Politics is ALWAYS a touchy subject- Therefore, while the generalities of details are going to be allowed as theorem, no comment on the betterness or worseness or who’s fucking dick is bigger will be tolerated. Only Administrators and AngelaB are permitted to TOUCH this page in any way, shape, or form. This is NOT a discussion.
Any and all comments on one form or another SHALL be address via a thread, entitled as the philosophy (ie, comments on Communism would be in a thread entitled “Communism”) and SHALL be deleted within 24 hours, iregardless what happens.
THIS IS THE REPRIEVE to the subject. We will have to tolerate that the idea is out there for review, but not discussion. Lazy Moderators, like Andy REDDSON, will just have to get off their ass and do their jobs.

Some people feel that the study of government and history is important in relationship with the post zday process of rebuilding. Knowledge of different types of government will give us a range of options for different group situations and knowledge of history will prevent us from repeating the mistakes of our fore-fathers

Heres a non-all inclusive list of the political systems and philosphies and some of their pros and cons.

Communism
This political philosophy takes its ideas from the writer of the "Communist Manifesto" Karl MARX. Essentially in a "true" Communist society everybody works for the good of the whole (whole meaning village, town, city, or country) This means the farmer farms, the blacksmith makes tools and hardware, the carpenter makes buildings and furniture, the cook cooks... etc. Everybody does there job, everybody gets fed and sheltered, everybody is happy.
Some argue that Communism has been twisted by dictators as a way for them to meet their own ends (LENIN, STALIN, MAO). Also issues arise when you are dealing with larger populations because people start to feel they are not being represented properly, and it becomes very easy for a small group to seize power over the others.

Democracy
In a Democracy you have all the people of the town sit down and make decisions together, generally the economy is capitalist and separate from the government in most areas.
While some argue that this works well on a small scale, it has issues in the sense that the minority can be harmed by the majority, and sometimes things don't get done as quickly as they need to, other argue that checks and balances can be imposed on even the most overbearing majority, and that emergancy action protoclas can be imposed to allow quickly nessesary action to be taken immedaitely, if not sooner (for example the US's Bicameral ssytem and the placing of the militry under the President, with the athority, for short periods at least, of sending militry personel into war zones, even AGAINST Congressional approval). However It is generally considered they fairest of the governments because everybody present at the meetings gets represented.
Republic
Much like a democracy, the primary difference is that in a republic the people elect officials to represent them in their government. The most common example of this is The United States government. The perk is that everybody has the time to go about their day to day affairs while the government does the reading and the work for them, however there are numerous issues that can arise with corruption, improper representation, and things can often take a long time to get done. It has worked in America for over 200 years with only a few major issues.

Feudalism
Feudalism refers to the mostly Medieval European political system composed of a set of reciprocal legal and military obligations, primarily among the warrior nobility. It revolved around the three key concepts of lords, vassals, and fiefs. The general system was based on one of “private contracts,” in which two members of society entered into a private-party agreement the higher would supply XYZ in terms of protection, while the lower would supply ABC in goods and/or services.

Monarchy
In a Monarchy you have a King/Queen who generally holds absolute authority over their subjects with some exceptions. Alot of European countries did this for a very long time and it did work to an extent. The function of this government depends soley on its leader and the kind of person they are, if you have a noble and wise leader then the country will prosper. If you have a stupid and ignorant leader who always "has his finger on the red button" then things can go terribly wrong. My main appreciation for this form of government is that it works very quickly because only one person needs to make a call.
Representative Monarchy
Basically this is Great Britain's government, the monarchy servers symbolic purposes while a group of elected officals runs most of the government.

Theocracy
The leader is a living breathing deity, everybody worships the leader and the leader tells everybody what to do, how to dress, imposes punishments for disobediance, etc. In many Theocracies, the Leader is not the "God" itself, but their representive on Earth.

Socialism
Government has greater control of industries. Everyone is paid equally for whatever work they do. It originated from Karl Marx's theories in the 19/20th centuary.
