It looks like a M1A, the civ version of M14 and it should be .308 not 30-06. Do you find this valuable?

the select switch is supposed to be on the left side of the receiver, but I could be wrong about that. I'd have to look that up.

Looks like a M14 to me but hard to tell since I can't see the photos to well. The selector switch looks like the one on M14s and is in the same spot as it should be. If it's a M14 can't be in 30 06 because the reciever would be to short

I have a semi M14 clone built on a shortened Garand reciever but it's a .308 of course

There were some expermental full auto garands made but I don't think this is what this rifle is because it looks like it has the front end/ gas system of a M14....again I can't really see it to well

It's really hard to tell from the pic.. but it looks like an M1 Garand with a Synthetic stock.

M1 Garands made by Springfield have a 30-06 variation.

if there is a mag well (for the 20 rd mag) then it's not a Garand

but

the Italian BM-59s were Garand rebuilds

BM58s are .308 and have a selector switch in front of the trigger guard and not where the one is on this rifle. Also the front end is different.
Early BM59s were built using some modifyed M1 garand parts such as rechambered barrels but wouldn't say they were Garand rebuilts

Do you or somebody you know actually have the rifle in the photo and how do you know it's a 30 06 and not a .308 for sure....Really just looks like a M14 in one of thouse fiber glass stocks to me

Looking at the partially in holster picture, looks like a magazine well there.

What it looks like to me is.... A T20 E1 or E2....this was an experimental selective fire version of the garand with a flash supressor on the barrel.

Superficially it looks like an M1D sniper until you see what looks like the selective fire switch on the right side.

Does it use a box mag or the standard 8 round enbloc clip of the Garand? Cant tell from the pictures.

If it uses a 20 round box mag, it is an E2... I believe the E1 used the Enbloc clip,
Either way, if that is what it is, errect an electrified fence arond it and post a guard to protect it......

Can you get us any markings off the reciever ring

I don't see a mag well, but the photo quality is fairly low... Any way to get a higher res image for us?

Got to be careful on that one...for a number of years there were gunsmiths doing mag conversions on Garands, setting them up to use either M-14 or BAR mags. So while rare, there are Garands running around with box magazines.

What I dont seem to see on this one though is a mag release lever.

there was no mag in it, but I do own one mag(it won't fit into the holster with it in.). My family inherited this from my grandpa, and I don't know what model it is, but it fires the 30-06 round and is fairly accurate. Do you find this valuable?
