IMHO you guys have it wrong. An individual or small group can't last long against the undead army. The secret of survival is to out number Z right up front. As soon as things break bad, and you realize what's going down, it's time to form up.
1. Get as many survivors as possible together ASAP, and start kicking *ss.
2. Let everyone else know your alive and welcome them join up. The short term objective is to get a better ratio of living to dead. Establish a critical mass & inertia.
3. After a day or two of hard battle you'll have the number of Z down to a manageable level for a local area. Appoint sentries and get some rest.
4. Start rebuilding and widening the defensible perimeter.
Anywhere. Two living can defeat one dead. Gather 10 living, 100, 1000, or more.
Will you be staying in your home or headed somewhere else?
Initially start in your own neighborhood. You might need to roam to build up group. Move quickly to gain more people, and fight fiercely. Save the living, take down Zed. Again, try to limit the number of dead in an area until there are more living than dead.
If you're heading out, how do you plan to get there?
However you need to move to keep the group alive. When the group is large enough don't move. Take out all the dead in your area.
Got anyone you want to take with you?
If they breath welcome them in. Everyone should help out though. After dominating an area the goal should be to start rebuilding & repopulating.
How will you communicate with the outside world, or do you plan to go the hermit route?
Definitely market your existence. Advertise on CB, Television, & Radio. Let the living know your alive and welcome them to join you. Put up signs, posters, & spray paint.
How are you planning to get food and water?
Initially use anything you can find in homes and stores. Eventually start farming and re-capture the local utilities.
What's your weapon of choice? Do you need to reload that thing? Gotta plan for that?
Anything that causes brain damage ;-) I'm partial to the samurai sword personally.
Got a survival philosophy?

you make it sound really easy
but it would be hardish to form a large group of people who will risk dying(even though they should for humanity) and what if you dont hear about it until the goverments destroyed from the inside becuase they knew about it but tried to cover it up and half your city is rioting and panicing(just like In dawn of the dead) I appluad the idea but you better no this is going to happen and get people to start joining you far befor hand the attack |
