This is my latest creation.
The picture here is a jacked up version of a melee weapon anyone could make.
What you need:
1) 18" segment of 1" in dia. black pipe.
2) 1" dia. pipe T.
3) 1" pipe cap.
4) 2 1" pipe plugs.
With an investment of $13 at Home Depot (I built mine with parts I found in my garage) you've got a serviceable melee weapon that you could put together in a minute. Seriously if you can un-screw a jar of peanut butter you can make one of these.
To make my model I drilled a hole in the end cap and added a eye bolt. Instead of a bull plug on the back side of my T I added a 1" to 1/4" reducer and added a 1/4" bolt and filed it down to a point. Then I shot it with some good quaility olive drab paint and added a paracord grip.
The advantage of this weapon is that its hollow so you can fill it with survival gear. I added a 3" folder Gerber knife, a mini lighter, an assortment of zip ties and a mini flashlight.
Other options? Unscrew the cap and one of the plugs and fill it halfway with sand or charcoal. Zip tie a piece of cloth on one end and you could pour dirty water in through the top and it would come out the bottom filtered, clean and ready to be purified through tablets or boiling.

I might have to make one of these to carry in my car. I currently carry the Dead On Annihilator wrecking tool, but I always use it for work and get it dirty and forget where I put it. Not good for a SHTF tool.
