This plan is written WITHOUT taking into account zombie reactions. The things in this plan are simply steps. I understand that circumstances may make some of these steps hard to accomplish, but in a zombie outbreak, you just have to MAKE IT HAPPEN. I will try to write it simple, making like a to-do list rather than explaining each in detail. If you found this site, you probably have enough sense to make this happen. This plan can also be easily adapted to different situations:
First, at the FIRST CREDIBLE SIGN of a large scale zombie attack, get every friend and loved one you can and act IMMEDIATELY. Assume that the outbreak has already reached an unstoppable level. The first few steps are CRITICAL, but easy if you do it fast enough. This is written based on me being able to get a group of over 20 to go with me. Here's is the tips for the group gathering BEFORE you get to shelter:
-If you get your friends and family, most likely you will have a pretty equal balance of male to female. If there are some young kids, that's OK because you will act fast enough for everyone to get to safety without risking much. In the early stages, you may have time for family or friends to get to you from out of state. This is good because it will give you time to see how bad the situation will get via news. If it escalates far too rapidly, get to and have your distant friends/family get to you later if they can.
Now for the shelter tips:
-Have a building already picked out.
-Make it a tall one with many stories, but not a gigantic skyscraper. Maybe the height of Wal-Mart or something similar.
-Make sure it's abandoned, but not to a point where it's no longer structurally sound.
-Make sure the ONLY WAY UP is by ladder on the side of the building. No rooftop entrances accessible from the floor below.
-Make sure it has enough room for plenty of people up there
Now for the initial bed-down (this is assuming you're dealing with slow zombies and you have your group of about 20):
-Act quickly so that there aren't many zombies wandering around yet, but don't act so fast that police in helicopters pay more attention to a large group on a building than zombies wandering the streets.
-Get them up there as quickly as possible. The zombies will not be able to get to them so the first main thing is to get them to safety
Immediate actions:
-Once you have your people up on the building, assemble a team of about 5 of your most trusted and able bodied people. I would take my 2 brothers and 3 of my friends. This gives you a group of 6. They are your closest and most trusted. They will be your "Alpha team".
-Make sure there are no zombies at the bottom of the ladder.
-Head down and go to your house. Check the news and gather every supply you can and put it in your car or truck. Get all your food, get water, melee weapons, firearms, toiletries, etc...also get some rope or something so you can get the items on the roof.
-Next will require money assuming the zombie outbreak HAS NOT reached a level where all control is lost. If it has, you probably won't have to use this step. Get as many big brown or grey colored tarps as you can. You will use these to disguise yourself if police use helicopter patrols. The object is to make it look like the tarp is part of the roof so if copters fly over they won't get susicious. This is NOT a mandatory step, but I would try it just in case the police don't want you up on the building.
-Take your supplies to the roof.
-Now assuming the outbreak has not reached an extreme level and it's still fairly safe to move around town, perform your news check every day with your Alpha team, or just take a radio on the roof and monitor. If the situation gets to the point that it's out of the control of the government, the real plan will take effect.
Main plan:
-Now that the zombie attack is in full force, you will need supplies fast before it gets too bad. Take Alpha team and arm them with the melee weapons you got from the first supply run. Hopefully you got any firearms you had in your house also.
-Once safe, go down the ladder and take your biggest vehicle to a pawn shop or someplace with weapons. If the outbreak is bad enough, the police won't even bother with break ins.
-Upon arrival at the paw shop, clear the area of zombies. If you pull up on a place with too many, FIND A NEW PLACE. Keep searching until you find an easy target.
-Break in strategically and CLEAR THE ENTIRE STORE. Make sure the place is safe so you can concentrate on looting. Then, while 3 of your team looks out for zombies, you and the other 2 steal EVERY WEAPON THEY HAVE. Firearms, melee weapons, swords, knives, ammo, holsters, everything. Fill your vehicle up.
-Go back to the shelter. If there's still daylight and you need it, go find some supplies like food and water.
Now that you're heavily armed, divide your group up into teams
-Alpha-Your main task force. they will make most supply runs. You will attend every supply run.
-Bravo- Should be composed of people who formally had engineering jobs. They will be in charge of fortifying the building at a later date.
-Charlie- Shelter lookouts. They will use the new firearms to guard the roof. The zombies probably won't even know you're up there so don't bother having them shoot every zombie they see. They will mainly be used to cover your Alpha team as it makes the dangerous exits off the ladder to go on missions.
-Delta- Same role as Charlie
Now that you have firearms and some food, you will now start conducting long term survival missions. Deploy AND accompany Alpha on missions for more supplies. ALWAYS have every guard and especially Alpha team armed with AT LEAST an assault rifle or shotgun, AND a melee weapon. I am about to tell you how to do combat with the zombies and you will need both weapon classes. Also, don't get anything the first couple of days but EVERY FIREARM AND AMMO you can and food if you come across it. Once you're properly armed you will be able to conduct food supply runs easier.
How to take supplies and zombie combat:
-Arrive at store in PREFERABLY 2 VEHICLES . Try to pick smaller stores that zombies won't be as dense around. If the place looks crowded, skip it.
-Once at the scene, park you vehicles in a strategic location where there are more zombies in front of you than behind you with plenty of open space. get out and on top of your vehicles.
-Let's say there are over 50 zombies in the parking lot blocking the store. Divide the horde up into Areas of Responsibility. Form your team up in a line side by side and give the left-most guy the left-most group of zombies and so on.
-Tell each team member to try and take out 10 zombies starting with the closest and working back. If each can hit their targets, that's an easy 60 zombies dead.
-Now that each member has killed about 10, their numbers should be greatly diminished. If not, repeat the process.
-Let's say you cut their numbers down to 7 zombies. You've used 2 clips of ammo. You had 5 to begin with ,but you don;t want to waste ammo. Assign a remaining zombie to a team member. Get off the vehicles and use your melee weapons to kill them. After they are dead there is 1 more left. Kill it however.
-Now breach the store.
-Line up against the wall with the first 3 guys (you in front) watching the foward area and the rear 3 watching the back. When it's safe, bust the door or window in hwoever you can and enter with you going in first and to the right, weapons drawn. IMMEDIATELY AS YOU ENTER have the next guy come in and take the left, then the third take the center. The rear 3 men will enter and watch the rear of the formation. This may be similar to a military strike, but it's simplified to fit zombie situations.
-Use this method to CLEAR THE ENTIRE BUILDING, then use 3 men to loot and 3 to guard at all times. Take everything you could possibly need.
This can be used to loot pretty much whatever store. Take everything. it should be fairly easy because while everyone else was barricading themselves in their homes, you already had your group up high and were already armed. Now all you have to do is take the right moments to make your moves. Do these runs everyday. Try to pick areas not as populated. Hit up pawn shops for weapons, small grocery stores for food.
this is just a quick simple plan to go by, but you can adapt it to your own however you need to. Good luck!
