-- White76Knight --
Name: Joshua H
ZSDW Rank: Member
Aliases: White Knight, Galahad, Mac Thamhais (pronounced McTavish)
Age: Born December, 1976
Location: Somewhere within the Halifax Regional Municipality, Province of Nova Scotia, Canada
Height: 5 ft 10 (barefoot)
Weight: 230 lbs.
Body Type: Average, at least average for North America, according to the statistics.
Identifying Marks: Scar approximately one inch above right eyebrow. Tattoo of a Cross and a Two-Headed Dragon

a a on the outside of left shoulder.
Blood Type: Currently "Unknown", but I will be getting blood work done to determine this soon.
Occupation: Apprentice Welder, but most recently employed as a Personal Attendant aiding the elderly or disabled.

Post Z-Day Identification: After The SHTF, I will be wearing a set of Dog Tags that will include a Medic Alert Symbol and pertinent medical information on the front, and my Name, Social Insurance Number, Religious Preference, Blood Type and ZSDW User Name on the back. I will likely
also be wearing a ZSDW Shirt. Thus, if any of my fellow ZSDW Members should happen across me in an injured or unconscious state, they would at least be able to identify me and hopefully provide proper medical treatment or, if I have fallen and they should happen across my remains, return me to my loved ones. Should this not be possible, then let the ZSDW at least know me as one of their own, and ensure a respectful cremation or proper burial. If it is feasible, thereafter, to do so, I would also appreciate it were my Dog Tags returned to my loved ones in my stead so that they might know what has become of me.

QUESTIONNAIRE
  • Why did you join the ZSDW?: While I think it no more than semi-plausible that actual zombies, or reasonable facsimiles thereof, could ever bring about the end of civilization, they do serve well as a metaphor for disasters of more likely feasibility. It never hurts to stay prepared, and this site looked like an excellent way to do so; a bit less militant and hardcore (read also as Anti-Gubbermint) than most other survival sites, while still maintaining a well versed membership of intelligent and highly knowledgeable people, all of whom are willing to share good advice. Besides, if ZoMB1EZ ever DO come, this site has all the best Bad-@ssed mothers on the block.

  • What is your survival philosophy?: Stay Flexible. No matter how well you plan, plans can go awry. Be ready for anything.

  • What is the most valuable survival tool?: Knowledge. All the tools and resources in the world can't help you if you don't know how to use them

  • What skills do you possess?:
    Experience - Military:
Very brief term in the Royal Canadian Army Cadets (2954 Barachois)
Other than that admittedly none, but General Military knowledge (Including tactics and training, equipment and
a a firearms, etc) have long been an area of ongoing study for me, and I believe that I am able to converse with
a a reasonable knowledge, at least from a non-serviceman point of view, on these topics.

    Experience/Training - Personal:

I have been a big game hunter for 12 plus years.
I have, at one time or another, handled and fired rifles, handguns and shotguns.
I have rudimentary self taught knowledge of firearms theory and ballistics.
I have studied Wilderness and arctic survival training, but I've never had opportunity, nor fortunately immediate
a a need, to put those studies to the test.
I am First Aid and CPR qualified, and I have spent a number of years working, off and on, in the medical field as
a a a Personal Care Attendant so, while I can not perform a surgery, I can provide the proper care needed by a
    a a patient, post-surgery.
I have been involved in a medieval reenactment group for many years and, while I do not consider myself to be a a an expert, I do possess a very good working knowledge of how warfare was undertaken in the days before a a a firearms and fighter jets. Given the proper material, I would be able to build fortifications, siege engines and a a other articles of war from the period.
I own an assortment of swords, knives, daggers and axes, most of which I built myself.
Given access to the proper materials, I can make real custom tailored chain maille armor, and leather or plate a a a armors as well.
I have never reloaded ammunition, but I know the means by which it is done (mainly from a variety of books on
a a the subject) and intend to learn the process in greater detail.
I have a rudimentary knowledge of improvised explosives and incendiaries, which I've actually tested, and they
a a have worked just fine, so I'm confident that I can actually make some of the simpler ones, as long as I have
a a access to the proper materials.
I dabble as an artist (painting and drawing, mostly) which could be useful when gathering Intelligence on enemy
a a positions, drawing plans for new constructions, etc.
I have survived two natural disasters (one of them a hurricane that left our entire neighborhood and nearly all of
a a the surrounding city without power for more than two weeks) and one attempted mugging, and I am able to
a a remain calm in a crisis and get done what needs to be done.
I am a trained apprentice welder (Stick, MiG, TiG and Oxy Fuel).

    Experience/Training - Not Yet Acquired:
This section contains courses of training (mostly related to combat or wilderness and urban survival) that will be advantageous in a Post Z-Day situation. This is knowledge that I do not yet possess, but would like to attain at some future point, to better prepare myself and my family with the skills that will be necessary while living through an initial outbreak and for our continued existence after the SHTF. I will be updating this section on an ongoing basis with links and other information that have been gleaned off of this site and elsewhere.

  • How prepared do you consider yourself?: Somewhere between Average and Fairly Well, but slowly making my way towards Prepared for Hell.

  • What is your greatest survival asset?: I consider myself to be very Genre Savvy. I've watched all of the best Zombie movies, as far as I know, and if the Zeds ever do show up I'll know just how to handle them... Providing that they're anything like the ones in the movies, that is. They might not be, but hey, after its all said and done a guys gotta start somewhere, right?
