Tell us:
Is your plan dependent on zombies in your home town, or anywhere?
My plan is actually dependent on where the infestations are greatest, overall outlook for my area, and on where the safest destinations are at the time. It is also dependent on world events and assesment of the situation, from the beginning to the moment I hit the road.

Will you be staying in your home or headed somewhere else?
I plan on moving rather quickly once the infestations have begun. This is done mainly out of my personal beliefs. I find that keeping on the move in any situation is better for my style of survival. I feel defense poses too many risks, therfore migration is my tactic of choice. The idea of a fortified building also poses the "deathtrap" syndrome to me, as it can become your tomb just as quickly as your fortification. I run scenarios occasionally as I'm working or otherwise occupied, and time and time again I find that the road is best for my style. I eventually would have to settle, but only in the event of a high ratio of empty space to zombie population. My destination would be either in the Rockies or North toward Canada or Alaska. Above the snowline is the way many put it, but I think of it as a zone of natural boundaries and barriers.

If you're heading out, how do you plan to get there?
I would personally love to have a mode of transportation such as a motorcycle, car, boat, or even a bicycle. The last is my greatest preference, considering it is quiet, needs no fuel, and can be carried easily. In reality, with none of these available, I would be quite comfortable walking. I have a few routes in mind for either direction, North or East. The shortest and most likely to be easily followed is to the rockies. The least safe route, but a route in the event of total breakdown in the east, midwest, and rockies would lead me North by many Highly populated areas of the coast. This is why I'd prefer a boat if my destination becomes Canada or Alaska.

Got anyone you want to take with you?
I have two companions for sure, both briefed and ready to hoof it at the first notice from any of us. Mike and Richard have been my partners in crime for years, and we've spoken of this and natural crisis often. We are ready and waiting. I'd prefer to bring along two female companions as well, mainly because female presence relieves tension and comforts the male gender. This is not to say they actively do so, it is merely the presence. The only issue is their ability to carry their own weight of supplies, and their ability to defend themselves and others in a combat situation.

How will you communicate with the outside world, or do you plan to go the hermit route?
The plan is to keep tabs on the outside world, with use of handheld radio. Communicating on the move is very risky. Short range communication with walkie talkies is the best I can think of at this point. One can scan the channels and see what's going on in the immediate area. Otherwise, communication is limitted to what we can hear from a handheld. Since battery power would become an issue, a self powered radio would be best. These are also known as survival radios.

How are you planning to get food and water?
What little food and water we can carry on our backs, in addition to water purification units. Also, a knowledge of edible flora will be quite invaluable. Considering we are on the move, their will be opportunites to restock supplies in areas where zombie presence is minimal. This is a MAJOR risk, of course, and would only be attempted in the event of a lack of any sustanance. Hunting will be difficult, so plant life will likely be the most viable choice. Another major form will be protien and dietary bars. These are light and easily stored in packs. Other than the aforementioned, food will be our largest concern, along with exhaustion.

What's your weapon of choice? Do you need to reload that thing? Gotta plan for that?
My weapon of choice is my forethought. Total avoidance of zombies is the greatest thing I can do to protect myself and those around me. In the event of combat, I would chose a .22 caliber rifle or .38 carbine for extended range. Ammunition would be an issue, and only a small stock would be kept due to wieght. I likely would only use this weapon sparingly. I have a relatively light competition katana at my disposal if I wish to be flashy in combat. Otherwise, a small crowbar will have to serve as my weapon. This is easily attatched to the pack and is fairly light to carry. The katana would be a weapon I'd be better suited for open space as well, so my carrying it would only be fruitful in a scenario where escape is already a prefferable choice. I still would feel the desire to bring it, for morale if nothing else.

Got a survival philosophy?
Simple enough: Keep the group alive and safe, and avoid danger whenever possible. I feel that what is best for the group is what is best for myself, so anything done is for the betterment of the group. You watch your companions backs, and they will watch yours.

Are you willing to hook up with other survivors?
This is only in the event of a cutoff from escape. I will gladly hook up with another group of survivors if they have a fortified position and are willing to accept us. I will augment their defense until my group or theirs decides that it is time to move. I'd prefer to avoid other humans, as I would not trust their intentions. I'd much prefer to remain on the move with my small group. An alternate course may be to hook up with another mobile group. As long as the number of our consolidated forces do not surpass nine or ten, I feel it is safe to augment the defensability of the group. My only worry is power struggle in this case. One leader or two together is good, but if their is dissention, a struggle could make survival against zombies the least of my worries.

Is your plan based on a book/movie/blog/scientist we may have heard of?
I base most of this on survival handbooks I've picked up, along with "The Zombie Survival Guide". If the last was good for anything, it made me consider the possibilities. There are many other references I fall back on, such as discussions with people who have been in situtations where tact and silence was required. Otherwise, I created my plan with the help of my companions, Mike and Richard. This may suggest other resources, but to my knowledge, we mainly just used our common sense.
