The Plan / RVE:
As soon as I or any of the people in my group become aware of the zombies, we will meet up, gather supplies, weapons, radio equipment and anything else we will need. Whilst doing this, we will also endeavour to rescue certain people. As soon as we have everything we need, we will leave the island by sea, going to England, looking for support. If England is also overrun, we will then head to France, to see what the situation is there. If they are also overrun, then we will head back to Herm, radioing in to the extraction points we have set up on Guernsey, to let them know that we will be back shortly. We will then clear Herm, extract the survivors and decide what to do next, as the situation dictates.
For those who are not yet in personal contact with my group, three Rendezvous and Extraction Locations will be set up at Fort Doyle, Castle Cornet and Jerbourg Lighthouse. Link: Channel Islands
1) Location / Supplies:
For a while at least, we will be using Herm as our base. Herm is lightly populated, with approximately 100 people living there, and we will be able to use their food, water and fuel whilst we set ourselves up there. Herm has a few smallholdings that we will attempt to run, and has several old granite quarries, now used as reservoirs for our water. It also has its own small-scale generator, which we will use to power essential items.
There are three other islands which we may attempt to 'colonize', for want of a better word. Jethou and Brecqhou are both quite small, and house one rich family each, however, they could probably house at least fifty or so survivors. Sark is slightly larger than Herm, and has much the same facilities, albeit a smaller population. Jethou is almost connected to Herm, and Brecqhou not more than a mile from Sark, so these two smaller islands would depend upon their larger neighbour for supplies, but would not be totally dependant.
2) Fortification:
As our base is an island, with a deep-water sea-trench dividing it from Guernsey, there is almost no conceivable way in which any zombie could attack in great enough number to provide a threat to us. If such an event were to occur, we would evacuate the island or move people away from the point of landing, depending upon the severity of the incident. We would then contain and neutralize the threat as quickly and cleanly as possible.
In the event of any new people arriving by boat, we would send out a RIB with the section on call for rapid response, to reconnoitre the intentions and other information of the boat's crew. If they turned out to be friendly, then we would go through our standard procedures. If they were hostile, we would either just kill the crew there, and recover the boat, or we would try to destroy the boat with everything we had. We would assemble at the landing point, and open fire with whatever we had, keeping the attackers pinned down until they either retreated, surrendered, or died.
If they arrived by aircraft, then we would attempt to contact it over the radio, but all other procedures would be the same, although if they had an overwhelming advantage in firepower, we would pull back into the mines and wait for them to land or leave.
As Herm is relatively small, then we would set up two OPs, one on the common to the north, and a command centre on the plateau to the south. From these two points, we could have observations over the entire island, and advance warning of any attack.
3) Initial Party:I have set up a 'platoon' of friends that I think would be useful in a zombie apocalypse, organized into four 'sections', on the basis of five to a regular, civillian, vehicle, and under myself as platoon commander. There are also a few HVIs that we will attempt to extract. Whilst the people in this platoon do not have any outstanding talent in areas, I believe that they can fight, which will be the most important thing initially. After that, most of them are resourceful and applicable, and will in all probability be able to turn to the more domestic aspects of survival with no great difficulty.

4) Transportation:
Each of our section commanders and 2ICs can drive, and two of them can hot-wire, as well as I. One of our first priorities will be to gain transport. We will take four cars, one for each section, but we will only use these until we reach the police station, where we will trade them for police vans and cars. After that, we will take boats off the island, and use whatever we can find to get around, but one can walk around Herm in a couple of hours, so transport is not really necessary, beyond transporting heavy equipment.
5) Communication:
We will take PRC-351's and -340's from the local Cadet armouries, which operate on military frequencies, and have very long range, thousands of miles. We may also set up an expeditionary force to try to find other survivors on the British and European mainlands.

7) Raiding / Scavenging Plans:
We will take a few months' worth of supplies in military ration packs and also from the Co-Operative Store at our exfiltration point, but our base should be self-sufficient. However, if we have enough people to run a military sector, then we will organize fighting patrols out to the British and European mainlands. The first few expeditions will be mostly to raid the now-abandoned bases, for vehicles mainly, but also any other kit that could be useful to us. We may set up bases on the mainland, and use those as our starting-points for expeditions, but most of our search for survivors will be through the radios, in the lack of any properly safe transport, i.e. armoured vehicles and aircraft.
8) Evacuation:
In the event of a large-scale attack, that we are unable to repel, then we will attempt to hold off the enemy for as long as was possible, whilst all civillians were loaded into boats or aircraft and taken to safety. The military would then evacuate. We would pull back to the other islands, or, if there was no safe place for us, then we would evacuate to Normandy, to a position that our previous expeditions had told us was relatively safe. We would set up a harbour area there, with all efforts going towards building a zombie-proof wall, or at least barricades to slow them. We would then assess our next option.

1. Why do you think that the native populations would let you take over THEIR island(s)? They would probably resist.
2. How do you expect to get all these weapons? 3. Do any of your friends have ANY experience in agriculture or in Farming? 4. By the Time you get to these bases, they will A be infested with zombies or they will be empty. 5. Again any experience at sea? Any ocean experience?
