¿Can someone please explain to me why you might want an Garand over a Carbine, and a Carbine over a BAR? I looked over all three and have only fire a BAR (and only one shot at that, since I was about 10-ish at the time) I really was at a loss as to why the Garand is so damned popular. (Admittedly, the extent of my ‘massive’ experience with the Garand was TraCen Cape May, where they issued us de-milled versions.)

Some of the weaps on this page are still in general production, even though none have been in mainstream militry service in most cases for well over 50 years.
Those still in production should be moved to the Civvy weaps page, and thos in the civvy weaps page that are not in production anymore be moved here. |

Not trying to take away from this page, I love the weapons of WWII. The M1 Garand and Carbine will always have a special spot in my heart. BUT! I have used an M16A2 as my fighting weapon and I have had the M9 bayonet attached and have beat the holy living hell out of my weapon. The worst thing to have happened is that I got a little dirt in the front sight post. Just squaring a few common misnomers away. Not every one has had to carry, care for and fire an M16/AR15 family weapon before. I personally wish that the basic issue weapon was M14s... but wish in one hand and sh!t in the other... right?
