you can easily construct a spear pit by digging out a whole in the ground with a minimum of 5 ft. wide 5 ft. long and 15 ft. deep althoughvyou can expand the dimensions to your liking next sharpen around two dozen poles into punji sticks such as used in vietnam t them to the pit after you get out of the pit hang an animal in a cage over the pit ( never use goats because they are to valuable) and go back to your fort. the zombies will smell the animal and immediatly begin to swarm towards it fall into the pit and either be stuck to the spears ir impaled through the head and die
P.S. this isnt for those who are against cruelty to animals

Alright, I'm a big outdoors guy, and one of the most fun things I learned, was how to set up traps. Now, the use of traps has been outlawed in hunting for a long time......but not warfare. This one time I caught a guy on a fourwheeler...but that is a long story. What do you think of spike pits, malayan man-traps, lasso snares, and the like for the use of zombie destruction. Especially in a woodland environment. You could even throw some IED traps in there for kicks. They would have to be reset, but everything has it's drawbacks. What do you think?

straping a timed explosive to an RC car (or plane) could be used to send explosives around multiple corners. i call them tickers

i have a few ideas that put a little of twist on the traps above: 1)wire noose: dangle a wire from a tree and tie one end to itself in a way that when a zombie walks into it it wraps around its neck and as he pulls it tightens the wire it wont suffocate it but it will trap and if pulled on hard enough behead the zombie 2)head trap: basically a bear trap for the head if a zombies face pushes against it it mite be enough for to spring the trap and close on the zombie's head if the force of the closing trap isn't enough to destroy the brain or decapitate the head it will at least trap the zombie or force it to pull hard enough on the trap to pull its own head off the only problems i foresee with these traps is the fact that not all zombies are the same height so I'll try to find a way to fix that

if one lone zombie walks into the trap and sets it of is will fall down (assuming that you set the guns in the same height as the zombies head) and it will be lying on the string and the guns will keep on firing even though there's no target. The only way to solve this problem would be to either set up a laser instead of a thread, but if you don´t have electricity this is not an option. the other alternative would be to get a really strong string/wire and set it up in the same height as the chest (or a little bit higher) so that when shot the zombie will fall back and hopefully won't get caught in the wire.

I was reading, and I remembered, Thermite is a BITCH to light. You need a blowtorch and something similar to magnesium ribbon to get it started off. This is a good thing in that it makes it relatively safe to transport. (Notice I said relatively safe, not completely safe) And once it gets started though, it can burn through ANYTHING. Car hood, engine blocks, chassis, the pavement below a car... Isn't it amazing how a misspent youth can pay off?

It's best to put the wire on the ground so it will slow down the zombies to give you time.

saw this in a catalog and thought it was kind of cool. It can fire 12 ga. blanks, 12 ga. aerial flares, or with a little modification, .00 buckshot (think, scaled-way-down, poorman's claymore)
http://www.firequest.com/catalog/Hv005moreifno.html truthfully, this doesn't look too hard to make on one's own. Obviously, need to be careful, but still. Sorry if this one's been posted before.

Being able to trap repeatedly without attention to the trap would be a good thing. Leaves you more time to attend to other problems. One plan here

The lethal traps could pose a threat to you as well so never forget to map out any set traps. Now the thing with traps that i dont like is that they can harm people or things you never intentionally wanted to harm. What if a lone person stumbles into your pungi pit? Or a docile dog in a bear trap? The chain link, can trap, and old tires are very good idea's for defence. Its best if you stay non-lethal when setting up traps just for your own safety, humans make mistakes and if your careless you could die. Dont use the AGT, it wastes precious ammo.

since my last post on this got deleted I guess I have to be careful about how I state my opinion. Which if memory serves, we are supposed to respect each others opinions on this forum. But no matter, the Admins have the power to delete posts as they see fit, and if I offended anyone I am sorry. I did not mean to.
My personal philosophy on Zed hunting is Stealth and Simplicity. While a few of these ideas like the tires, the chain, and the pitfalls are excellent, and easy to do, some of them have me confused. Maybe it's just me, but explosives seem like they would be too loud and traps like the snare and the pig spear seem like too much effort. But hey if that's your thing, go for it. I'm not here to tell you you're wrong, or tell you how to do things, because, let's face it, I don't know a lot about Zombie hunting. None of us do. What we all do have (at least I hope) is common sense.

If a classical zombie got caught by a snare wouldn't they just go around and around in a circle till they were wound up around the anchor for the snare? In that case I could see one going around in circles and tripping the others around him.

Instead of using a commercial gun, that you might not be able to recover, use something like the Four Winds Shotgun rigged with spring to fire it. Single shot so you don't waste ammo on empty air and very effective single shot stopping power.

traps don't need to be hidden. Here's an example: Instead of hiding a pungi pit, take tose stakes and put them in the ground facing out. As the zees attack, they impale and stop themselves on the advance (if quality sticks). trip wire traps, pit traps and the like can be good, but pose a safety risk to your survivors (ie, guys blows hiself up on trip wire IED). Also, i would dig a trench that is just long enough to drop vehicles into (stop raiders). You know, besides the main stop trench.

I have an idea... you know how there are more then zombies out there? there is also other people. I propose that there be something along the lines of "the attack zombies".
The concept of this 'trap' is either a pit or a fenced off area filled with zombies. The zombies will be chained or roped to a central area by use of a 'leash.' That way, the zombies in question will eat anything that gets inside the pit or fence. now, this is technically not a trap, but is more of something to deter thieves and such... Meh, over-active imagination strikes again. tell me what you guys think about this? :P I know it would be dangerous to make, so... leave that part be.

I dont know why people say that barbed and razor wire are so good agaist zombies # 1 is that their both made tom make more pain than damage and zombies dont feel no pain #2 they both break at a certain point.
