Zombie Hunters & Foragers

attl atllWhat do you think should be in a zombie hunter or forager's bag?

For the lone hunter: any hunter should obviously be carrying some sort of long range weapon. The actual weapon depends on availability and training. An ideal weapon would be a bolt action rifle such as the Model 980S. It is a .22 caliber, has a 7 shot clip, and weighs only 6 lbs. Along with this should go enough ammo for you to down 30 zeds (then double it). A side arm and/or blade should go along with it, in case you are caught by surprise. In your pack should be fire making implements (2 ways), a map of the area, two days of food and water, a basic tool and medical set, entrenching tool, explosive devices, 300' 550 lb tensile strength rope with tie-offs, x2 x8 x32 binoculars (if you have no scope), a 2-way radio, and a signaling device.

Foragers should be accompanied at all times by hunters (zombie or animal). They should have on them a large pack (capable of carrying up to 40 lbs), a knife or blade, two days of water and food, binoculars, a 2-way radio, a multi tool, a visual manual of what can and can't be eaten, and 50' twine

In every group, there should be at least 1 zombie hunter to every 5 gatherers. The zombie hunter may be swapped for an animal hunter.

BOLO and Throwing Sticks

A couple of simple weapons widely used the world over. A throwing stick is just a well balanced stick heavy enough to knock down the target. With practice a rabbit of similar size target is doable. With practice a heavy one will crush a man's skull.

A bolo is a cord or cords with weights at the ends. A single cord with two weights would be easy to make in the field and could be used to take down, or at least slow down game. A weighted net could be used for birds and small game. Wonder how a zed would take to a bolo around his arms and legs?

Another good throwing or hitting stick is the Irish blackthorn cane or shillelaghs.you can get them on cold steel.com.they have a good range and have small lumps on the sides which make it even more painful. they would definitely brake a human skull. They could also double as walking sticks and canes.

This is for those who have an area to defend and a gathering supplies or are trying to expand their area.

So far the big thing you need to worry about is weight, think of how long your going to be away for shelter- should be no longer than a couple of days - supply yourself with two 1 quart canteens and Coast Guard survival food ( one it's small, and two its light). Next find a tactical vest- preferably not M.O.L.L.E.- outfit it with a holster, canteen pouches, a buttpack ( a small bag that connects to the belt of the harness) , and a medkit. All of this can be found at a Surplus Store. Once you have that, find an ALAS pack ( the pouches should be adequite for holding anything you find), a .22 caliber pistol, and a 12 gauge shotgun ( with a bandoleer sling, side-saddle, and preferably a collapsing stock- this will reduce the weight dramatically). find two bricks of the .22 ammo ( contain 550 rounds) , rifled slugs and shot shells for the shotgun.

*remember the fights are going to be close quarters and you want fire power incase your not the only party in the area*

Next gather a party of four others (that can hold their own), outfit them the same as you and head out, you should not be gone more than two days or be considered dead.

looked into the Model 980S looks like a very decent rifle. Why not go with a Ruger 10/22? very light little carbine loads and loads of options for it and its semi-auto rather than a bolt action. Ive also seen clips upwards around 50 rounds though you cant get more than a 10 clip here in California. I played with a 10/22 last week and was impressed with it. never jammed after I put over 1.500 rounds through it and was just dead on every shot.

Could you use a AR-15 instead of a .22, cause I don't wanna be changing my ammo between a .223 for a pistol and a .22 LR. Cause one time I'm gonna mess up and get blown up.
