TheSecondShooter's Survival Plan - Zombie Survival & Defense Wiki

My survival plan is based around several assumptions. One of them being that due to my
location i should have at least one to two days head start on any zombie activity in my area.
I would assume that an outbreak would probably start in a major city or military base, and
therefore take some time to spread to outlying rural areas. My plan is to survive the initial
panic and to be dug in my BOL long before any zombies reach my area.

Day one: The key to my plan working is to be ready before hand so I can move into action as soon as infection is confirmed. My home will work well for short term bugging in but not suited for long term survival.I plan to head straight for my BOL as soon as the panic runs it's course. My BOL is about 1.5 hours away by dirt bike. By BOB would consist of a standard home first aid kit and all the meds I have in my medicine cabinet. 2 pair of jeans, socks, undies, undershirts, 4 or 5 t-shirts, 2 warm flannel long sleeve shirts, leather gloves, heavy jacket and a change of shoes. i would also have my Colman LED flashlight, a 6 pack of AA batteries, and my Buck skinner knife. My wife would have a similar bag as would my children. A second bag with what ever dry and canned goods we already have in the house, and a brown paper bag of assorted vegetable seeds.

Weapons: Two Mossberg500 pump action shotgun's with about 200+ 00Buck shot and another 20 or so slugs, One Remington 700 30.06 with a Leupold Rifleman 3-9x50mm scope with about 100 rounds, Two heavy brush Machete's, and a wood splitting axe.I have also just ordered a new AK-47 and six 30 round mags to go with is. I'm hoping to get between five to ten thousand round of 7.62x39 ammo by the end of the year. I am extremely proficient with all my guns and have been an active hunter since i was a very young boy.

Transportation: One Kawasaki KLX 450R off road dirt bike and Two Honda 400 Foreman 4x4 4 wheel ATV.
I choose to take the ATVs over my truck because i am worried that highways and other major road
would become gridlock with panicked people and with accidents, running out of gas, and carjackers
to worry about i felt that the ATVs would not only be faster but a lot safer on the wooded trails than
the roads.i have traveled the trails between my house and my BOL about 5 times over the last few
years and feel very comfortable traveling them even at night. I plan on taking both the dirt bike and both
ATVs, and my path to my BOL is mostly through wooded trails. I have driven these trails before and it took
about 1.5 hours and that was not hauling ass, i could cut that time in half if really pressed. I have 4 children,
the older two are 15 and 14, the younger are 8 and 7. With one of the smaller kids behind me on the bike, and another behind my wife, the 15 and 14 year old can easily ride the 3rd ATV as they have grown up riding. The ATVs have both front, and rear cargo racks, and can carry extremely large amounts of cargo.

MY BOL: Lake Ouachita Arkansas's Largest Lake.Upon arriving at the Lake I will be relying on
my second assumption. That is on Z day going to work is NOT going to be a priority to most
people. so wile most people are getting themselves killed at there local Wal-Mart I will be
procuring myself a 84 foot houseboat from one of the four rental places at the lake.TheSecondShooter's Survival Plan - Zombie Survival & Defense Wiki I should have no
problem loading the ATVs on board and heading out on the lake.for the most part that is day one. Now i have played around with the idea or destroying the other rental boats to help eliminate competition on the lake, but I'm not sure about this yet and it would probably depend on how smooth the plan is going at that point. The only thing left to do is head to the marina and pilfer somefuel, fishing gear, and as much rope as i can find as i will need it for day two.

Day Two:
Lake Ouachitais one of the cleanest clearest lakes in the country, and is surrounded
by a national park that is overflowing with wild game. The lake also has a handful of islands
ranging in size from about 1acer to more than 10acers. Another key part of my plan is the 100
or so floating piers that are ankered all around the lake at the many beaches and swimming locations. TheSecondShooter's Survival Plan - Zombie Survival & Defense WikiThe piers are about 10 feet by 10 feet square and can easily be cut loose from there ankers and towed anywhere on the lake. I plan to first find a smaller boat to move around the lake in then gather about 15 to 20 of these floating piers and lash them together to form a floating island, and dock the house boat to it. Once this is done i should not have to fear anything but pirates, and with being out on the lake i can see what is coming from every direction and am only accessible by ether boat or helicopter. With any advanced warning i could easily dispatch a threat with my rifle. Once i have finished making the floating island i will anker it close to one of the bigger islands.

Day Three and Beyond:
On one of the nearby islands i plan to plant a vegetable garden when the
time for planting is right. In the early mornings when the deer come to drink from the lake it
will be an easy shot. I shouldn't even have to step foot on the main land. I will eventually have
to scout out some of the homes near the water for more supplies, but most of these homes are
vacation homes and time shares so finding abandoned homes and supplies should not be terribly
hard and between the fishing, hunting, and the garden in time food will not be a problem. and i will be
floating on some of the purest water in the country. To be honest this almost sounds like a vacation to
me i could live outdoors the rest of my life and be happy.with conserving my ammo for hunting and
protection from human threats and not having to worry about zombies i believe my family and I could
survive for years like this baring and unforeseen illness.
