yeah that is why you busted us out right? you could have snuck out yourself, we were half expecting that." I sighed and sat down, Sam asked, "what do we do now?" I replied, "follow the plan, how much gas do we have and for how long?" Ann replied, "enough for a week or so, we have 3 barrels of fuel on the Comando, 1 barrel on the truck, 100 gallons in containers, and we didn't use up too much fuel getting here, so around a weeks worth." I asked "how many MPG does the Comando have." Dick spoke up and said "Well mate I believe its around 10 to 15 miles per gallon on average." I replied, "thanks, what weapons do we have?" Fred said, "1 ammo crate of M16 rounds 50 boxes left of the AR15s, 14 boxes of .45 cal. 30 boxes of .30cal, 15 strips of nail gun ammo, 14 flares, 10 knives, a couple crowbars, 5 M16s, 8 grenades, 6 Kevlar military grade armor, and 6 helmets." he paused and added, "I think that's it." I said, how about the girl we picked up you know the one that is 6 or something?" Fred replied, "OH Yeah her we got her to the truck and she is sleeping right now." I then thought for a while and said "lets get our gear on and refill out vehicles with what we have." There was a bustling of ammo and guns being cleaned. I personally took some ammo and refilled my empty ammo cartridges. I spread what I had out on a blanket. Dick was smoking a cigarette on the comando and said, "You guys better hurry up, around 3 miles away are some zombies wandering to word us." I looked at what I had, 15 clips of .30cal ammo, 1 red dot scope I grabbed from the weapons stash, 1 Sig suar that I also took, 5 extra clips of .45 cal ammo (the Beretta I gave back to Fred), 1 grenade, a tactical vest, an ammo belt, 2 flares, 1 side pack, 2 cans of food, 15 feet of rope, and an expandable ASB batton. I put the canned food, and the rope in the side bag which I put on the truck. I stood up and said, "lock and load." everyone scrambled to put their equipment together, I did the same. I put the blanket in the truck and we started the engine. The formation was of my truck on front, the comando, and the truck with the heavy machine gun in back. I noticed that the trucks were different and I realized that sheet metal had been added to protect us. We drove at a steady pace talking on the radios as we went. In my car I was with Eli, who still wouldn't talk to me, and Dick. The Comando carried Holmes, Jim, Ann and Olga, and in the last truck, Fred and Sam. I peered ahead to look at what would come up, and seeing it was 3:00 in the afternoon we would have to stop somewhere. After a few hours of driving we reached an abandon pit stop. We looked around in Dick's binoculars and saw that there were no zombies around, however it was next to a forest, which was not the ideal location to be. We parked next to the bathroom and I climbed on top of the truck, using the hatch. I got on the roof and saw it was clear. I told Dick to come and set up a tent and we drew straws to see who did what. I went over to the Comando and asked, "Do you guys want to stay in the Comando or get up here?" Holmes said, "I think ill stay, how about you guys?" Ann replied,"ill sleep on the roof" and Jim just grunted and went back inside." I asked Fred and Sam what they wanted to do, They replied that they would stay on the roof too. I climbed down and looked at the gas station, then the trucks then Fred, he got the message. He filled the trucks and the Camando with as much gas as he could and then took the empty containers, he spoke to me and said, "Guess what I have, I looked at his truck and he pulled back the tarp, it was a modified golf cart, I looked at him and then at the golf cart and smiled.

The Evil Gas Station
Getting in the golf cart I saw what he had modified the body so it was sleeker and had more protection from the undead. The sides were all closed off and there were gun ports on the passenger side. I looked over to Fred and said, "Your one mad genius man!" He relied, "Hey we had the scrap and equipment and besides it makes it easier on all of us." He added, "I also fixed up the engine so there are more horsepower to push this thing." Fred started up the engine and it roared into action we jerked off of the truck and slammed into the pavement, I winched and looked at Fred, he gave me the thumbs up and continued to the gas station. I told him to stay in the cart as I looked at the perimeter, Fred replied, "You don't need to get out you know," he popped open a hatch on the roof."just use this." I looked out of the hatch and saw the coast was clear I learned to be more vigilant lately and I readied my M1 carbine. Closing the hatch I told Fred again to wait for me he nodded and took out a hand gun and opened the hatch to cover me. I got out and I heard a click as Fred locked the doors I nodded and took the gas tanks. I ran as quickly as I could over to the gas pumps and saw that the electricity was still running, I quickly shoved my credit card into the slot and put a tank and started to fill each one. I was in the middle of filling when I heard a gun shot, my eyes darted to Fred and he pointed into the forest. Shit, zombies were crawling out of the forest and into the opening before the bathrooms and I heard more gun shots on the roof of the bathroom. Suddenly the door to the gas station burst open and a man with a shot gun said, "HELL RAINS UPON YE." He was a stout fellow and quickly he looked at me, I grabbed what I could and ran to the golf cart, I heard shot hitting the concrete ground around me I dived behind the golf cart and Fred opened fire. He got in the cart and opened the lock, I started to jam in tanks of fuel when something behind me grabbed my shoulders, I twisted around and right in my face was a zombie. I yelled and kicked it in the chest, unfortunately my foot was stuck in the chest, next I grabbed my Sig saur and opened up, he slumped to the ground, I took my foot out of his chest to realize there were more coming. Fred yelled, "THAT CRAZY MAN KEEPS ON WALKING TOWARD US SHOOTING WE GOT TO GO!." I yelled back, "DIDN’T YOU ALREADY SHOOT HIM?" He replied, "YEAH LIKE 3 TIMES ALREADY." I quickly shoved in the rest of the of the gas tanks and got in the cart slamming the door and locking it. Fred quickly got back in and I took over with my gun, out of the hatch I could clearly see our escape routes were all blocked, we were trapped. I began to shoot and hollered, "FRED DRIVE!" He replied, "WHERE!" I thought quickly and replied "TO THE GOT DAM GAS STATION!." We sped off leaving a group of zombies behind. The crazy man started to rush toward our golf cart sayin, "YE DEMONS YE DEMONS MY GOD SMITE YE!" We tried to avoid him but he his the side of the car and fell over. We quickly ran our golf cart into the side of the gas station, busting threw the horrible barricade we found ourselves in horrified amazement as we looked out of the window. There were bodies hung up on the ceiling as many as 40 were strung up and hung by their necks. The ropes swung with the wind. I started to realize that some of the bodies were moving. Then I saw one of the ropes snap and the body fell to the ground. It got up and I realized that it was a zombie, he thrashed about and knocked over a cabinet which fell on a lever, shit. The ropes broke and zombies fell down everywhere I screamed, "FRED BACK UP BACK UP!!" He quickly backed out of the hole but ran into a zombie. I thought we were doomed as the zombies started to surround us, but something miraculous happened. We heard something like thunder and soon a pile of zombies flew in the air, we quickly seized the chance and went through the opening, I opened the hatch and started to fire rapidly, I looked up and there was an A-10 Warthog that just flew and dropped something with a red flag on it, I quickly pointed it out to Fred, we were relieved to be alive. Quickly we drove to retrieve the package and I grabbed it, shut the door and we drove to the trucks. The rest of our team quickly saw us and we drove up into the flat bed of one truck. With the trucks engines roaring we got out of there as fast as we could within seconds the area around us blew up into flames On the road we made a quick stop, I got out and looked at Fred who also looked at me, I got into my truck without saying a word and dozed off as we traveled further to the next town.

DAY 6

As I awoke I saw that we had stopped in the highway in the triangular formation again. I got up and rubbed my eyes then I walked to the edge of the road and had a bathroom break. As I walked back Ann stood up and said, "Morrin want some chicken soup?" I replied, "that would be lovely" and smiled. I felt a tug on my pants, it was the little girl she asked, "who are you?" I replied, "I am Chris who are you?" she replied." Emily sir, can I er, stay with you " I replied, "sure sure, just don’t make too much of a fuss." She beamed and held onto my pants, I quickly remembered the package and I rustled through my vest and found it. It was very small but weighed a lot. I tore open the plastic wrap and saw, it was a map with a number and some MREs. I quickly opened the map and saw there was a X on the map and the numbers were for radio wave frequency and cellular phones. I quickly yelled at Dick, who was on the Commando again . . . smoking, "HEY DICK!" He replied "YEAH CHRIS." I said, "CAN YOU TUNE INTO THIS RADIO TRANSITION?" he replied "YEAH OKAY WHAT’S THE NUMBER?" I threw the map at him and he caught it. I quickly ate my stew and gave the canteen back to Ann saying "thanks" and I quickly check my equipment, Eli came out of the truck and didn’t notice I was right underneath her and kicked me in the head. I looked up and said, "Oww do we always have to go through this." she replied, "well your head was in the way." and she got some stew. I looked at Emily and she was staring at me and the equipment. I quickly asked Holmes, "Hey do we have any left over glocks or sig saurs?" He replied, "yeah let me go get them," I yelled "thanks!" and he went to the comando. I said to Emily, "Emily, do you want to protect yourself from the bad men who try to attack you?" she replied, "yes I do b b but wouldn’t it hurt them." I replied, "no it won’t hurt them." Holmes came out of the comando and gave me a glock a couple of extra magazines and a belt holster. I turned to Emily, "Emily here I’ll show you how to use this and remember this is not a toy it is a weapon." She nodded and I taught her how to use the sight and let her shoot a few rounds to geta sense of how to use it. I then put the belt on her waist and put the gun in the holster. I said "remember only use it if it is an emergency." she replied by nodding her head. I told everyone, "We leave for the next town in 10 minutes." I helped Emily into the second truck and packed up some supplies and put it in mine. We drove off and reached the next town in around two hours and a half. The town seemed was completely empty with not a zombie in sight. I climbed out and said, "Fred, Holmes, Dick your with me the rest of you guys stay with the vehicles and if something happens I’ll shoot a flare," I quickly told Fred , "get the golf cart and cover us." he ran to the back of the second truck and drove the golf cart in front of us Holmes and Dick both whistled. I told them, "get in:" and I smiled. The door unlocked and they got in the back, I got in too." we drove off and I opened the hatch and looked around. Suddenly there was gunfire. I quickly turned around and saw some muzzle flashes I quickly ducked and replaced the hatch. I told Fred to turn around and drive toward the building, out of my gun port I began to fire at the muzzle flashes and I saw a barricade made of rubble that was a makeshift wall. One of the gun shots hit the golf cart and luckily Fred armored it because the bullet made an dent in the wall. We quickly stopped at an angle and I got out with Dick. We readied ourselves for the worst, then there was a hollering in front of us. "YOU DAM RAIDERS! TAKING EVERYTHING WE HAVE GET GONE." I replied, "MABY WE CAN HELP YOU OR WE CAN BARTER" the voice replied, "WE CAN DO THAT BUT WE WANT NO GUNS." I quickly thought for a second and hid a Walther P-226 in my sleeve with a bayonet. I said "FINE BUT WE DO IT IN THE OPEN." the voice replied, "FINE." I quickly pulled the zipper to my vest and put it with my gun in the cart. I stepped out with my hands up. An old man walked out with his hands up we met in the middle. I said nice to finally meet you, I shook his hand at the wrist he chuckled and did the same. I then said, "What do you have to offer and what do you need." he replied "we need some food but we have a lot of scrap metal and gas." I thought about what we had and responded, "here’s a fine deal for you 50 cans of food for 10 sheets of metal that we get to choose and 100 gallons of gas." he replied, "no that won’t do it’s a rip off," he then said, "50 cans of food for 15 sheets of metal, and 60 gallons of gas." I replied, "well good sir that was not a good idea we can get our supplies else were." I started to walk away and he said, "okay okay okay how about 50 cans of food for 12 sheet metals and 120 gallons of gas." I replied "that’s more like it." I quickly said, "we’ll be right back. I walked back to the cart and we drove to the trucks I explained to the rest of the team,
