Where would you raid?

Ok so well all take about hitting up walmart but lets face it by the time you are able to raid it, it will be in a ruin or worse overrun. So where do u plan to hit for supplies. I just want general ideas, if you want list the reason why you think its a good idea to do so.

Conner Schofill
The Dollar Store, CVS, and small gas stations(preferrably in the middle of nowhere) are the best supply...except that you won't find cartridges there. For ammo, even though it'd be nice, don't raid Bass Pro Shops, or Cabella's. Sure, there's everything you'll ever need there, but there are always people there too, and people could mean the lethargic, smelly, hungry, angry, decomposing bodies we refer to as zombies. A military surplus outlet is good for boots, clothes, knives, etc., and usually you only have to worry about a few WWII/Korean War Veteran Zombies. Time has already slowed them, and I'm pretty sure that, once zombified, 1st Sergeant John McCoy of the 101st won't remember his glasses, or that old story about the Battle of the Buldge. (So you can't distract him by having him reiterate the event.)
Oh, and if you wanna travel long range to, say, a big ranch to be safe, don't forget to steal a four-axel A/C trailer and semi to hold your food(and even your buddies if they want to "chill" in "the other back". In reality, if your team is numbered well enough, you can have one at 40 degrees for food, and another at 60, for people(you can adjust the thermostats). I doubt a zombie will really care about his truck, oh, and don't forget to run him over for the coup de gras.

SuperSoldierRCP:
i plan to hit up the DOLLAR STORE. Now i know your thinking THE DOLLAR STORE WTF are you stupid. Well lets think or a min. They have tons of food, water, parish ables and non, hit fat foods( candy or soda) plus clothing, auto supplies, toys, Seeds for growing and potting plants and almost everything you need to survive for months if rationed. PLUS BESIDES THAT are people going to go to the dollar store NO everyone will hit up Sam, target, walmart, major retails. anyway give your ideas i really want to her them.( if anyone say I'm going to a oil rig I'll throw a cyber punch lol)

Richboy33lb
I would try not to raid other survivors, and if I seriously needed to, I would ask rather than take. I would also avoid places such as Wal-Marts, malls, supermarkets, hospitals, etc., basically any place that obviously has people, probably infected or reanimated inside of it. After a month or so, I'm pretty sure all infected would have died, reanimated, and wandered towards people. All zombies will have walked off or been killed. I would then try to raid an place that looks like it might have anything essential to survival, particularly food, water, guns, ammo, medicine, gas, and people who want to join my group who are not infected.

HeavenlySword: Hahas, gotta see the superpunch. Ok, I would first procure quite a few cans of RAID, it is an mild nerve agent. Then I would create RAID bombs and use it on Wal-Marts or w/e, the gas quickly slaughters everyone there, since i used a ton of it. After a few hours for gas to disperse, I walk in, kill the zombies (there are bound to be 'walkers' people just trying to 'walk off' a bite) and loot the place for everything its worth. For example, .22 LR walmart rifles aren't that powerful, but after the Z apocalypse they will be valuable items, and a nice plus is that they are amazingly quiet, and building a silencer for these is trivial, I'll explain in the DIY section. With my group armed with silenced (although short range and weak) weapons, we can escape to a more fortified, more secure location.

Original-Sin:
Im going to a general store (like the Dollar Store or a Wal-Mart (people will be dead before they have a chance to loot everything, you don't need a store full of goodies, just enough for you and the others in your group) Next is a Oil Rig *BRACES HIS-SELF FOR SUPERSOLDIER's CYBER PUNCH* But seriously. It has EVERYTHING you need for refining all that crude oil, generators, it is off-shore (they may not be able to swim), I can fish, grow food on the cat walks, and I will use one as my main base (there are no sky scrapers for MILES). It is a really good base, if you disagree you just don't have your mind opened enough.

First priority: Attain food and water. I would grab canned food, water bottles, and peanut butter (which has a lot of protein) from any local grocery store. A lot of idiots will probably be going after booze considering this area... Next I would try to raid pawn shops in town for weapons, ammo and survival supplies. At last, I would try to attain as many gasoline containers as possible and siphon fuel from stationary vehicles.

Dooran:
Seriously, don't hit up Walmart. It'll be packed, and the middle of a crowd in an enclosed space is a bad place to be. Especially if you are looking for weapons, Walmart is shit. But anyways, I would personally hit up the hardware store. The one along my chosen fleeing route has enough makeshift weapons within 20 meters of the door to arm probably 100 people, with better suited weapons just slightly farther back into the store. There will probably be fewer people, and it contains any building supplies I may need later on. They also own several smaller transport trucks (similar to Uhaul) to move this stuff. So, I'm armed, with fortification supplies.and the horde is probably getting a strong foothold in the area at this point. Now is the time to get some food. The stores are still going to be packed, although they are probably full of zombies, but there will be the wounded and dead from the trampling and such, and since I am armed, I can get what I want from quick scavenging and an attack on a less likely food supply (not Costco or Walmart) such as the generic bulk food store, or fighting people off at a gas station. Yes, my plan involves attacking other people, but only if they're preventing me from completing my plans. Oh yeah, and gas. Gotta get some gasoline!

Zdaysurvivor:
Ok first I would grab a baseball bat the id go to rite-aid take what they got then head over to low's and grab a bunch of building supplies and probably grab a crowbar or lead pipe then id go siphon gas from some cars take it back to my house and go out and maybe raid some homes i live in an old person street so i could handle anyone there if they wernt there grab canned goods and water take guns and ammo if they had but if they were there id do the same but if they tried to stop me i wouldn't want to but id tie them up or kill em after i got that id take it to my safehouse and then id go steal some guns from target not to popular and the got like 2 or 3 22's btr than nothing then id grab the guns and ammo then id go look for a semi or u-haul to steal i need the keys i cant hotwire so most likely id hijack some poor guy and then id take it back to my safehouse load up everything and drive to the best possible pace i could go this 3 story old brick building its abandoned it has wooden stairs easy destroy then i would get all my stuff outa the truck get it inside then id go to the nearest (don't kill me) wal-mart not for food and crap but for portable generators a must for anybody' then id bring my 5 or 6 generators back to the safehouse and that brick building has a sorta popular coffee shop and id siphon the gas out of the cars parked there to fuel my generators.Id tell you my other stuff to get but id probably bore you but if the other stuff is to the very unpopular camping store about 2 blocks from the building and id take all there survival food and all there portable stoves and water purification tabs and devises.

BigBDave:

2.) Pharmacy for food, meds., soaps, T.P., water, and etc..
3.) Farm Supply for gas cans, generators, hand tools (weapons and work), solar fence chargers ( to charge car batteries ), cloths, and vehicle batteries.
4.) Propane Dealership for propane tanks for cooking and heating.

6.) Shoe Store for a few extra good pair of boots.

DaveBall

7th.gate.of.hell:
walmart: on 2 occasions 1, when you hear that people are getting bit or 2 after most of the people going there have left or gotin eaten.
army surplus stores: lots of stuff needed for survival , sleeping bags, full suits, camo ,boxes of rations, swords, knives, and medical supplies.
discount food stores: stock up quick and cheap.
sporting goods store:have everything from guns and ammo to camping supplies
places to go after most of people are dead...................
car dealership: have tons of cars, and lots of keys that are all 1 safe.(you could crack it open)
bank lots of money$$$$$$ plus its great idea to hide in the safe.
Sacreir:
1) army store (gotta agree with 7th.)
2)junkyard (as a hideout, i would have one of these magnets and stack cars to block the entrance and have a cinderblock (i spelt it right didn't i?) wall with rebars in it behind the stacked cars to stabilize it.
3)pharmacy for sure
4)sporting good store(for guns, fishing supplies,archery supplies, ammo,and maybe a few survivors i find)
5)any food that carries food (gotta eat)
6)get alot of gas
about 2 months into the infection:
1)car dealership (i need a ride)
2)gun store (probably need some ammo)
3)into the city period(random savaging for supplies)

Cjoatey:
I'd raid the local sporting goods store, camping supplies would be useful, and the store in our town has a gun section that is pretty well stocked.

TwoTonMaxx:
If you need to resort to raids, you'll be what I refer to as "The Fighting Dead" You're going to die, but you're struggling with that concept, and you intend to make it hard for death to take you. Unfortunately, successful raiding must be done very early, and in the beginning of an outbreak when it would be most effective, you'll be unlikely to be informed of the epidemic happening. Odds are, you'll discover the undead when they discover you. When you do start raiding, remember that you face three threats, not one. First, and most obvious, the zombies you're preparing to fight. You'll be unprepared for this first fight, because if you were really prepared, you wouldn't need to raid. Second, law enforcement. They'll be overwhelmed by the undead, and as is human nature, they'll compensate by exerting control over the things they can more easily handle. If you were a street cop, would you rather deal with a horde of undead, or a bunch of rioters at Walmart? The choice is easy in my opinion. The third threat is the other rioters. Be prepared to fight for that gun, and for that food. Others will be just as desperate, and contrary to what you might think, that black belt in Judo won't be the ultimate protection against a group of large angry men who want you to give them your canned fruit.
In conclusion, raid BEFORE the zombie outbreak. Like me.

KaikelX:
Nowhere.
1. I am too much of a nice guy.
2.Most people will be hitting stores and killing each other off and getting eaten.
3.Zombies will be going after the huge mobs running in panic. Not me, the guy hunkering down preparing improvised weapons.
4.If the zeds are repelled, then you are in SERIOUS shit by the police, national guard, and military. Think they're gonna be kind to looters? Think again.
5.I won't need to raid. I have all I'll ever get at my house, and I won't live anyways. Better pile up improvised weapons, write my last words into a journal, and save the equipment for those who will live to use it.

Comonsense:
if i have enough people and it really is the last stand for humanity then
1. supermarkets if empty or only a few zeds
2. cars (fuel and other junk)
3. if early enough ill buy a gun from the person at the gun store if to late ill probably be desperate and would take a couple and some ammo
4. a army surpluss store if neccisary (you know military goods are awsome)

big_jimbo6969:

1. uhaul to steal a big box truck to take everything in
2. sporting goods store( Weapons, and pretty much all of them have a survival section)
3. Military/law enforcement surplus (Whatever survival gear i couldn't get at sporting goods store)
4. GNC (nobody thinks about it but you can get a different supplement for anything that you need out of food)
5. dollar store (for easier to carry non-perishables)

The_Last_Skater
For me this is easy ;), i have a store that is a 2 minute walk from my house, noone ever goes there its not abandoned but it has about 0 buisness soo its always stocked, luckily it has a stock of knives and (dont get jealous) 5 sharpened full size katanas hanging on the wall.. and lastly they have 5 crates (huge!!) full of canned foods about 400 cans per crate. Enough said =] and for all u who really want to go there sorry its a local buisness called barnes bargains. XD

Original-Sin there are no refining capabilities on an oil rig. They pump the crude out of the ground and send it ashore to be refined.

If you are short of supplies after the main event has well passed (Z-day+5 or so), try hitting up a fire station. canned food, fire engines, usualy disel pump, a generator, radios, melee weapons, medical supplies, an ambulance(if you're lucky or you wanted it) Books, kitchen supplies, clothes, bottled water (or water purifyers), batteries, disel (siphon from the tanks in the engines if no pumps are running), Hoses (be creative), water (all engines and tankers have a supply), maps, climbing gear (rescue vehicles), and other things dependant on location. (ie. clean clothes at stations men live in, cold weather gear where it's cold, etc.)
