What will a post Z-Day World be like?
I created this page to post potential theories for what the post-war world would be like. Anything you have to say pertaining to the subject would be greatly appreciated, but any abuse of it and I will inform the mods.

Original-Sin:
I believe that after the initial wave hits one of two things will happen, depending on the zombie type.
-Slow and Stupid (stereotypical zombie): After the initial outbreak, there will be a good possibility that the military will re-act quick enough and snuff out the threat, also; most of humanity knows of these zombies, and will be more knowledgeable of the situation than in the movies. If we do not stop them, and some how they manage to gather vast numbers and start taking over whole continents, then I predict there will be one major survivor colony (and probably many smaller ones). Humanity will start to re-establish themselves until one day some jack-ass makes a mistake and lets all the hundred-thousands of zombies outside the gates in killing us all off.
-Rage (fast and furious): We have a much lower chance of stopping these guys. The military and civilians will find them selves over whelmed and humanity is most certainly doomed. It is possible that a quarantine zone will exist and the zombies will die out. However, if they do not have an 'expiration date' it is only a matter of time till we die off.
Either way, you can find me on a large barge sitting back and sipping margaritas whilst humanity battles for survival.
Richboy33lb:
First, there are 1 of 3 outcomes
byates:
Major population die off, reduction in technology level, return to city-state form of government, zombie population returns to pre-Z-day levels, global warming ends, ice age returns, civilization destroyed.
OK, something a bit more cheerful. From Open Source Ecology a plan to develop a self-contained village. The plan has some problems with out scenario, but it could be adapted and made to work. It would take a small group working ahead of time to make it work best, but it could be developed after.
Andy REDDSON:
We will have so many, other, more important things to worry about; Environmental devastation, destroyed nuclear reactors, homeless and broken families, orphaned children, feral packs and herds of once-domesticated animals, cities and whole counties, burned to the ground…
Such cleanup will be enormous, if indeed it can be fully done at all.
Alicestar:
cleanup????no thanks Andy If your planning a large scale clean up you can get the fuck off my boat because i have no intention of "putting things back to normal" feral packs =food, destroyed nuclear reactors = Andy's job (I ain't doing that shit). as for the homeless and broken families...yeah, ill put some effort into reuniting people because its important but i don't see a grouping of buildings in any area that are in ruins as a priority of any kind. unless they can be stripped for armor or fortification items. and i don't see the environmental devastation you speak of, the fossil fuel use will plummet in days (maybe even hours) the consumption of water and food will plummet, in a since the earth will have cleansed itself of pollution, not created more!!!
ALMostFoul:
In all honesty, there would be no zombie Apocalypse in the US at least. There are 80million gun owners in the USA, not counting the military. that is almost 1 in 3 people who live here. There would be some initial shock, maybe a day or two before every media outlet tells the world to shoot the head. With 80,000,000 gun owners, that is one hell of a reason why zombie Apocalypse will never happen here. Any zombie you see would be a liberal who didn't want to own a gun. Europe would be in deep shit. So would China and India. Large populations with little to no private gun ownership. Zombie food.
McSkullcracken:
Th human population will significantly decrease, and many national governments will not be able to sustain themselves, leading to what byates pointed out, the return of the city-state form of government in areas that still retain a high population. Other parts may be mostly wild with small towns or villages mostly running themselves. Some areas won't recover electricity and/or the Internet for a long time, so life will be similar 1800's with a mesh of modernity thrown in. Outsiders/strangers will be trusted less. Bandits will surely arise as a problem. Some areas will be under military rule, a good thing or a bad thing depending on your point of view and the military running the show.
And there will be environmental problems, mostly from fires that went out of control. Might be flooding due to lack of maintenance on dams and levees. There is also the possibility of nuclear problems related to power-plants and nuclear weapon use. Animal populations will also experience drastic shifts, likely in both directions depending on the region and the human population there.
There will probably be a good amount of just about any post-apocalyptic world you can imagine. Whatever the case, I believe some form of Human, not zombified, will survive, even if it is just small little tribes in S. America, Africa, and Asia.

First, there are 1 of 3 outcomes
- The world still mainly belongs to Zack, and all of the remaining humans are in hiding.
- Most zombies are destroyed, and humans are reclaiming the world
- Very little remains. Besides the odd zombie, occasional survivor, and the remaining animals, nothing really remains.

That we at least topically address ways of addressing the environmental issues we CAN reasonably predict will happen. And with courage in lieu of wisdom to guide me, ¡I'll lead off!
Destroyed nuclear reactors: Burry them in concrete. Not much else you CAN do. At least, not currently. Homeless/broken families: Try to re-unite people with their loved ones, but to do so requires METICULOUS lists created by people who know who they are. Perhaps a DNA databank could assist in this regard. Orphaned children: Well, if there is NO WAY to re-unite them with a family member, they will have to be placed somewhere. Orphanages won’t be able to handle them all. We may simply have to divvy them up and place them with SOMEONE, whether they’re willing or not. Feral packs and herds of once-domesticated animals: That, is what light machineguns are for. But semi-auto mode might be the most pragmatic way to handle them, all things considered. Yes, fif, I’m surte your mommy loved you very much- You should go see her now. Cities and whole counties burned to the ground: Sift through the wreckage as time permits; Recycle what can be salvaged and perhaps burn the rest. |
