aerowolf's survival plan
--- view more survival plans -----
my user name is aerowolf but my handle on the radio is bigbro
and this is the my Complete (by complete i mean total, EVERYTHING) plan.
(if its in parenthesis then its either a side note, a thought i had at the moment, or something i thought can apply to most people)
My plan:
PART ONE: Your paranoid! A.K.A.:beforenot many people include this for a zombie plan, but i am going to tell you what i AM doing right now to prepare for a zombie attack right now whenever i go somewhere and before bed i read something that will teach useful survival tips, skills, and overall knowledge. For example if i have to wait in line (or wait for anything really) i pull out a copy of the boy scout handbook. its kind of cheesy but it does teach you some useful stuff such as; knot tying, lashing, puppetry (useful for keeping you sane and probably the most hilarious thing to do with a zombie) hiking, how to start fire without matches or lighters, first aid, etc. etc. of course what most people make the mistake of thinking is that if you read it you know how to do it. if you don't try it at least once or twice then the knowledge will fail you when you really need it. the next book on my list is "the zombie survival guide" by (i feel as if stating this isn't necessary but what the hell) Max Brooks.
Now other then this i am preparing a BOB (bug out bag)for when Zack (another name for zombies) hits. (anyone think its ironic that right now I'm listening to a song called "zombie nation"? and yes, its on shuffle, on a play list of over 149 songs)
at the moment my BOB consists of:
-REALLY DURABLE garbage bags x4 (you never know when you need to carry things)
-flashlight x1
-Albuteral +inhaler (asthma medication BTW if you have asthma like me or another condition which requires attention in the form of pills then you should stock up AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE) x3
-a different scout book
-swiss army knife x1 (a knife not for killing zombies but for cutting things. i suggest you familiarize yourself with it before you have to use it.)
-crank lantern/siren/am FM radio x1
(going to include ASAP)
-(be contained in) A UTG special ops backpack (link here)
-canned soup x20 (try and get variety so you can 1) not be bored with flavor and 2) lessen your chances of dieing from a deficiency.)
-a 9mm pistol (Same thing with the Swiss army knife FAMILIARIZE BEFORE THEY RISE!!)
-ammunition x200 (i have a lot more but you can never have enough! unless you have to carry it around like i would.)
-the zombie survival guide (has a lot of useful ideas)
-southern California's edible plants (attention survivors, i live in SANTA BARBARA!)
-a metal bat and/or crowbar (I'm not sure if we have a crowbar which is why i put this in "going to include")
-a water purifier(for obvious reasons)
-Complete vitamins (useful for when you are short on food or have a lot of only one thing)
-several other books. on survival and for entertainment
-a deck of cards
-a waterproof sleeping bag
-canteen x2
-an electric stove('cause the smell of gas might attract zombies)
-a crank generator (gas ones are loud, and require fuel, much like chainsaws.)
-CD player and ipod
-rechargeable batteries x16
-my favorite Cd's
-laptop /w recharger
-maps / compass (ALWAYS IMPORTANT!!!!)
-wild ingredient cookbook (you can't loot abandoned stores forever...
-"traps for dummies"
-camp shovel (compact, can be used as a make-shift weapon, if sharpened probably the closest thing to a lobotomizer you can get.)
-cell phone + recharger that must work with crank generators took out everything except
-walkie talkies x4 (7 mile range, up to 12 channels)
-First aid kit (gauze, rubbing alcohol, band-aids, pain killers, other such stuff)
recently my dad, since he obviously like invading my privacy, went through my BOB bag and took everything except my inhaler, claiming it was his.
despite the fact that almost all of it had my name on it.
sometimes it sucks to have a dad with a crack addiction and alsheimers. and that is just going senile.
I know that's a lot of stuff on the "to acquire" list for my BOB but its a work in progress...
by the way if you have any suggestions please add them on as long as they are REAL suggestions of something realistic. don't put "silenced MP5" on there as fully automatic weapons are banned here. and i have no way of getting one anyway. i also know that that is A LOT of stuff to carry but I'm strong, and I'll have help, which brings me too...
PART TWO: AN ABUNDANCE OF ZACK!!! A.K.A.: during
(just assume that this is an indefinite class 4 invasion)
I have two plans really, one for if it hits when I'm at school and one for if it hits when I'm at home. I'll only do my home plan because not all of you go to school so i think people will benefit more
from that plan then the school plan. I'll probably put up my school plan later because its more thorough, as I have several weapon resources that i will literally only have to walk across the street for AND the place where it is has stairs which (provided they have a crowbar...) I can destroy. I don't think they have a ladder though, which may be a problem. (anyone got any idea's?)
Section I.
First off i would probably find out only when Zack is knocking on my front door or a friend calls me, because i don't watch the news that often. my house would be a pretty sturdy "first wave" safe house, but after that i don't think I would stay there. My house is very weirdly built, the basement is on the first floor and the front door is on the second but still at ground level and the back door opens up to a field. we are built into a slope so that's probably why. our stairs have a door at the top (this is INSIDE the house) but they are easily destroyable. so first off i would try and barricade/fortify my house and gather all the things i would take with me in a secret place that my family can't find, (to be explained as i go along) which would be followed by me trying to fill up every water container i could leaving roughly 3/5's of it around the house and stashing the 2/5 with the rest of my stuff in a hiding place. i would then proceed to call a few of my friends by cell phone, assuming that they still work, and figure out where they are and what their situation is, such as:
-Red: out in an unprotected place with no weapons or supplies, ALONE
-Black: in an at least slightly barricaded place with either improvised weapons or some food and other supplies
-white: in an at least slightly barricaded place with BOTH improvised weapons AND some food+supplies
-Blue: on the move with weapons and food to a safer location
-green: In a heavily barricaded place with large food stocks and guns, ammo
-gray: means i couldn't get a hold of them
-orange: there in a designated government safety zone (provided that the government is still functioning properly, and that bush doesn't take more than two or three weeks to notice that the dead are coming back to life)
-purple: bitten
-yellow: unaware of the zombies
followed by how many people you have with you. for example i would be white 2 or white 3 if my brother was there along with my dad
the reason i would hide my BOB and some food/water from my family is that my dad... if i couldn't convince him to come with me id have to leave him. and i don't know if he would let me take some stuff that i need to survive so i would set it up before hand so i had my stuff in either a car or on a bike. hopefully a car, but my brother is a tow truck driver so we change car's all the time.
But, I'm getting ahead of myself. I'll assume that i can't convince my dad so i would stay for a day, try and convince him again and then split in a car.
(to be continued)

What if all the mobile and landline networks collapse under the strain of tens of millions of people trying to call their loved ones at the same time?
You won't be able to contact your friends. Would you risk leaving your house to find them, or would you just concentrate on getting your family somewhere fortified? |
