Unarmed Combat |

Version 2 - view current page

I know what many of you must be thinking, "Why the hell would I use Unarmed Combat on a Z?" Unfortunatley it may come to that at some time. It could also be helpful on any hostile humans you encounter and you are unarmed.

First I'll talk about fighting a Z.
If encountered by the undead while searching for weapons, and therefore unarmed here are some useful techniques you could use.

Scenario 1: A zombie is stumbling toward you and you need to subdue it somehow. The easiest way to take it down would be a simple roundhouse to the temple or a side kick to the kneecap. The proper technique for a roundhouse would be to stand with your left foot forward (if your a righty) but if your a Southpaw then stand with your right foot forward. Simply bring your power leg up into a position almost making a V. Make it so your torso and head are parrallel to the ground as well. Then flick your leg out and spin all the way through. Make sure to stay on the ball of your foot while kicking so the spin will be more smooth. If one kick doesn't bring it down turn so your feet are lined up then step back with the lead foot and repeat. This may take awhile to get used to so I suggest practicing as much as you can. Now for the sidekick. A simple move really. Lead foot out then bring your power foot directly next to your lead and kick out your lead leg at the zombies knee-cap. Back up and reapeat as many time necessary.

Scenario 2: A zombie has grabbed one of your wrists. Make a fist out of the hand it has grabbed. Then with your free hand grab the fist and pull up as hard as you can. Try practicing on your friends.

Scenario 3: A zombie has grabbed both your hands. simply bring your hands to eye level and twist your arms in a circular motion. Again practice this on your friends.

Scenario 4: A hostile human is attacking with a small melee weapon (ex. knife, crowbar, screwdriver, meatcleaver). A simple attack that will catch most people off guard is if you step with your left foot and punch out with your power hand (Right handed then right hand, Left handed then left hand) punch a little past their head then step through with power leg and make a spinning motion a bring your other fist around to the persons face. If you are able to hit them they should be dazzed. Giving you enough time to follow up with another punch or kick. Even run away. To get this move down again practice with a friend, JUST DON'T HIT THEM for this move has resulted in many knockouts when I've sparred. Make sure to give yourself enough room to bring your fist around as well.

Post a comment if you've got questions or any more scenarios for me to consider. This was my first attempt at writing so if its too sketchy to understand let me know and I'll do my best to make it a little easier to understand. Thanks for reading.
