ZOMBIE ENCOUNTER REACTION TRAININGTHE PURPOSE OF THIS MANUAL IS TO PROVIDE SUGGESTIONS FOR THE TRAINING MODULES AND DRILLS USED BY A GROUP TO PREPARE FOR ZOMBIE ENCOUNTERS. SUCCESSFUL EXECUTION OF THIS MANUAL WILL BE ACCOMPLISHED USING VARIOUS ROLEPLAYING SCENARIOS, REACTION DRILLS AND GUIDED DISCUSSION. [Before I start, I would encourage any infantry/operators to correct me if there is a better way. I am not a trigger man, so I may be leaving things out.]
Each "Module" will be designed with specific goals in mind. For example, Module 1: Contract Drill is intended to improve communication between team members, as well as build aggression, alertness, reaction time and speed-up decision making. The drills are not "Pass or Fail;" meaning there is no right or wrong answer. Instead, instructors will conduct guided discussions after each session to give feedback on the training on an individual and team basis.
Some modules may need to be repeated for best results. The entire program should be trained regularly, with all of the modules in rotation. Instructors should design new and unique scenarios to keep the modules fresh, and increase the level of difficulty when appropriate.
LEGEND:
Throughout the manual, you will see some of the following terms:
Roleplayers - refers to anyone participating in a scenario as someone other than him/herself. Examples: wounded survivor, zombie, dead body, etc
ZOPFOR - Zombie Opposition Force. Roleplayers who are simulating zombies.
Participants - The team members conducting the training, or those who are playing themselves.
Players - same as participants.
Protective Equipment - For our purposes, this means sparring gear, red man suit, helmet, shoulder pads, shin guards, etc. Something to protect the body against physical abuse,.
Melee weapons - For safety purposes, melee weapons should be simulated. Nerf/wiffle bats, kendo sticks instead of swords, and light melee weapons such as broomsticks, bamboo, foam, etc.
Ranged Weapons - for training purposes, ranged weapons will ALWAYS be UNLOADED. There will be no exceptions in this manual.
