Zombie Film Discussion:
Ice_Rose: The Last Man on Earth is a classic starring Vincent Price. Price lives in a post apocalyptic world that has been taken over by zombie-like vampires, hunting them and gathering supplies by day, and hiding in his boarded up house by night. The bacterium that causes the vampires is airborne, so Price is immune, not just really good at survival, and may well be the only person that is not a vampire.
After three years of living alone, he finds another survivor named Ruth, and brings her back to his house. Later that night, he finds Ruth injecting herself with something, and finds out she’s infected. She takes a drug that keeps the vampire bacteria from eating her blood and reproducing, which allows her to be outside during the day (for short periods of time) and exhibit human characteristics.
Ruth reveals that there is a society of people like her, and that they view Price as the humans viewed vampires. She also reveals that they are going to kill Price, and that she was sent to stop him from resisting. After this, she faints due to skipping an injection. Price injects her with some of his blood, and when she wakes up they do a blood test and find out she’s cured.
Men from the society Ruth talked about arrive at Price’s house and chase him to the church his wife is interred under. After a fight, in which Price kills several of the men, the rest corner him and kill him with a spear.
While this film is not about zombies specifically, it does have some good pointers about living in a post apocalyptic world. Plus, you know, it has Vincent Price in it. That's two reasons to watch it.
Maricely: You must all watch Dead and Breakfast! It's a zombie comedy and it's great. If you like country music you'll like it even more because the soundtrack is awesome! Over.
