So my friend owns over 30 guns (mostly handguns, shotguns, and rifles) and 5,000 rounds of ammunition total. He also has a large knife collection and several axes of multiple sizes. In addition, he has a really loud sound system which has forced him to sound-proof the entire house with lead. The windows are also sound-proof. the house is on the outer corner of a street that curves at a 90 degree angle. Anybody have suggestions for improving it as a post-apocalyptic hideout?

I have been wondering for awhile now but after about 10 years since the last zeds are dead and technology breaks down entirely...how do people plan on continuing there lives?
In my eyes this is a major problem because it may take hundreds of years to get back to where we were when we could easily maintain our homes and go buy new things that we need in order to continue with our lives...i don't know about you, but i sure don't know how to make a hoe for gardening or insulation for warmth. This just makes me wonder, how much is long term and how sustainable can someone be?

As soon as i hear the alarm i drop evrything. i take the bamboo stick and search the apartment for threatnig zoombies and my famly. my bob has a first aid kit for cars, kitchen knife fold out knife NaCl (9%), my cash (depends on current amount) extra first aid, a liter of water and a map of the *****.
If i find my famly or not, i try to find keys for the car, tought im not old enough to drive. idont forget my keys. I go to the garages, and search our garage for food and weapons. the garages are secured, by two armored door with locks on outer sides, big sliding door from aluminium at the end, and two sets of fire blicking doors (witch i will clise in case the main door break. I will loot the bulding and make soure if there are any survivor and i will try and get them to the garages. we wuld then take pillows and any matress we culd find to make a sefe camp. Soon we wuld run out of food and we wuld go out to the grocery store that has an elevator runing directly in to the garages for easy transportation (or something like that). we wuld try and run it, or if it doesnt work break it down, to make clear entry for us to loot the shop. soon i wuld make this a refuge center by looting the phermacy and maybe even the two mayor markets beacuse they are full of food, but i wuld not do i t alone. the only mayor isue iwe got is how wuld i gain respect, but i think demokracy would do just as good. P. S. when i wuld loot for weapons i look for stuf to use to break in like hammers and axes. |

Day 1- When I first hear of a zombie apocalypse I will call my friends and family and activate our preplanned preparations. Then I will begin collecting supplies to travel to our survival camp. I will be ready within the hour and will wait for the others to also be ready. While I wait I will have blockaded the house to a degree only enough so that I could escape if zombies siege my home. I will also be printing off directions to our camp as well as survival instructions to used later on such as farming advice. Our group will consist of approximately 3 families with 4 members in each, 3 fathers all in decent shape, 3 mothers that would be able to keep up, my sister who was a track runner for 4 years, 5 brothers, 3 of which are 17 and all in great shape as well at 2 fourteen year olds that can learn the ropes. Our target camp is 220 miles north which is a 4 hour unblocked trip by car, I anticipate it to take a week or 2. The path is almost directly north and goes on 2 highways. I am well aware of the fact roads and highways will be extremely dangerous with so many cars stuck in traffic. If all goes well we could get about half way before having to abandon our vehicles which will be 2 late 2000 ford explorers and a mid 2000 chevy Silverado. I also know that they are not the most fuel efficient vehicles but we need them to pull our 2 boats. The plan will later involve using the boats on a lake to transport supplies to very defendable island. The vehicles will be stocked with things that are very helpful but not necessities. But later on that, each member of the clan((like that, clan, cool word) not to be mistaken for some *** bull more like braveheart clan) will carry a pack and ready to move gear with them for incase we have to dismount our vehicles. The packs will vary on the build and needs of the person but contain the most vital things we will need, the vehicles are to bring things we would want but can go without. THE REST IS IN THE COMMENTS

Me:Im 13, live in south london (suburbs), no weapons other than what I can find in my house and im in pretty good physical condition other than needing glasses. In my unfinished BOB I have a swiss army knife, a lighter, map, dynamo torch, a basic first aid kit, spare clothing, a few bottles of water and a compass. I know basic sailing, im alright at archery, and I know how to ride horses quite well.
First of all, I will watch the news, looking at different sources, newspapers, internet, television. When reports of 'mass cannibalism' or anything else that could be zombies, I will attempt to gather my family and friends. If I can get my family to follow me then good, if not, then I will continue with my plan. I will gather some canned food from my kitchen and put it into a bag, and also some bottled water. I will then walk or cycle to the riding school/stables near me. It takes about 5 minutes to get there by bike. It has a lot of farmland nearby, and lakes for water. They also breed chickens. The horses there can be used for transport and food if necessary.

OKAY! so i'm new to all things zombie so help would be nice. ANY WAY, i'm 11, and my parents won't let me hunt, so I've got no guns... I'm am in Hutto, Texas, a small town about 45 minute drive from Austin. I'm the leader of a Survival Team [5 Girls {including me} and 4 boys] so we would all meet out side of Lowes with the stuff we brought (list below) and head to Wyoming, being the least populated state. I will collect all survivors and (cows, chicken, pigs ETC.) on the way there. Last time i visited, there was a forest with a river (water!!). and build an elaborate full tree house system (buildings and jobs below) while barricading all around the camps ( about 20 yards away from camp) and work on building more. I will put a BIG thing on each building we pass tell the survivors were to go (good right?). And, like in Battlestar Galactica will start having babies.

Hey im new and here's my survival plan
For first one if i didn't knew it was coming and I was at school then I would leave and gather my friends and soon form a 7 man unit. Like for my Friends would have been for names are Jerritt, Jalice, Kevin, Debbie, Lamar,Darneisia and Caleb. Soon we would found a good truck like a Chevrolet 2000 suburban soon since my school is in Oakland or Pittsburgh University I woulda went to the water front and went to Durhams there are AR-15's M16s, Tents and hand guns there we woulda went to the forest called Camp Guyasuta were there are a lot of forest area and wait when the hell storm is over in which it woulda took a couple of days then when the main police and national guard officials were overrun-ed then my 7 man unit woulda came back to the city and find tactical stuff that the military had left over during the city zombie fight. There we would gathered food, ammunition and supplies while we went back to the woods we woulda have motion sensors, claymores and a highly powered explosive like C-4 around are 7 man camp in which there is no civilizations for about 3 miles to the nearest town or city. But for teh most part we woulda been and search and rescue team and had helped out people trapped in the city. But as far as I know that is what had been my Zombie Survival.

height:5'11" weight:180 build:average location: oklahoma weapons on hand/in house: .22 m1 garand,30-06 remmington semiauto rifle, cassic smith and wesson .357 lever action rifle , glock 6,.45 taures bull, excaliber phoenix crossbow, benneli mf pump-action scattergun, varius knives ok now for the plan i live in a relatively small town of about 5,000 people, live with fiance, served in the military for 2 years, and drive a humer h2 my plan doesent relie on walmart, getting out of town, or the gun store. my father was a farmer and thought me how to farm and hunt. my plan is to barricade my farm and use it as a safe haven for me, my fiancée, and my family. My farm is already barricadided as the local teens like to light fires in my corn fields so i had to build 9 feet barbed fences and my house has shutters, 2 stories, and tons of plywood lying around. so using my skills, weapons and family i will survive...(maybe) this may not be the best plan and i will take all the criticizem u can give

Day-61-unspecified-
Jobs will be assigned based on skills and everyone will be trained the use of firearms. 10 rules will be created and never more but they will be law. Life will include taking watch for 2 hours a day, training such as weapons and exercise, eating twice a day until proper food source is secured, houses will be installed with winter preparations and wood will be stockpiled. If nothing to do books and games will be stocked in community building as well as sports equipment. Parties will go out once a week to recon, mark locations on a map, find food, hunt zombies, and change restroom tubs. Local lakes will also be traveled to and fished in for food. Hunting will be regulated to prevent over hunting of large game. Other survivors are to be avoided and not to be brought back to camp. If contact is made trading is aloud but only if they don’t seem to be a risk to your health. Farm land will be established inland and fences put up around them. Transportation will be canoe and bicycle or by foot, but motor transport such as truck and boat will be kept close. Hunter parties will be organized to drive into town draw out zombies kill them, take a different route and return to base camp. This will be our zombie survival plan, Ya. Sorry for making so many posts

Once houses are built a community building, kitchen, armory, bathroom, and fortified gate will be built. The center of the village will hold a community building to hang out at as well as a basement with a tubing ventilation system for a fire at night. The kitchen will store food as well as food preparation stations and eating tables. The armory will be used to store weapons and ammunition. Restrooms will be built with tubs underneath that are removable. Once tubs are full they will be taken inland and disposed of. The gate will have a tower on each side with a lifting gate, the gate door will go into the ground like the trenches. It will be lifted into the air and tied off during the day and lowered during the night. Once completed we will dig a second trench 5 feet deep and 3 feet wide 20 feet outside the main wall. With wire and empty cans at the bottom to give us an early warning system.

Day 10-14-
After arriving at the lake we will set up a temporary camp in one of the lake houses. After settling and preparing defenses the rest of the day will be used to relax and recover with light guard duty. The day will be spent enjoying the old way of life for a last time. Fear of zombies is much declined due to isolation and small population in northern part of state. If vehicles weren’t left behind the boats will be put in the lake and vehicles parked in key positions. Water will be stored in large quantities as well as food scavenged from local homes. Wounds or sores will be looked at and given proper medication. Sleep will be aloud until 9 AM the next day and then work will begin. Day 1-60- After waking of all members local boats will be liberated and brought to our pier. Supplies will be loaded onto them and taken to the Island. Once there they will be taken inland and stored under rain proof tents. All of the local homes will be searched and looted for food and water as well as any useful objects. Guard duty will be limited to 1 person at the main house switching every hour. Local vehicles will also be brought to our house to be used later. The island will be mapped out and markers will be placed to show where building is to be done. Restroom pits will be dug close to home in an open area. Trench we’ll be dug on island for walls to be placed in, walls will be trees place vertically 4 feet into the ground and 8 feet above them. This phase is anticipated to take up to 2 weeks and will include much hard labor. During this phase members will still live on the main land and work as long as there is sunlight. Once the wall is built houses will begin to be built inside of it using materials from the lakeside houses. 2 pontoon boats will be cleared of rails and seats, filled with materials, and pulled to the island.

Anyway back to day one, once our team is assembled at code named drummerboy’s house we will stay the night. Taking shifts we will begin to get in the practice of guarding at night. Personal pack: 1 bolt action 30-06, 1 semi auto 22, ammo for both, 1 hatchet, 3 knives, 1 sweatshirt, 1 pair of jeans, 1 pair of shorts, 3 t-shirts, 4 pairs of boxers, 5 pair of socks, 1 hat,2 tooth brushes, 2 books, 1 notebook, 3 pens, 1 flashlight, 1 pair of binoculars, 1 pair of shoes, 1 pair of boots, Ipod touch, walki talki, compass, deck of cards, tackle and fishing equipment, sleeping bag, wide range of food, water, salt, iodine, matches, lighter, shaving equipment, buzzers, eating utensils. Day 2-7- Our clan we leave early in the morning heading north towards camp FPKZ . Using a convoy technique and walki talkies we’ll use the high ways to get as far north as possible not making any stops. If roads become congested we will detour using close roads until able to pass traffic or continuing north. Each member will have a ready pack available as well as bicycles on roof of the vehicles in case of emergency. If we must dismount and abandon the vehicles we will continue on bike traveling for an hour and having 20 minute breaks in-between each hour of travel. At night we will set up camp in a nearby house or in the woods with armed guards switching shifts throughout the night. Rules of engagement will be to awaken 2 more people and having 2 go out to silently kill individual zombies. Guns will be reserved for emergency such as being overrun. If large body of zombies is in area or approaching, silent and quick movement of the camp will occur. No other survivors will join our clan but if a situation occurs we may trade or talk with them after they have been deemed friendly. More food and water will be acquired as we pass through gas stations, but we will not enter any towns. Food and water will be rationed with leniency towards those who require it.

My survival plan is probably a bit different. Instead of wandering around with a rucksack, I've decided to set up a colony. Taking a small part of my town, I with the help of my fellow survivors, would set up walls to keep the zombie hoard out while we are working towards complete independence and long term survival. The walls would be 8 feet tall, with an additional 4 feet being buried underground and held by concrete, for a total of 12 feet. The colony would, of course, work to lower the number of infected in the immediate area. In addition to necessary zombie killing, the rest of the survivors and I would establish a set of rules for life within the compound, as well as set up a greenhouse and irrigation system, security to keep all the survivors safe, and a team to look for canned goods and more survivors. The theory is basically set up a base, search for and find survivors, as well as a way to keep everyone fed and watered. We would also need to figure out a water purification system and a way to breed the animals we need for food. The last thing anyone would need to become infected via the water source.
That's a pretty basic description of my survival plan. So friends and I have thought it out and have drawn up blueprints and such. It also helps that we live in a rural area with a local power plant near by. This will ensure that everyone in our colony has electricity and running water; two things we think will not only make life significantly more comfortable but will help in multiple ways, including medically, physically, psychologically and for food storage.

Living in Michigan, I have the Great Lakes at my disposal should a zombie apocalypse occur, and I would plan on utilizing those. This plan assumes that the zombies are unable to swim, as their poor motor control wouldn't allow for such complex and physically demanding tasks.
On first notice of the zombie breakout, my first priority would be getting out of town. I would take a small, party with minimal supplies with me initially, as getting out of populated areas would be the top objective at that point. The main objective would then be to head up to the Northwestern part of the lower peninsula. In this area, there are several small port towns that would be full of supplies while maintaining a small population. In addition, I would pass by several smaller, middle-of-nowhere hunting towns that would certainly have a gun store of some kind. It is in these towns that I would stock up on basic supplies, such as weapons, ammo, food and living supplies, mainly in the form of camping gear. These stops would be extremely limited, essentially being a simple raid of whatever shops I might find along the way. From there I would continue to the nearest port town. Once there, I would quickly locate a house boat, or something as close to that as I could find. My party might make another quick raid on a local Wal-Mart or grocery store to stock up on last-minute supplies. Hopefully the outbreak has not reached this small of a town yet, otherwise this step would have to be skipped. Once a houseboat has been located, the party would proceed to anchor it a few miles away from the town, and about a couple hundred feet offshore. At this point, the goal is to simply wait out the apocalypse until the military is able to put it down. With the food collected from the initial trip out, the party should be able to sustain themselves for a few weeks.

Note: I Live in A Apartment, not a house.
STEPS. 1: I Will Turn on tubs, sinks, fill canisters of water, fill cups, water-bottles, and any shutting container, At first sign of infection. Let them fill and i will have enough water for a little bit until i leave my apartment. 2: Cover all windows with tarps (6ft tarps) for every window. (I Will grab these later) And Fill Bags With Supplies, like clothes, coats, weapons (I Don't have any guns so I will make some weapons and grab some knives and other things.) 3: Travel in a bus, I'l try to take control of a city bus that regularly passes by, try to make everyone stay calm and i'l drive the bus 43 miles going to a forest near nebraska, this is pre-barricaded, i'v already been camping here and we found a bunker with a lock on the ground, it is large but i'l get some lights installed into it next month when we go agian. very dark. Search everyone for bite marks, i'l have a team do this, have them quarantined in a room next to it. 4. Build various walls sorrounding it, have houses under trees so no helicopters/ aircrafts we'll spot us. (chance of being raiders) 5. Setup radios in all houses, ( i have 40 short waves walkee-talkies that we can communicate on if any sign of trouble. 6. Once Settled setup farms, search for any fruit and grow it, the bunker will be near this, plant it until we reach a stream about a mile north, exit through a back door on the bunker (which has a heavy stone barrier which opens) and reach that for water, we won't setup by this in case of bombings. (These won't do any effect on zombies, unless the fire reaches there brain) 7.Stay stationary unless zombies breach, take weapons in the bunker and go into back door. 8. Go into forest and grab bags filled with supplies and setup another camp Repeat steps 4-8, discluding the bunker and make more homes, have a higher barricade level here

First and Foremost is to gather information. At the first sign of outbreak I need to know the following
a) where it is in relation to my location b) how the infection is spread c) the behavior of the infected d) what the government is doing about it With information I can make the best decisions for my survival - I'm not just going to bunk up if the infection is airborne. If the infection is transmitted only through body fluid contacts with my own body fluids (ie. biting, kissing, sexual intercourse,) most similar to HIV, then I can put together gear made of all my heavy leather clothing and my old steel toed boots with a layer of extra clothing underneath. If the infection is spread in a manor similar to the flu then I have to add an additional later of protective material made out of garbage bags - or any other material that would stop microbes from reaching my body). If the infection is airborne then there's really not a whole lot you can do to my knowledge. The behavior of the zombies is definitely valuable information to have. If they're motor functions are severely limited (slow clumsy) then I can plan my personal defenses accordingly. I won't need to focus heavily on armament and I can use my very limited supply storage (my own person) to carrying other gear. I can simply focus on removing myself from civilization. If they possess normal movement speed then I will need to acquire weaponry - walmart sells crossbows and there's a gun shop down the road from my home. So my survival plan is basically - Information, know what your up against. Knowledge is power regardless of the situation.
