You are missing a key piece here: a medical component - speaking for myself - I would want someone with medical training, minimum EMT as part of my group. Than again of course I am a RN so of course I feel this way - everyone should have an RN :)

An important part of being a good leader, is being a good follower; Even as s/he leads the survivors to the hidden island /fortress/tunnels/bunkers/mall, the leader must keep in mind not only the needs, but also, to a lesser extent, the wants of those they are leading. Norma lead her survivors to the imperfect safety of the mall; Kenny hunted the island to kill all the skin jobs there; Anna lead the charge for the sailboat; Mike held them all together through the majority of the siege; CJ held the line during the initial outbreak. Al of them followed someone else at one point, and all these leaders, when their time to step up came, still followed what their flowers needed.

ok i'm bad with names so bare with me and when i say character i mean try to find people like these people below that are listed
the zombie killer girl from house of the dead not the actrist, but the character a pro who has killed these things and will do the honorable thing when it needs to be done by killing her self or any infected mac guyver he can turn anything into a bomb or a way out of a bad problem or make several IED's so you can sleep at night a black man becuase of their ablitliy to run very fast so if the szombies come after slow moving allies he will lead them away from the group without getting killed or biten Anete Berkin her and her husband William burkin made the G-virus in resident evil 2 so if someone is biten they may not need to die if she can make an antidote try to make an equale amount of men and women so to repopulate the world this will also keep moral if not posible find a prostitute RECAP so I would need a soldier, enginer, runner , doctor, prostitute

My group has already been established with several plans, in case one is a no go, on how to group up. We've all been together since we were little and treat each other as brothers and the woman we are all with are all like-minded and have grown to be apart of our non-blood related family. My group is as follows:
Myself: Short, athletic, acrobatic, trained, smart, logical, fast, loyal, moral, and charismatic (I reluctantly say this due to the fact that I don't so much believe so but, my group has stated otherwise). I am the leader of the group and all of the group has already said that they fully trust me in the decisions I make. We've already been in situations (such as group sparring matches or campouts) where the group has tested me and I apparently passed. I am one of the strongest combatants of the group and I have trained most of my life in combat and survival. Gotta stall this for later, got business to take care of in real-life. Will finish the rest of this post soon.

You, Hot Chick, Zombie Bait 1 & 2
This is, of course, the least moral way of setting up a group. Find your girl, and any two people (or more) that you don't mind dying. These two are your shields; On the way to your secure location, these are the ones that are your insurance that you and your girl will make it alive. A note on picking up other survivors: Never let a secure area become unsecure. As much as it sucks, YOU need to survive, and letting more people in increases the chance that stupidity will be your downfall.

first posibility considering im still a kid. my family is at my house. my dad has a plan for armageddon. not zombie armagedon but one where 98% of everybody is dead, not undead.
Second posobility i am by myself somewhere where i dont know anybody for quite a ways. preferably with few people. i would "borrow" a car (preferably a sation wagon), and find someone (hopefully a woman) to come along with me because i dont like being alone. second i would goto a state gaurd armory and get weapons. third i would loot a wherehouse for food. fourth i would get as much gas from an abandoned station. last i would take her to an island in the middle of nowhere with one bridge there untill we die, are rescued, or untill some other event.

Off the top of my head the people I would try to contact to form my group. I got my buddy Edward he served as a marine so combat and weapon knowledge there also battlefield experience. My friend Keith would make a valuable memeber as he works as a paramedic so he can perform fist aid and possably save alot of lives in the group. My wife would because shes almost as into zombies as I am and she is one hell of a shot. Oh and Edward can bring his wife I guess and Keith can bring Leeann. I cant just leave them to die. My brother is full of informationa nd works as a carpenter so hes in he could fortify any locations were in.

for a perfect group, you should have people with different skills but a low number of people.when the z apocalpse happens, people can be a great asset but a danger.what are you gonna do if your squad revolts against you.people can stab you in the back quickly when they are nervous, like in the very beginning of an outbreak.

Its easy to list attributes of what to find in people to share the rest of the end of the world with. Frankly, I think that I would try to find anyone I could. There are limits to this suggest of course. Healthy, well abled people are most desired. There are going to be scared, paniced people every where. Children, the elderly and maybe even a few "special athletes." Anyone is a viable companion because its someone with one more weapon. Someone with one more skill. Without going to indepth in the logistics of transporting, feeding, bedding and entertaining a large group of people, it seems to me that the more people you have (within reason), the better your assets are. There is safety in numbers and while I am in ways openly opposed to a "defensive location", having a place to be, defend, to live and regroup is necessary. In the best case, that location is a mobile one. A convoy. But your going to need drivers for that. Medics, farmers, naturalists, survivalists, gun toting good ol' boys and hell of a lot of ammunition for some of them. Were talking creating a small community of refugee's that are able to fend for themselves and provide for others what they can. This will help YOU to eat or sleep while someone else is on guard and also provide protection from Zed's as well as wild animals such as packs of stray dogs, or raiders and the Anarchists. The Anarchists always ruin everything. If there were say 5 of these "tribes" within a county sized area, you could have more to bring to the "table" than thousands of small bands of survivors. Trading, supplies, re-enforcments, and knowing that your not alone. Say a group of 100 people in a tribe. 20 to 30 are going to know something that you will need to survive weather it be on how to start a garden for fresh foods or where there are supplies that you need. Anyone here know how to remove an appendix or diagnois pnumonia? You need more than a gun.

all of these are very good traits to have in a group but what is you find someone else, another so called "survivor", would you just leave that person to fend for themselves? should you let them in your group or not?
