Vehicles - Zombie Survival & Defense WikiHorse: A quiet means of escape or travel to safer and more secure areas. Can carry somewhat large amounts of equipment. No gas required except for vegetation and water, easy to find if not in an urban area. Horses are not for inexperienced riders, as the horse may become startled and throw the rider. A horse will not attract attention like a motor vehicle, but if zombies are encountered on a horse, the horse will not stand a chance in a fight and it would be best to continue riding away. In medieval days knights rode around breaking heads before Z day. Dressage was training just for wars.

2008 YZ450F & 2008 Raptor 700ROff-Road Motorcycles and Sport ATVs : Off-Road Motorcycles and Sport ATVs are only really good for a fast exit or to relieve boredom. The Sport ATV is probably the best of the two because you could mount a few spikes on the front and mow some zombies down; where as with the bike you would probably flip and die tragically whilst laughing zombies eat your burning corpse (Mmmmm crispy).

BMW F 800 GS

BMW Darkar 650 Enduro BikeDual-Sport/Enduro Motorcycles
:
These bikes are meant to go on long rides on the highway and also take on some of the toughest trails out there. They look like half street bike, and half dirt bike, because thats exactly what they are. They are heavier than a dirt bike (400lbs vs 200lbs) but can still get just about anywhere. I've seen these bikes tackle some of the worst terrain, crash 5 or 6 times, get left out in the rain for days, then start up and work fine. Enduro bikes are meant to be loaded up with with gear and many have saddle bag (side bag) mounting on them. With the ability to go anywhere (I truly mean that), carry around 40 lbs of gear on the sides, and sport 50 MPG, these bikes are made to for the solo zombie survivor.

Obtainably: Civilian
Maintenance: Low
Gas Mileage: High
Toughness: Medium-High
Advantages: Won't get worn out by long rides on the road (unlike dirt-bike), some have 12v power plugs, 50 MPG, can go over any terrain
Disadvantages: Exposed, can't carry as much as a car, louder than a car, and if you hit something or crash, well you know the rest

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hummer H2 SUTHummer H2 SUT: Useful for mowing down zombies, but you'd have to first put on armor plating on the Hummer and put link fencing on the windows so if you get caught in the middle of an army of zombies it won't be that easy for them to get in. Also on a side note, as stated in The Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks (ZSG), not all Hummers are as rugged and tough as they are advertised, so know your vehicle before you choose this as your transportation. And, as is to be expected, gas is always a major concern with these vehicles. Make sure you stock up on gas before hand.

Oldsmobile (Or other80s car)

Oldsmobile or other 80s car is useful but still it has its cons. The good side with these vehicles is that they are fast and powerful and can be used for quick rescue of 1-3 pepole. The bad is that it cant carry much stuff/ personnel, it aint very though if crashing to a pack of zombies. And it can drink lotsa gas so you better be prepared for that part. Mostly it should be used for a rescue of one person or to scout the area. It can be also for delivering a package from somewhere to base like extra first-aid kits from hospital

2008 Dodge Ram 1500
Dodge Ram 1500: The third-generation Ram is like most pick-up trucks this car is very dependable. The Dodge Ram 1500 is one of the stereotypical apocalypse vehicle, rugged, easily modifiable, and built to last. You've seen the commercial where they drop something huge on the bed of it. Any way what I'm trying to say is that this thing is tough. You can pretty much use it to move anything. Whether it is people, ammo, guns, supplies, or materials for building, the Dodge Ram 1500 will get the job done. With 4 wheel drive it'll get over just about anything you through at it. (Even zombies :D) It seats 5 including the middle seat in the rear (only on some trucks) and then you can always pile people in the back. Another plus is of course, the ability to mount a weapon on the back. To sum it all up this is a very nice choice. Only one disadvantage, its have bad miles per gallon.

1995-1997 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer 2-doorChevrolet S-10 Blazer:
The second generation Chevrolet S-10 Blazer is a rugged off road vehicle for the Zombie Survivalist who needs to barrel through snow, travel through (mildly) unforgiving terrain, or plow through the (small) hoards of zombies. It comes in both 2 door and 4 door model, in case you want to bring one, or a few of your friends! The roomy cargo area in back can store many of your necessities; weapons, food, medical gear, communition equipment, ect. It comes with a 2.2L L43I4 motor or a 4.3 Vortec 4300 V6 motor for he who needs more power. (Vortec motors are essentialy turbocharged without the turbocharger. I.E. A poor mans turbo.) Parts are very easy to come by, and the vehicle is easily upgraded. However, due to its offroadery and independant suspension, it chews through balljoints and other parts like cheese. However, it is a fairly reliable vehicle, if you can look past its dependancy on gasoline and not diesel.

Obtainability: Anywhere vehicles are sold or kept, including fleet vehicles and police vehicles.

2007 Ford Expedition EL
Ford Expedition EL : This third generation Expedition is an extended-wheelbase version called the Expedition EL (for "Extended Length") in the United States and the Expedition Max in Canada. The Expedition EL is about 15.8 in longer than the standard Expedition for additional cargo space for those supplies your group depends on. Like most SUVs in the zombie outbreak, it can be fitted with a make-shift shooting platform on the roof. Need to rip open a barricade or tow your fellow survivors? This model of the Expedition can pull over 7,290 lbs. This vehicle is the only SUV in the Ford line to offer seating for seven.

Freightliner Semi-Trailer Truck with box trailerSemi-Trailer Truck: A Semi-Trailer Truck is great and it comes in very handy for moving large groups of people around, also great for getting 30 armed people to pour out the back of a truck to the center of the city to raid for supplies. Hard to navigate around corners, and not meant for city travel, you may have some trouble getting this around, but it will bring you in a main road to the center of town, and back again. Designed for long hauls, these things will allow you to carry a TON of provisions and ammo, and will take you long distances. Not a bad choice for hauling across the country, but not the best for navigating around town.

they are reliable and good for moving large groups of people around. They can be used as barricades (Ever see The Road Warrior?) Other advantages are that you can weld sheet metal or anything you can find to it to re-enforce it.

Waste Management Garbage TruckGarbage Truck: Probably the best anti-zombie vehicle. It's made of reinforced steel, so you're protected. It gets great gas mileage, designed for stop-and-go driving, designed for maximum cargo capacity, can easily go on or off road, and can go through road blocks with ease. Its low center of gravity, as well as its weight, make it extremely hard to tip over. It's pretty high up off the ground as well, so undead won't be able to climb up. It's pretty easy to find too. Clean it out good, stuff provisions, extra fuel, and ammo in the back, get a sniper or two up top, and you're good to go.

AmbulanceAmbulance : While lacking in off-road capabilities ambulances are rather tough vehicles. An advantage of the ambulance is that it has a lot of room for storage, and, when found, carries emergency medical supplies. As with all emergency vehicles it is rather tough, and surprisingly easy to maintain (the same may not be true with its equipment). In terms of gas mileage, this vehicle is a good bet for short range travel/ mobile insertion and extraction. With only slight modification, this would be the perfect centerpiece for your band of survivors. On a downside, the only semi-sure place to find one of these would be a hospital, and the keys are unlikely to be left with the vehicle. As we have all read, hospitals are some of the most dangerous areas during an outbreak due to the chaos and lack of maintenance that follows an outbreak, but this is the topic of another section.

Fire EngineFire Engine : If you ever where walking around with your group and you came across one of these things, the best idea would be to keep walking. Lets start this the disadvatages (theres a lot of them) Its VERY loud and has sirens and bells, not ideal for sneaking through zombie territory. And not to mention low gas milage. (Can you imagine what it takes to fill up this thing?!?) Also its very large and hard to turn. And its not like driving a normal car either, it takes some skill. But for the advantages, it is VERY tough and can carry lots of supplies. And for your injured buddies theres usually some medical equiptment inside along with a radio for what ever reason you would need it for. And the only other advantage I can think of is that if its a ladder truck it would carry a ladder, never know when you'll need a ladder.

M1A1 AbramsM1A1 Abrams: The M1A1 Abrams tank could be a little hard to find. But if you did then you're the luckiest person alive (or the only person alive)!!! Some tanks might not be so useful, e.g. if the M1A1 Abrams tank has a big-ass cannon which fires a giant heat-seeking rocket it might not be so useful whilst going through a city's streets; where as a turret with a dual machine gun would be a lot better. Unlike the Hummer, good amount of durability is to be expected with the M1A1 Abrams tank. Fuel, however becomes an even bigger issue, with some of these vehicles getting only one mile to the gallon. Also, consider where you will be able to resupply with ammo before you take this weapon. However, at the very least, in an apocalyptic world, your M1A1 Abrams tank could be traded to someone else for plenty of other useful supplies.

Vehicles - Zombie Survival & Defense WikiA.P.C. (Armored Personnel Carrier): The A.P.C. is probably the best vehicle for a zombie invasion, although rather hard to find, has its advantages, it can carry lots of survivors, and has a small turret. If you modify it correctly it could plow down an army of zombies with a plow on the front. Gas, again becomes an issue (noticing a pattern here?). With this comes many of the same problems as in a M1A1 Abrams tank. This, like the tank, would be worth a lot in trade and intimidation if nothing else.

Vehicles - Zombie Survival & Defense Wiki
Armored Bulldozer : Oh the beauty of 50 tons of zombie stomping glory! Though this vehicle has everything you could want, its more practical uses are:
  • Thinning out the growing zed horde outside your stronghold gates.
  • Short range supply runs.
  • External barricade construction.
  • Armored weapons platform.
  • Defense against hostile survivors.

Although you may all think I'm crazy because it eats a ton of gas. Last time I checked the number of humans alive to use gas other than me in a post apocalyptic zed world here in my town would be countable on my fingers and toes. Plus New Mexico refines about 80% of the fuel used in the United States so I'm not really to worried about being able to get fuel.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

24' Houdehold MoverMoving Truck : The U -Haul Moving Truck is a good zombie defense/offense vehicle & living space. Just put on armor with 1,000 gallons of reserve diesel fuel, 500 gallons of water, Two Raptor 700R Sport ATVs (with their own storage room/exit), sleeping for 8 survivors, three months of meals to last those 8 survivors, winch, generator (diesel) and plenty of guns and ammo. Also there would be 2 remote scout planes with video so we can see whats up ahead. There would also be a spare engines for the two ATVs and parts for the engines along with tools.

You will probably not find one.Don't look for one.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Vehicles - Zombie Survival & Defense Wiki Ditch Witch: A Ditch Witch (aka "trencher") is essentially a Bobcat or tractor with a specialized trenching attachment, generally hydraulic-powered, on the back end. They're as maneuverable as the base tractor or Bobcat, but correspondingly slow. And I don't think the trencher would be useful either as a weapon or for digging moats. But if you have to bury pipelines, powerlines, or comms cables in a hurry, this is the tool to use. Maybe that can be used to create an ingenious booby-trap. (Suggestions are welcome.)

In a sufficiently silly movie plot, the Wizard of Oz misquote "Are you a Fishwich, or a Ditch Witch?" might confuse a zombie long enough for you to make an escape. But not on the Ditch Witch.

Vehicles - Zombie Survival & Defense WikiGrocery Cart: I'm not kidding, if there's nothing else just hop in and ride. if you need some added protection just put some wood over the top and crouch inside. for more practical uses use them inside your Wal- Mart/fortress. Plenty of them why not use them? Also you could carry small amounts of supplies. Or you could cut em up and use them to re-enforce something. Or, have a buddy hop in with a gun and run on through zombie territory!

A standard skateboardSkateboard:A pretty bad idea, right? I mean, you can trip and fall off, they need some maintenance, and not everyone owns one. Plus, it provides you no cover, can only hold one person (fat people can't ride one), and will never be useful as a weapon unless you pick it upi and hit a zombie repeatdely with it. To ride one, you should have a helmet and elbow and knee pads. If you do have one and a zombie is after you, it is probably more useful to jog away. The only advantage is that they need no type of fuel other than a comfortable and ready rider.

If you plan on riding out a zombie apocalypse in one of these, just commit suicide or run into a zombie mob while you are on fire. T-34 tank with infantry riding on itT-43: A bit tricky to get your hands on and it is old but for all its bad points it probably the best tank a civilian (with a lot of cash) can get your hands on.

Its agile (for a tank) its small enough to go down streets.if you can get one with its weapons fully operational and with ammo (tricky but not that hard if you know where to look) and you have fuel It could be your ticket to survival. If it can survive world war 2 and come out on top it can survive Z day. So if there was one word to sum this thing up it would be, worthless

Vehicles - Zombie Survival & Defense Wiki
Aardvark Mk III: If you are lucky enough to find one, there is no zombie on earth that can stop you. The Aardvark was designed as a land mine clearing machine. With sound proof walls, air conditioner with temperature controls, and filtered fresh air intake with booster fan, this bad boy can fit two people. The most impressive thing about this machine and what will no doubt fill you with satisfaction when driving through the hoards of undead, is the flail mounted on the front. The flail drum rotates anti-clockwise up to a speed of 305rpm, destroying EVERYTHING in its path. To date, no operator of the Aardvark has ever sustained any injury. Built as a land mine clearing machine this baby will no doubt easily withstand the hoards of undead scum.
