Undead: The Beginning - Zombie Survival & Defense Wiki Okay, so this is how it happened.

Chapter 1: The First Day
December 21, 2012, 0600
LT. Jack Russell walked off the Army bus and crossed the new base to the briefing room. The sun was shining on such a beautiful day, but Jack had other things on his mind. He was at an U.S Army Ranger Training Camp and had no idea why. He had gone out for all the extra training he could and was one of the best qualified Rangers in his company. When he got to the briefing room he was greeted by his captain. “Jack, how are you?” Captain Dave asked. “Good sir.” Jack replied. “May I ask what’s going on?” Jack asked. “Yeah, the Government getting report from the hospitals in this area of a strange outbreak of some new virus, people are attacking other people and the Brass wants us to step in if it gets out of hand.”
Captain Dave said. “Okay,” Jack said. “Where’s my bunk?” He asked. “In the first Barrack.”Captain Dave replied. Jack walked into the barrack and started putting gear in his locker. He got out the cleaning kit for his M-4 Carbine and field striped it. He spent the next twenty minutes cleaning his M-4 and was just finishing assembling it when Captain Dave walked in. “Get geared up. The squads moving out in ten minutes.” He said. “What happened?” Jack asked. “There’s been an outbreak at one of the hospitals, several people have been attacked and the police can’t handle it.”Captain Dave replied. “On my way.” Jack said.

December 21, 2012, 1100 Hours
The
UH-60 Black Hawk landed behind the row of Police Cruisers and the Squad disembarked. Captain Dave walked over to one of the Police Officers and asked. “What’s going on here?” “Those people went nuts.” The police officer answered. “They’re biting us! Can you believe that! Biting us.” He said. “Okay, set up positions to support the police.”Captain Dave said. The men moved to comply, and waited. The doors to the Hospital opened and a mass of people shuffled out. One of them was a doctor and the Police Sergeant walked over to him. “Are you alright?” He asked. The doctor looked at him blankly, then grabbed him and bit deep into his shoulder. The sergeant screamed in pain and yelled for help, but it was to late. The sergeant went down in a pile of nurses and doctors. “Help me! Ah they’re eating me!” He screamed as the Police andArmy Rangers opened fire. There were over three hundred of the zombie-like things vs. twenty Police Officers and ten Army Rangers. The Army Rangers were told to prepare for a light-restraining mission and only carried three clips for their M-4s. Jack was out of ammo for the M-4 in a few minutes and was down to his M-9 and KA-BAR. Jack fired the last clip for his M-9 into a doctor that was slowly approaching him. The doctor just took the rounds on his chest until Jack hit him in the head. The doctor went down after one hit in the head and stayed down. “Guys!” Jack yelled. “Shoot them in the head!” The Army Rangers stared taking head shots and the zombies started dropping. The Army Rangers started thinning out the crowd, but it was to late. The Army Rangers started falling back, then started running to theBlack Hawk as the zombies broke through the line of PoliceCruisers. Jack jumped in theBlack Hawk and turned around to help the man behind him in. “Is everyone accounted for?” Captain Dave asked. The men sounded off and everyone was there. “We lost three Police Officers.” The Medic said. “What were those things?” One of the men asked. “They were like zombies.” One of the men answered. “I shot one of them fifteen times and it didn’t go down. That’s bad.” The Medic said. “Whatever they are, we have to stop them.” The Captain said. “When we get back to base we’re going to gear up and go back out.” He added.

Chapter 2: Nightfall
December 21, 2012, 1600 Hours
Jack climbed into the
Black Hawk and strapped himself in. This time out they were better prepared. The UH-60 Black Hawk had two door gunners with M-134D Gatling Guns and the ten Army Rangers were armed to the teeth. The Outbreak had spread out of control and the Army Rangers were authorized to use lethal force on sight. The Black Hawk landed and the Army Rangers filed out. Jack moved from cover to cover, just like he’d been taught. The Zombies, or Zeds as the men had started calling them, started towards them. The Army Rangers started dropping them, but there were to many. “Captain! Get that Black Hawk back now! We have to get out of here!” Jack said. “Our orders…” The Captain began. “Damn our orders!” Jack interrupted. “We have to get out of here now!” A Zed popped up beside the Captain Dave and tore out his throat. Jack shot the Zed and rallied the rest of the men. “Okay men, fall back to the evac point and lets get out of here.” Jack said. Night started to fall as the men approached the Black Hawk. The Black Hawk gunners started firing into the horde with there M-134D Gatling Guns. The men climbed into the Black Hawk and flew back to base.

December 24, 2012, 0400 Hours
It had been three days since the initial Outbreak, and the Zeds were beating at the perimeter fence. There were only three squads left, all the others had been lost in the city. Finally one of the sections gave way and the zeds poured in. “Fall back to the barracks!” Jack yelled. He and the other men ran back towards the barracks, when Jack got there he did a quick head count. Only seven out of the thirty men who ran to the barracks made it. “Okay guys, we’re going to make a break for it. The army setting up a quarantine at the Rocky Mountains, we have twenty days to get there before they seal it off.” Jack said. The zeds broke into the barracks and no one but Jack made it out. As he walked off toward the Rockies and safety, He thought about all the friends he had lost and wondered how many more he would lose before this was over.

Chapter 3: Meeting Old (And New) Friends

December 25, 2012, 0900 hours
As Jack walked down the road he realized he was in trouble, he had used most of his M-16 ammo on the way out of the base and hadn’t exactly had the chance to stock up. He sat down on the road and pulled out the Rand McNally road atlas in his pack and looked for a small town in his area. “Here we go.” Jack said. There was a small town on the road up ahead a few miles. Jack replaced the atlas and set out. When he reached the town a half hour later, he decided on a search pattern starting at the local gun store. He walked inside and saw that is was pretty well picked over. He searched thoroughly, but there were only some scopes and other accessories left. He walked behind the desk and was surprised to see an untouched gun safe. He used his KA-BAR to pry open the drawer in the manager’s desk and found a large chain of keys. He spent the next fifteen-minutes trying to find the right key, but when he did get it open he was well rewarded. Inside were two
SIG SG 556 Assault rifles and at least forty clips for each. Also, there were two Heckler & Koch UMP .45s with ten clips for each. Jack grabbed the guns and the ammo and headed to the sporting goods store. The sporting goods store had been ignored in the rush to clean out the gun store. At least he thought it had. “Hold it right there,” a voice commanded. “Now turn around.” Jack obeyed and was greeted by the unshaved face of his best fiend in the world, Paul Stevens. “Jack?” Paul asked in wonder. “It’s me.” Jack said. The friends embraced warmly after months apart and Paul asked. “Do you know what’s going on with these things?” “No, we got deployed to New York to contain some kind of Outbreak. Next thing I know, my whole squad is gone and I have twenty days, nineteen now to get to the Rockies before the Army seals it off.” Jack replied. “You have nineteen days to gee to the Rockies?” Paul said in disbelief. “No we have nineteen days to get to the Rockies.” Jack said. “Okay, what’s your plan?” Paul asked. “We have to find a some kind of transportation, we’ll never make it walking.” Jack said. “There’s a Jeep dealership in town, maybe we could find something there.” Paul said. “Good idea, Wrangler, off road version.” Jack said. “Okay, very important question, do you have anyone alive you to bail out with?” Jack asked. “Yeah,” Paul said. “There was this farmer, he’d been bitten and he asked me to take care of his daughter and… well let’s just say we’ve been taking very good care of each other.” Paul said. “Huh, well grab her and meet me at the dealership.” Jack said. “Will do.” Paul said. As Paul walked out of the store, Jack geared up for the road. Sleeping bags, water purification system, and other essentials. Jack walked past the front desk on his way out and was stopped by a knife in the display case. It had an eight-inch blade with a sub-hilt design handle. It was perfectly balanced so Jack decided to take it. Jack headed out to the dealership to meet Paul and hit the road.

December 25, 2012, 1400 hours,
Jack had just finished filling up the jeep when Paul walked up, carrying a large duffle bag. “Jack, this is Jamie. Jamie, Jack.” He said. “Nice to meet you.” Jack said. “What’s in the duffle?” He asked. Paul opened the duffle to reveal five Remington 700's rifles and several boxes of ammo. “Nice,” Jack said. “Yeah,” Paul replied. “Load them in the back.” Jack said. Paul loaded the guns and other supplies in the back of the jeep. “Here.” Jack said, handing Paul on of the
SG 556’s and one of the UMP .45’s. “We have plenty of ammo.” Jack said. “But try to use the Remington’s as much as possible, the Remington .223 round is very popular and easy to get.” He added. They climbed in and were about to leave when a young woman came running up. “Please don’t leave!” She pleaded. “Whoa, easy.” Jack said. “Have you been bitten?” He asked. “No! No! Please don’t leave me here.” She sobbed. “She could be lying,” Paul said. “No! I haven’t been bitten. I’ll prove it.” She said, unbuttoning her blouse. “Whoa! I believe you.” Jack said. “What’s your name?” He asked. “Amanda, Amanda Holiday.” She said. “Well, climb in Amanda.” Jack said. “Hey! Wait!” Someone yelled. Jack looked at the source of the sound and found a man in his late twenties coming down the road. He was carrying a M-249 SAW and aMarlin Model 982VS Bolt-Action Rimfire Rifle and a duffle bag. “Who are you?” Jack asked. “Tom Stevens.” He said. “So Tom, you want to come with?” Paul asked. “Yeah I would. I heard that they’re closing off the West Coast at the Rockies.” Tom said. “Yeah they are. In nineteen days.” Jack said. “Well, everybody, climb in and let’s hit the road.” He said.

Chapter 4: Making Progress
December 30, 2012, 0200 hours,
Survivors Journal,
I’ve decided to keep a journal to keep track of things. We’ve been making good progress; we still have ten days until the quarantine, and were only six days away. Barring any delays, we’re home free. “Jack, we have something to tell you.” Jack looked up to see Paul and Jamie looking down at him. “Yeah?” He asked. “I’m pregnant.” Jamie said sheepishly. “Oh. Uh okay.” Jack said. “We’re only a few days away from the safe zone, they’ll be able to handle it.” Jack said. “Okay.” Jamie said and walked back to her tent. “Definitely taking very good care of each other.” Jack commented. “Yeah, I definitely screwed this one up.” Paul said. “Yeah, in more ways than one.” Jack joked. “What’s going on over there?” Tom asked. “Nothing.” Jack said chuckling. There was a crack in the nearby woods and Jack looked over to at least four-dozen zeds coming trough the trees. “Shit! Paul! Get everyone ready. It’s gonna be a hell of a night.” Jack said. He grabbed his
SIG SG 550 and started shooting into the crowd. The marksmen training he had received was paying off, he was making head shots at a couple hundred yards and more. Tom fired his .22 and dropped two zeds in ten seconds. Then he unleashed his M-249. Forty seconds and a hundred rounds later, the woods were full of dead and disabled zeds. Jack pulled his machete and calmly said. “Move through the woods and put them out of their misery.” “Yeah.” Paul said, pulling a machete. They spent an hour making sure all the Zeds were dead. Again. When they got back to camp they were to edgy to sleep so Jack pulled out his Gibson six-string acoustic guitar and asked if anyone had any requests. “Dust in the Wind” Amanda said. Jack paused for a second, then he started playing. As he played Paul, who had the better voice, sang. Tom joined him on the second verse, then Amanda and Jamie joined in as well. When he was done, they asked him to play again, so he did. They wanted him to play again, but he declined. “Come on guys.” He said. “We have to hit the road.”

July 2, 2008, 0900 hours,
Survivors Journal,
Only four days to the safe zone, but I have the feeling deep down that something is wrong. I haven’t said anything to the others, don’t want to worry them, but there IS something wrong here. “Back off!” Jack yelled. “Get the jeep ready!” there were hundreds of Zeds in the field around them. He dropped another zed then ran to the jeep. “It won’t start!” Jamie said. “Keep trying!” Paul yelled. Jack ran out of UMP .45 ammo, and his
SG 556 was in the jeep so he used his machete, striking at the heads. The jeep roared into life behind and Jamie announced that she had got it. Jack didn’t bother with the door, he just vaulted over it and hit the gas. “Damn, that was close.” Paul said as they drove off. “Yeah it was,” Jack said. “We have to get to the safe zone before they seal it of or we’re screwed.” He added.

Chapter 5: The End
January 6, 2013, 1300 hours,
Survivors Journal,
We’re only a few miles from the safe zone, the feeling of dread is killing me. Oh well, in a few days it will all be over, I wonder if any body in my company is alive. Jack pulled the jeep up to the guardhouse and waited for the guard to open the gate. When he didn’t, Amanda leaned over and honked the horn. “He’s probably asleep.” She muttered, hitting the horn again. The guard turned around and they were horrified to see that his throat was torn out, he was a zed. Tom shot him and they walked up to the cast-iron gate. There were hundreds of zeds chasing a group of people towards the gate. “Tom! Open the gate, then shut it when they’re through!” Jack yelled. The gate rolled open and the people squeezed through as Tom shut it. “Thank you.” One of the people said, panting. There were two soldiers and three women. “Jake?” Jack asked, looking at one of the soldiers. “Jack!” Jake said. The two men embraced warmly. “Jake was the sniper in my platoon.” Jack explained. “The whole safe zone has been infiltrated,” Jake said. “They’re everywhere.” “Now what do we do?” Paul asked. “I have no idea.” Jake said. “Same thing we’ve been doing.” Jack said. “Survive.”
