TheyWontGetMe's Survival PlanThis is a featured page

Me? Im going to survive. I dont care how many loved ones I have to put down, once your bit your gone from my world. Heres my plan for my main house that I am at now. I have one for every house I have lived at or spend most of the time at including work. They aint going to get me no matter what they try.
At home I have my own group of friends also paranoid about the imminent zombie attack. We organise before they rise. Communcation is essential. If one person hears about it, theres no jokes and its on. There are 9 of us.
Heres how I protect my home ( with the accpection that all my close friends and flat mates are able to get to me )
Rip off all the wardrobe, cuboard and spare doors from bathrooms and spare rooms and board your windows till my house is almost completly blacked out. Raid every available militia weapon I can scrounge up, I have made a few weapons ranging from a mace made of nails, rope and a metal bar. Push my car ( station wagon ) to the end of the drive way with its rear end facing the house and main gate, shut the ******* gate and lock that thing nothing is opening that gate, the car jams up my driveway if its parked in the middle and is a tight squeeze between 2 larger fences on either side. SAFETY FIRST. If I have a chance jack off the front tyres, theres a reason for this later. From there we bunker down inside my home, all friends are welcome if they are uninjured but if they are followed they will be turned back. The only way into my property will be over the car. If the front tyres are gone the nose should be dipping down and would be a ramp for anyone running to jump over the main gate... if they can jump that far. ( a meter or so )
There are no large windows in my house and no glass doors, I have checked and re checked it and every thing should be blockable including bedroom windows, toilet windows and main doors with the doors ripped off the cuboards and wardrobes. I have a million and 1 nails ready and 2 hammers, but could improvise more for more workers ( Axe heads, wrenches even another board ) Once the 2 main defences of the windows being blocked up, and the drive way jammed we hoard every single item of food and bottles of water we can into the roof, its not an attic its a roof. I take a hack saw, 1 change of clothes and bag, I put spare weapons up there. If I see any neigbours fleeing I note it in my head. After 12 hours the house goes into lock down. Nothing in, Nothing on, Nothing out. No lights, no people and no ******* zombies. There is enough room up there for 12 people to comftarbly sit, and boards to rest on. We wait 24 hours with one person always awake.
After 24 hours, wrench up a board above the main room, poke a hole through the roof and look down, if their is anything at all down there we go up, we cut a slit in the roof and get on top. Assess our situation from there.
If there is nothing down there we get down in pairs, and leave half the supplies up there.
With the makeshift weapons, once the house is secure, another lockdown, 12 hours this time. No lights, no zombies, no noise. We have no pets or babies so their is no risk or unexpected noise. If anything enters the property at this time its either into one of bed rooms and sealing it shut ( Then carving a second hole into the roof ) or going directly to the roof shelter. After the lock down, we watch the outside of the house through small gaps in the barricaded windows, if everything looks untouched the back door will become unblocked, with spare supplies in case it needs to be blocked in a hurry. SAFETY FIRST.
If the outside is alright ( my property is surrounded my massive fences, because Im in the middle of 4 houses ) we set up the ladder to the roof and estabilish our lookout. It wouldnt be hard to make a makeshift shelter up there between the water tank and a sheet of wood with some tarapaulin. I have hunting radios with a range of 12km these will basically be our main communcation with anything outside of the indoor fort. 6 hour shifts contsantly watching. If the property is attacked and a lookout cant get down, on one side of the house you can lay down and not be seen. This is what he/she will do and they will wait. As long as it takes. If it takes to long they will have to cut a hole through the roof into the house covering the hole they made with the tarpaulin upon entry. The ladder gets taken down every shift. SAFETY FIRST.
After 2 days ( from the lock downs ) I note which neighbours fled, because there are 4 of them I have a high chance of supplies. We raid the house with a lookout outside with the radios, any danger at all even a straggling survivor we are out of that house with what ever we can carry. Take all perishable food ( food not in tins or pasta/rice etc etc ) first as this will waste faster so should be consumed first, go back for the tins after the peishable food is stored away. Store spare canned food in the roof. Always take any item that looks valuble like radios, battries, candles. I have a portable gas cooker but will always be looking for gas cans. The dam things run out before you know it. I will take any water bottles or any item that can hold water. A trick to stop water stagnating is put a tiny drop of bleach in it. This will stop any and all bacteria and stagnation. We hold out as long as supplies will last, we dont move, we kill anything that is alone. At night we go into lock down. The scout comes off the roof and everything goes silent. If supplies begin to run low, half n hours walk away is a gas station and just before that is a local dairy. We raid those if and when we can at day time in groups of 3. I dont know how long zombies can hold out for but I know the human body will just rot and wither through summer here. 6 months is how long I will need to survive, 2 weeks supplies maybe from each of the 4 houses around me, 2 weeks from my own ( rationing food ) the others will have brought food and supplies. We have maybe 3 months to survive by raiding. There are alot of house around me and alot of supplies will be inside them. An hours walk away is a large store, and 2 supermarkets. Massive amounts of supplies will be able to begatheredfrom them. Down the road from me a local friend has a ute which we utilze to our advantage when supplies become scarce. We hold out in this one house. Making our stand here. Where else do we run? What do we hide behind?
Rotate scout shifts and raiding parties. Any and all straggles found will have to provide their own keep for a week before being fully allowed to stay. If they refuse to leave. Kill them. We will survive. My friends and I all know what to do when the zombies come. We have an agrement as well. If there is no where to run or we all agree to fight. We fight. We kill as many as we can. We take down those trying to destroy humanity. We survive how ever we can. Nothing will stop humanity. Nothing will conquer us. Nothing will take our place as the dominant species.

You should openly welcome surviivors. Make them pay up with food, guns, ammo, wtc.

i think that its a very good plan, but just boarding up windows and hiding in you roof wont stop them. they arent very smart so if you do stay quiet and motionless alot of the time you should go undetected by most of them. but its also noted that if they do sense your presence they will come at you. its been proven that as few as 3 infected can tear down a simple barricade that would physically exhaust a human in less than 24 hours. Combat is also a very noisy thing which could potentially attract more, and once they are dead if you leave them sitting in the house it will possess a health hazard thanks to the decaying flesh. Other than combat strategy i think that this is a very well thought out plan. Happy Zombie Hunting (:

This is very reliable, well thought out and from what you have, easily executed plan. One thing I thought though, is human scent, which zombies will be searching for. You can stop making noise. You can blackout your windows. Hell, you can put some meat as a decoy somewhere else. But how are you going to stop them smelling you?
