There is, it seems, ENDLESS comments that one should attempt to hold up in an oil platform.
Allow me to disabuse you of this idea. Fire (and if it catches fire, you have no where to run but the water, where you drown, get eaten by sharks, or freeze to death) Capsizing (and drown before you even get above deck) Sinking (ditto) Running ashore (I GUESS it beats drowning) Starvation I guess if you say that beats facing the skin jobs, you go for it. As a professional mariner, I'm telling you that that is a slow suicide. Really, a bad choice; I know Max BROOKS sung it’s praises, but that’s because he’s a comedian. First, you have no food (if you really think you can fish enough to sustain you, you’re suicidal). Second, you have a real probability (not possibility, probability) of critical failure leading to either sinking or fire, either way, you’re gonna die. Do not even contemplate it. |
