The best bait is living humans use a child or a small person and let them scream thier heads off to atract the zombies
place a small child in a cage or hung upside down from a tree when the zombies come in to eat the ground beneath is to weak to hold them a pit is dug with pungy sticks to penatrate the bodies of the zombies bamboo works the best the whole should be atleast 10' deep or over an average mans maximum reach to prevent them from coming out a whole also there should be a wench so the child can escape from the zombies

But it may not work once the zombie has actually seen you. Perhaps to cover your tracks and lead them away from the direction you are going if you know they are in the area.
