Preparation

For those who are not used to seeing the dead:
Search the web for faces of death to get used to some of the gruesome faces that you may see in an undead world.

Toomin:
While I can see how perhaps desensitizing yourself to images of gore and death could help you in the impeding struggle against the undead. I personally feel it is imperative to hold onto as much sanity and humanity as possible to actually make it through the struggle. If we lose ourselves in the fight to survive against the mass of living dead what will we have actually won once it's all over? If we cannot keep hold of our humanity then what kind of a life will we be living once the outbreak is over? What kind of world would we be bringing the next generations into? Would it be one of victory, or one of broken people who are full of apathy over death?
I'm not saying that preparation isn't important, but the kind mentioned here isn't any kind I'll be taking part in. I for one hope I never get used to the face of death.

In my belief "sanity" and "humanity" are two very separate things. Sanity is how you are socially judged and how you act around others. Without others you won't be insane because there will be no baseline, no others to compare yourself too. As a suggestion I would actually go crazy and shout, cry, jump, run, and go do things I felt may have been strange to do before. Humanity is judged also by how you treat others. It's what separates us from the animals. It's our emotions and feeling of sadness that separates us. We bury our dead, We give gifts to one another, we work together to form a community far greater than before. Kinda like this Wiki.

Pictures of dead people wont help. Unless you have experienced the real thing in person, you can't understand the blood, parts splattered, and the smells. Real dead bodies are not like people at the funeral home! I hope those of you who haven't had the experience don't.

We need to remain human, if we are desensitised too much then we will be apathetic and may become zombies on the emotional level and may soon feel that it is ok to eat our dead because they are meat and we will be hungry. We dont want to be dead on the inside.
