I have noticed that since I have joined this site and talking about zombies and other apocalypse ideas that my gun collection is growing.
I started with a Sears bolt action single shot .22, Sears bolt action single shot 20 gauge, Remington double barrel over under 12 gauge, double barrel .357 derringer, and a Smith and Wesson 686 .357 revolver. I now have all of the above except the derringer and H&K MR 556 (AR), SKS, Maverick 12 gauge pump, Glock 22, Remington 1911, and my new carry gun a Keltec P11 (9mm). Has anyone else noticed that their gun collection has gotten larger since joining the site or is it just me?

A video with good points, and something everyone should watch at least once to understand the idea. It also gives good examples for people who want to stay on a low budget with knives.

Main: Ruger 10/22 (AWC ultra II) http://www.awcsystech.com/products/suppressors/ultra-ii-semi-auto/
Sidearm: Ruger Mk. II (AWC amphibian S) http://www.awcsystech.com/products/suppressors/amphibian-s/ Backup: Colt Diamondback (Snubnose 2.5 inch barrel) All the guns above share the same .22lr ammo. The first two guns are also supressor-equipped, a must have perk for Z-day firearms! Any thoughts appreciated.

Lets face it. not everyone has guns, and most people have little to no knowledge on how to keep them in a good state of repair. I`m no expert on these, but I know that several, like zip guns, only require a small piece of metal and a .22 caliber bullet. I know that there are many more, and having neither the time nor resources to go out and find them, hoped that anyone reading this who happens to know a few, could leave them behind.
also, sorry if this is the wrong place for this or something, but I really didn't know where else to put it.

I think it would be slightly better if they had seperate pages for the different swords knifes machetes, then theres blunt weapons like baseball bats, crochet rackets and such. Just would make it where the page is not so long and time consuming to read.

One thing I have discovered is a lack of articles relating to how people store and maintain their weapons.Whether is be a locked cupboard or an underground bunker cache, what is your setup?

I may be 12 years old, but I can fire an air rifle ( i live in the country, we shoot cans for fun), I know basic martial arts, and I know about 8 different very common edible plants. I can use a knife, build a shelter, whittle, start a fire, bake a potato in a fire without incident, and prepare a BOB. I am the expert on zombies (in my family) and research for 1-3 hours every day.
Will I survive, is my question.

Yes, I've heard all the anti-scope arguments out there; I'm just asking, if I wanted to scope, say, a Marlin Model 60, what would be my best option?

I heard this from my friend who's in the army, and it revolutionized my vision of fully automatic weapons.
Did you know that the military advises they only be fired in 3 to 9 round bursts with substantial pauses because sustained automatic fire overheats and quickly melts the barrel. That is why machine gunners in infantry battalions are followed by assistant machine gunners who carry two extra barrels. You see, firing more than a few rounds at a time out a machine gun is not only extremely wasteful, but it can also severely damage part of your gun, and so few people know this.

I feel better knowing this is up.Getting started in pyro is fairly easy and costly.(If you buy it all)Heres what you need.
1.work bench 2.ball mill(this can be made by putting marbles in a old coffee can) 3.mort and pestle 4.paper tubes and shells(trust me make molds and mix wheat past with old news paper) 5.TAPES 6.know what the chemicals do 7.some time on YouTube to learn the easy stuff 8.a good trusted chemical supplier 9.powder spoons in 10th of onces 10.ASK ME ANY QUESTIONS YOU MIGHT HAVE PM THEM TO ME. Also start with the easy stuff and work your way up.

I made a thread a while back about me needing a new gun, and I still do. You see, I'm on a budget, and I need a gun to stockpile ammunition and possibly add some accessories to.
I settled on a Maverick 88, but I haven't actually bought one yet, and I'm worried about the price of shotgun shells. I also love the SKS, but I don't know about the bullets, and I think to get the proper model that I prefer as well as magazines and my first few boxes of 7.62 and everything could get up to $800 when it's all said and done The .22 is a cheap gun with cheap ammuntion, fun and easy to use, but it's quite underpowered. I don't know quite what to get...any other ideas? Suggestions on these three? Once again I'm asking my fellow survivalists for advice.

Okay, so if you have a cool SKS or find a good picture on the internet, show it to me. Come on, I want to see some acsessorized SKS's. Show me the tacticalized rifles; I want to see some really good ideas for the zombie apocalypse. Show me some creative SKS configurations and models and such. There's a pretty good SKS-D on my profile.

In my opinion, developping any form of reliance on firearms is a very bad habit to develop for anyone planning to survive long term in a zombie apocalypse. Regardless of how much ammo you have in store, it won't be long until you run out, and are reduced to either spending most of your time looking for more or using melee. The only acceptable setting to use firearms in my opinion is during the transitional period right after the outbreak, which will be nessesary for you to adapt. Keep in mind bullets are no longer being produced. Each shot you fire is one less in the very finite amound of ammo left.
